- Can you believe it has been over a year since my annual "Every Day Carry" update video?
While I put the finishing touches on the new Philadelphia War Room, I reassess some old but trusty EDC favorites, share some new useful additions, and discuss my new favorite knife.
Join me for a look at the essential items I can't live without, from jewelry, luxury hand made wallats, to everyday tools, and the meaning behind each of them. I also talk about the 3 main watches I’ve worn the most over the past year from Seiko, Rolex, and Casio, explaining why they have been getting significantly more wrist time than any of my other watches.
What’s in your EDC? Please share in the comments below!

Hey TGV,
never been much of watch guy but about 6 months ago I got a new job where only relying on your phone to check the time wasn't really practical. As I am a frequent listener of the Joe Rogan podcasts my go to thought was MVMT watches as I've heard that ad 3-4 times a week for the past year and I liked their minimalist design. Went online to purchase one and stumbled upon your youtube video regarding that brand. Was infected by your passion of horology and now own a G-SHOCK GW-M5610-1ER which I wear at work, a Tissot Visodate which I got a spring bar tool to swap straps with and my most recent addition, the Sinn 104 which I am completely in love with.
Keep up the good work!
Wow, thank you so much sir, you make my day sharing that!
Love your choices too btw, a killer trio, perfect for all occasions.
You make me proud and so should you be!
Best regards,
TGV
That escalated quickly.
What's not to love about a 104?
Nice choices. Particularly the Sinn 🤤
Sinn is just lovely. Wear it in good health.
I personally like when TGV includes other things besides watches in his video's, leather goods, knifes, ect.
@Joseph Gore Jr. Because you're awesome!
Tgv is just a knob
KniVes
I think that was the original intention of his channel. But we, the watch buffs, probably helped him focus on his biggest passion: watches :)
This past year i wore my seiko padi turtle most of the time when not at work and wore my 39mm tag heuer Carerra Calibre 5 in rose gold when at work. I love the turtle being so robust and I am not scared of bashing it or scratching it. The Tag works beautifully with a suit and was gift from my grandparents so I love it.
I just added my first Seiko 5 to my watch rotation, and I am totally enamored with it. Thank you for bringing this great watch to my attention in a number of your videos.
Good evening TGV, nice EDC you carry. I still hold on to my MP3 Players, especially when working out or when I go for a run I can attach them to my running gear. Your collection of signet rings has grown quite impressive, wasn't aware of this. Have a good evening and my regards to the Phily PD.😉
Thank you Heiko,
I do the same thing with my MP3 players, beats dragging around the phone too!
Have a great evening too my friend.
Best regards,
TGV
Indeed, MP3 player with iPhone headphones totally rules, mostly for running. Usually I listen radio there.
I think my most worn watches would be still SKX007, even though they are not any perfect.
The watch I have worn the most is definitely the Tudor GMT, accidentally became a one watch guy without even meaning too, it just took over
Fischer Space Pen. Moon pen. PEN ON THE PHUCKING MOOON, maaaaaaan.
Hi TGV, i am no horologist and i do not consider myself as a watch guy but i do really love watches and i have a small collection in my house. But from that moment i saw and watched your videos here, you have been one whom i considered as my mentor not just about watches but those things essential in life in general. Thanks for inspiring me TGV! 🤘🏿
I was very surprised to find out the Gmt-Master was the most worn watch, another great video. Especially love the pen!
I love and always will a good EDC video. Great job as always, TGV!
TGV, thank you so much for your vids and your EDC updates. I really appreciate your experiences and insight on your EDC bits and bobs. My big question: where did you get your two-piece jaysandkays adapters for your g-shock? I use the adapters with my NATO strap, but the two-piece would be good also. O&U! 👍😎
I was waiting for you to introduce the good ole “benchmark”. I was a little disappointed when you said it correctly.
