Some of my favorites. You need to do a reading list and art screensaver again. We appreciate your cultural and artistic taste as well. Thanks for enriching our lives fratello!
Your SOTC, EDC, chats with Mark, and war room update are amongst my favorite of your vids. It’s always refreshing to hear unbiased reviews. 👏 Cheers TGV
Hi TGV, it’s the duke of Devonshire that lives in Chatsworth House, though confusingly it’s located for from Devonshire in Derbyshire. Beautiful house and grounds. Interesting fact, when the house was built, the then Duke wasn’t happy he could see the local village from his new house so he had the entire village moved. Nearby in the grounds but out of sight it really is a beautiful little village. Always enjoy your videos, top notch.
If you're partial to "vintage" Japanese films, Seijun Suzuki's "Tokyo Drifter" is a must. Its use of color, its soundtrack, the action sequences, and its pacing are just fantastic. Easily my favorite Yakuza movie by a mile.
Thee best channel for watch content, with an occasional foray in to music or movie culture & icons. TGV is the best host, intelligent, articulate & cultured. No unnecessary profanity here. Gentle & relevant information delivered with articulation. Stay safe. Stay strong.
I’ve been meaning to ask - do you intend on doing any more videos about fitness? I find the old ones very inspirational, and they’ve helped me fix my own problems. Definitely TGV classics for me!
I've been to Chatsworth many times. I live an hour away. As I was watching your video I was eating breakfast with Cavendish bananas. They were cultivated in the greenhouses at Chatsworth to be shipped back out to be grown all over the empire! 😃
I visited Chatsworth in 1991.. simply awestruck by the magnificence of the house and its grounds. The Emperor fountain was running at the time. It's incredible to see it reach so high, all by gravity alone. The collection is stunning. The Dukes of Devonshire have lived there continuously.
Great stuff T!!! In a previous life as a wedding singer I did a gig a Chatsworth House!!!;) love that little CF charging Matt! My suggestion is a Sinn U50, traditional brand you know and love but with a modern aesthetic and amazing Technologies t’boot! Stay safe my friend!
That is just insanely cool, I could so picture that! I bet you were ruddy awesome. Great suggestion on the Sinn, deffo a wild and tough one too. 😎🥂 cheers and chin chin fratello! T.
I really like this stuff because we get a bit more behind the scenes. You had me laughing out loud when talking about movies. I'm sure you're all in on them already, but if you're not, you've gotta go down the Dario Argento and Giallo film rabbit hole.
AB-SO-BLOODY-LUTELY!!!! Love Argento, his daughter has done some interesting stuff too. Thank you my friend, knowing you appreciate Giallo movies has only increased my respect for you. My faves are very predictable, Phenomena and Suspiria, how about you? The remake of the latter was kinda great too IMO. Best regards, TGV
@@theurbangentry Of his more classic Giallo films I enjoyed The Bird with the Crystal Plumage and Tenebrae. Suspiria is something special especially with the vibrancy of color in that and the more horror aspects. It may be blasphemy, but I may have enjoyed the remake a bit more. I just loved the stark setting and how oppressive it felt, the choreography was also outstanding and reminded me a lot of the original Nijinsky choreography for Rites of Spring; very ritualistic and primal. I still need to finish up his filmography before I land on a favorite, but those two you listed are favorites for most people for a reason. They're excellent.
Your war room Is a very confort thing to see especially after a northern Italy working day. I share with you a lot of passions : watches, knifes, mivies, caffè (in Italy we don't Say espresso). Now I am adding a new passion : motorbike. I would see you very well on a cafe Racer. Ciao
A man of good taste. Richard Rogers is also one of my heroes right next to Renzo Piano. Myself am an architect in the making! Also am really happy with my newest addition of a Squale Maio GMT. Thanks for showing me the brand!
Hi TGV, this is the classic urban gentry video I always enjoy! About entry-level "special" watches, I highly recommend taking a look at Timex watches from the 70s. I know you introduced a Marlin long ago (seems it's from 68-70). Besides such a classic Marlin, there are a lot of very well-designed Timex watches, especially those from the early 70s; retro-futuristic style with "strange" case shapes, original dials and hands, ridiculously robust movement, and they are very affordable (non-serviced around $5-50, serviced: $50-$150). There are also many interesting-looking "Electric" watches of the pre-quartz era. You will find a lot of unique watches! :)
Wonderful midday surprise. War room episodes are always some of my favorites. Orient star divers, vintage for the wildcard watch. They have some fantastic dials. Thanks TGV. SEIKO IS KING !!!
What do you think about the new Omega x Swatch collaboration? I’m so excited to finally be able to get a Speedy! I don’t care that it’s quartz or all the other issues some have been complaining about
So far, GENIUS! Deffo will buy one. It's basically a in-house homage, which kinda makes it official. LOVE the idea. More importantly, what do you think? Thank you EE, Best regards, TGV
@@theurbangentry Who knows...maybe Rolex will look at Omega and try and expand their Grey