I love it when you review non watch items for some reason. I obviously follow you for your amazing watch content but once in a while videos like this feels so 'fresh'
T, Super intro my friend and love the EDC updates as always. Proud to hear the shout out. Thank you. Best as always. Matthew
Hi TGV. Always enjoy your annual EDC vlogs. It’s interesting how a collection of small every day items not only provide us with such a large amount of practical assistance each day, but also a good amount of pleasure too (well, i find that anyway). I really enjoy my EDC and do my best to look after all my items. Just a little bit of respect for what they do for me. One item in particular that I’ve had now for 30 years is a stainless steel slim line Schaefer pen. I nearly lost it about 18 months ago when i fell from my file at work. I was very very happy to find it literally hours later after following my intuition and going back to the work car park. There it was! It had been backed over by a taxi, but because of it’s robust design and excellent quality, it was almost unharmed. It’s now even more special to me because it has it’s own story of survival to tell. Onwards and upwards to the Gentry and your good self🙏🏻
I currently have a Vincero and I've just ordered a SARB033 because of your videos. Keep it up man.
Well done, and congrats are in order, you are about to join the SARB033 club, your Vincero will be jelly!
Enjoy it and wear it with pride.
Thank you for sharing that.
Best regards,
TGV
Hey TGV! Cracking video. Is the necklace chain different from your EDC from 2017? Where do you buy your chains? Thanks!
Hi TGV
Really like that phone cover - so practical. I guess I’ll have to find something similar...
I was a bit surprised that you’re wearing the GMT Master most. It’s clearly the watch I envy you most and the Rolex I would like to have more than all others. But they’re getting horribly expensive lately, used as well as new.
Looking forward to see your videos from the Philly War Room. And cheers to the Philly Police...
Keep up the good work👍
TGV, i recently discovered your channel and seriously enjoy your videos!
your taste in knives and edc is elegant!
The watch I have worn most is my work watch, a little hand wind Soviet era Poljot I picked up in a flea market in Poland a couple of years back.
It has a wonderful uniquely weathered bronze coloured dial, I've put it on a cordura strap. I have a strange affection for its trashy cheapness combined with individuality and a certain Cold War style.
"Fiel Pero Desdichado" 🤓 nice choices ! I got a Chris Reeve Inkosi small a few weeks ago. Nice update and review !
Most people I know don't use those portfolio-style cellphone cases. I find it really practical to keep a debit card or some cash with your phone without having to rely on a wallet when traveling light. Nice one!
TGV Thank you for your content!
THE Frank Rizzo..Your reminding me of all the history we have here in Philly. Looking forward to running into you !
I really enjoy these EDC videos. Great work 👍. My latest EDC purchase is my Castelijn & Beerens billfold. Most worn watch is my Seiko SRPC013 on a Watchgecko president style bracelet. Looking forward to seeing the new war room!
Regards,
Koen
Very nice vidoe. Nice EDC setup. Looking forward to the next video. Keep up the good work.
Hey TVG excellent vid. I especially love the cross on that box chain. Is that box chain 2.5mm thick?
I was just about to buy a g-shock full metal until you mentioned about the 'issues'. now i guess i'll wait for a bit.. looking forward to your next video on the g-shock full metal 👍🏻
Seiko kinetic 200m diver. Black dial, day/date, stainless steel bracelet, stainless steel framing on day/date window and indices, skeletonized hour and minute hands, counterbalance on the minute hand, needle second hand with lollipop counterbalance, wave engraving on case back, had it 18 years, never serviced, keeps perfect time. Your videos made me think of my previous watches and make me think maybe I should start a small collection of my own. Keep up the good work.
wedding ring with skulls, haha, best... Regards from Germany.
I love the Griptilian as well, and I carried one daily up until I got the new Benchmade Bailout a few months back.
Hi TGV, my most worn watch of 2019 is my Tudor 1926 ceramic waffle dial with gorgeous blued hands. Bought it on a whim and will never part with it now
Thanks for the great content 😀
Yes! Can you read my mind TGV? I was hoping for another one of these...
Hi TGV. The watch that I wore the most would be the Casio Duro on a steel 22mm bracelet. Short story: a friend of mine came up from overseas for a conference and while he was speaking his (cheap dollar store) watch fell off of his arm. It fell to the floor and was beyond repair. Immediately I gifted him my Casio analog watch that you reviewed as “tough as nails”. He was overwhelmed and accepted the gift. I may get another one from amazon soon, but such a robust, useful and affordable watch cannot be a secret for long. Thanks for reading, sharing & teaching, TGV! #onwardsandupwards
+1 on the streamlight! I'm an aviation mechanic and been flying for many years and I have a couple of their lights. One big one for shop work, one like yours which conveniently clips to the bill of my hat while I work in the hell hole of jets, and one that's more pen sized that is my edc. Also have my Fisher Space Pen which is excellent. How fitting it is that Tuesday was the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch and it just so happened to be a full moon... Wore my Speedy in honor of the occasion 😊
I LOVE your EDC videos TGV- my absolute favourites! Looking forward to the next one. (I especially loved the older ones where you used to carry really unusual things like tape measures etc).
Hope you're well and enjoying the city of brotherly love my friend!
My most worn watch is a Tisell Vintage Sub. Sure, its a subby homage but feels less obvious without a cyclops or date wheel. Gets a bunch of wrist time for three reasons. 1) The bracelet is extremely comfortable for sub $300 watch, 2) matches everything and 3) I'm in the middle of grad school and my self graduation gift will be my first Rolex. Gives me that little reminder that I'll get to celebrate when the studies are over.
Hey TGV! You ever considered making a video about sneakers? As you care so much about the many aspects of being a gentleman, I wonder how you feel about footwear! Cheers, Dan.
I would love to, I have in the past but not one solely about sneakers (bad pun, sorry).
I will see what I can do.
Thank you Dan,
Best regards,
TGV
Sneaks? Merrells Chameleon Stretch. I've got 3 pairs of them. And some hiking boots.
@@KRW628 Merrells? Hmmmm Vivobarefoots are more comfy imo.
When it comes to sneakers I usually drift to Timberland because their shoes are just the most comfortable for my wide ass feet.
how often do you find yourself changing the ink in the Fisher pen?
Hey TGV! Great video as always! I travel light, but always have my citizen promaster on for some reason. Unless I'm doing some dirty work, then I'll put on the trust F91W or the Seiko SNK 809. I think the Gshock is the next purchase. Thanks again! Love from Pittsburgh!
Speedmaster Pro ref. 145.022-76 is what i've been wearing most!
Currently in the market for a Explorer 14270 tritium & lug holes. Question for you:
What is your opinion of the Explorer 2? Some say it combines the best of both the GMT & Explorer being that it is relatively discrete, but also has the GMT complication.
Great content as always.
TGV, since you mention which watch you wear most frequently, I assume you have a way that you keep track which one you wear when and were able to go back and figure out which was most worn. I keep track, but I don't have an easy way to figure out which one without going back and counting. I'd appreciate knowing what your system is for keeping track that way I could implement something similar myself. Thanks and regards.
Love watching your videos of watches. When I saw this title I clicked on it hoping you had good quality knives in your EDC. For knives not being your forte, you did not disappoint! 😁👍
I never would've thought a man such as yourself would be wearing a skull ring...but I must say I found it very interesting. Great knife and flashlight choices, I also suggest looking at Surefire illumination tools for more options. A great video as always, can't wait to see the new War Room.
Thank you ym friend. To be completely honest with, life has not been easy and I have found myself in ICU so many times, the battle made me appreciate life, but only when one fully appreciates death. Sounds a bit morbid, but it's how I feel.
Thank you for the suggestion too, I will google it now. Onwards and ever upwards!!!!
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry here's to hoping you never see the ICU again! Also, I carry the Surefire Tactician, but there are many amazing models that serve different purposes. They are indeed the choice of professionals. Cheers.
These vids are always so satisfying. Cheers mate. Onward and upward my friend.
Hi TGV.
Love all of your videos! Great stuff.
Quick question. Is your Benchmade the Griptillian or Griptillian Mini size?
Thanks!
I like your knife combination. I pair the Victorinox super tinker for normal tasks with a Buck 110 for heavier work.
been watching tgv for more than a year now and it has come to a point whereby i dont look for any other reviews when buying for a watch except TGV’s. If TGV says its good. Its good. Keep up your honest work sir! Cheers
Momento Mori . Thanks for mentioning this. I just did some quick research, now the skull ring will defiantly be on the finger tomorrow. I am aware of the concept but somehow the actual name or descriptive label has evaded me until now. Thank you.
Relly enjoying these videos. Looking forward to seeing you in the new war room, and watching intros made in phillies' streets 😉👍
If you'd make a 12 hour video I'll watch it without stopping
I would love to be a watch guru but at the moment I’ve been into knives. I strongly suggest getting the ZT 0562cf or ZT 0562ti. You cannot go wrong with this beast of a knife. The steel is CPM-20cv so you won’t have to worry about sharpening it that often and the edge retention is extraordinarily good, it’s made in the USA, they have a really good warranty (like Benchmade but Zero Tolerance(ZT) has a better quality control), it’s stylish and eye catching, but serves a purpose of being a hard-use knife that’ll take just about anything you throw at it.
Another inspiring video Tristano, thank you! I literally just went back and watched your 2018 EDC last week, it was overdue and highly anticipated.
The Dan henry 1962 looks fantastic 👍 my 2 most worn watches in 2019 have been Squale 1545 Heritage and a Seiko skx009 👍🇺🇲🇨🇦🇮🇹⌚😊
Handkerchief.
Microtech UTX compact OTF.
iPhone with folio case.
1 oz RCM gold bar.
Secred dual RFID wallet.
Key fob.
Uniball.
Those Sandisk iPods are very neat.
The watch I started to wear the most is my Vaer field watch. Before that I was jumping around with two custom G-SHOCKs and my gold b5000.
Thanks for sharing your EDC. Very interesting. Most worn watch for me this year has been my Hamilton Khaki Field Auto 38mm, however I recently picked up a Submariner 114060 and has been getting much time on the wrist as to be expected. 😉
Can’t beat a good old EDC.. Great episode!!! Looking forward to seeing the new set up!! Onwards and upwards!!! All the best.. BMJ ENGLAND 🏴
What is the max size supported on the MP3 players, can I use a sandisk micro as 1tb drive
my wife would absolutely kill me if I had a skull wedding ring
Some tribe collects human skull like us collect Rolex
time to find a new wife
I've been using my Benchmade Mini Griptillian pretty much every day at work for years now and it still feels like it's brand new. I went through dozens of knives before that, Spyderco, SOG, Gerber, they never lasted more than a year before the flip mechanism broke or wore down. Benchmade is the real deal.
TGV, you can put the space pen refill in the Parker Jotter! Try it. The fisher refill comes with an adapter for the Jotter.
Good stuff. The grip is a good choice, not my cup of tea, but a good tool none the less. Love the time piece. Just pick up my first Hamilton Khaki auto, based on your review. Thx for the video, TGV.
My most worn watches this year our my two squale 1521's and the new seiko monster. If you want change it up other signet rings coin rings are really cool. Check out change you can wear.
Great video, as always. I just wanna let you know that I just order a new Orient Star and I am excited as hell 😉 greetings from Poland!
Interesting items Tristano 👍 Items (besides my wallet and keys) that I tend to have on me daily would be my Spyderco Endura plain edge wave, and watch'wise this year would be a vintage (70's) tuning fork Accutron. The watch is actually a duplicate piece for my Accutron collection, but I couldn't pass up a good deal 😉 A Canadian spec, stainless case RR218 (railroad approved) wearing an expansion type Speidel bracelet of unusual style. I'm usually not a fan of these bands but this one has changed my mind, and it's an easy, quick grab and go watch. I'm a fan of the imminently readable railroad dial and handset.
Keep up the good work TGV, and I'm glad to see your health is good 🍻
Hi TGV, next week I will be visiting NYC and I want to get a watch as a reminder of this trip, I Have a budget around $250 USD, what are your recomendations?
Thanks for the video Tristano! Looking forward to seeing the new digs 👍
I too am a fan of drum and bass! And use my old 32gb iPod to listen. Bluetooth earphones are convenient until you have another device to charge. Look forward to seeing the new war room!
Beautiful taste!!
I too got ring with family insignia, never take it of my hand, those small things make man proud and remember his origine!
The 1660 Leek is still IMO the best gentleman's edc pocket knife, I've had mine for 12 years now.
Great video. I am going to go to my first Opera this fall in NYC. Any suggestions for my first Opera?
Fantastic!
Deffo something romantic, something Italian, Puccini and Verdi to start with, go for something short.
Tosca is great for a first time, Enjoy.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
I travel as light as possible, even when out with the dog. Phone, keys, wallet & watch are essentials, anything else is superfluous.
The watch i like to wear the most is my Datejust. I wear all of my watches tbf but the Datejust has become a firm favourite of late.
Love the intro music and the cool little European looking streets in your new neighborhood. I'm so happy for you. New beginnings are exciting! Most worn watch is the Citizen Chandler Eco-drive my wife gave me for Valentine's Day. Looks an awful lot like an Explorer. I'm also an EDC fanatic and I own enough knives and pocket tool doodads to equip a small army of hip urbanites.
Hi I’m just starting my collection . Can you explain to me the difference between an oris aquis and a oris tt1 ?
Kompoloi hahah ..!! Greetings from Greece my friend TGV!
been carrying a benchmade mini griptilian for 4 years now (since I was 16) and have no intentions of ever replacing it. Love it to death
... " un po' di pasta e un po' di vino... oh yes, definitely a must have in a good every day life brother! 😉🙂😃👌👍🥂 Great EDC and superb video as usual! Take care dear T 🖐🙂🖐!
Omega Seamaster PO... the 43.5mm Master Coaxial model, regular steel on steel, black dial and silver numbers with a Nato for the summer months. Its actually been my daily wear for the last two years and rarely leaves my wrist. Kept perfect time with very little adjustment needed.
What’s your opinion on the Longines Hydroconquest? The newer ones with the ceramic bezel?
TGV, great channel! We need more people like you who have a genuine appreciation for watches and their mechanics as opposed to solely their prestige. You got me back into it! Though I have one high end piece, adding to this collection can be daunting and expensive. Having fun with your low-cost icons (i.e. G-Shock, Seiko) is bringing me back towards the hobby. Grazie TGV, ti auguro felicità, fortuna e longevità!
Greek komboloi! 🤣 I never expected that! I’m Greek American and now I feel the need to add one. You are always full of surprises! God bless!
Dear TGV, I am having a bit of a quandary deciding on one watch from a two watch competition. When I was a kid (back in the early 70's) my father's friend had a Citizen Bullhead chronograph sports watch (model - 67-9356 I think), at the time I was fascinated with it, and even got to wear it a few times when I bugged him enough. The second watch is the Seiko Bullhead Chronograph (model - 6138-0040 again, I think), which I've always thought was a stunning piece. I'm doing my best to find either of these two timepieces from reputable sellers in my closest center (Edmonton Alberta, Canada) but am finding it difficult locating watches that haven't been "restored" with very loud faces and hands, the original I recall was black with white numerals and hands and was a healthy dose of 70's machismo and was a watch to be seen wide open not hiding under a shirt or suit sleeve. The trouble I have is with the movements between the two. I'm drawn to the Citizen, for reasons stated, but I have convinced myself that the Seiko has a better and more reliable movement. Have you, or have any of your commenters had any experience with either of these watches, or have experience with the movements, and regardless of the price which do you think would be a reliable weekend wear? Thank-you for your opinions and advice, faithfully - David. (Also, no I'm not the famous watch dealer and Ferrari collector from Los Angeles Mr. David Lee, but we do share the name). Cheers!
Good segment 💀💀💀👍 My most worn watches? My G-Shocks. I work too much. All the best Sir. 🥃
I love it BB, nothing I respect more then a hard working man, especially a chap wearing a G-shock!
Thank you my friend,
Best regards,
TGV
Gentry good luck with the War Room! 👍🍷
Hey TGV, I've been a little interested in getting a gemstone ring, would you happen to have some sort of shopper's guide for them? I just want to know where to get them, how to size them, what I should be paying for etc.
Hello TGV, enjoyed the video. Always great to see what people have in their everyday carry. ⌚️⏱
Very nice EDC! I’d highly recommend checking out the Gerber 06 Auto (if legal in your state) or the Gerber 06 Fast. Superb knife made of SV30 steel
My most worn this year was the blue dial Sinn 104. I love my Black Bay black but the Sinn is soooo wearable.
Must thank you for introducing me to Opinel Knives in one of your past videos i have 2 now a No 6 witch i use as part of my EDC and a No 10 if i am going out into the woods etc must say it has replaced my trusty Wenger Swiss army knife. My Dad say always carry three essentials a Knife ,means of creating fire and string. Recently purchased a small lighter called a True Utility Fire Stash+ Key Ring Waterproof Lighter this little lighter fixes onto your keys s its always there when you need it.
Thank you
Darren
Most worn watches this year... the SKX007 and the SARB033 have been my "two watch collection." Having a few strap options helps. I have several other watches, but they only ever make "guest" appearances.
The watch I wear the most is the omega sea master America’s cup, out of the Tudor , Seikos , Breitlings , etc love the video and thank you for the tip on the pen. Will get one soon.
Great video. I hope this works out well for you. Most worn watch - SRPA21 (Seiko Turtle). You are right- those Parker pens are great! Pocket knife - Spyderco Enduro 4 Wave.
Was about to purchase the Metal B5000D!? What were your concerns?
Another great video. I enjoy your EDC videos.
Philly is a fun city. I use to visit years ago when my stepson was going to Temple University. I would like to go back there again soon but it’s a little tough now that I’m living is SC.
I’m sure by now you have been to Di Bruno Bros. Market. I love going in that shop.
Looking forward to your next video.
Still rocking the Sandisk, good for you! A shame the older versions were better (faster FFing), but I still use mine with a flat anti-knotting cable for the earbuds (which also have great colors and will match to my shirt).
Hi TGV, I just wanted to say thank you for doing what you do and putting your passion for watches out for the public to see. If I hadn't discovered your RUclips channel, I wouldn't have any idea just how expansive the watch world really is. My edc is usually a folding knife (I change it up every month because I have a decent knife collection), my phone, keys with a pocket tool (a small multi tool that can fit in your pocket; it's a Gerber dime in case you were wondering) that are attached to a nite ize S biner, a wallet, and a watch (I wear a Casio W-220 for daily use & a discontinued Bulova Harley-Davidson, for church and special occasions, though I can't seem to find the model number.) Also may I highly suggest you take a look at Great Eastern Cutlery and Case traditional pocket knives, they should have several models that peek your interest.
Gratzi & God bless
Looks hot in Philly. Hope you added sunscreen to your EDC TGV 😉. Great video as always. My EDC is pretty simple, my light brown soft leather bought from Citudella in Menorca last summer, my p20 pro mobile that doubles as my mp3 player, and either my solar 5610 G-Shock or Orient Star Retrograde. Thanks for the video and enjoy that food from the Italian market my friend 👌
Thank you Chris, Loving your EDC my friend.
The food was great btw, it really felt like Italy.
Best regards,
TGV
Just bought a Parker jutter because off one off your previous EDC's. Wonderful pen and nice size👍
The watch I wore the most this year is my Nomos Club 36. Truly wonderful watch. I can wear it at work or just out and about on the weekend. 2nd would be my G shock. I recently moved and bought a small farm in rural Thurston County outside of Olympia Wa. The weekend work never ends lol. There is always something that needs to be done, and my G shock and handle the being banged around.
SKX009j, wallet, iPhone 5s and a small knife in the car.
Good man, my fellow SKX-er! *insert first bump here*
Thank you Taylor,
Best regards,
TGV
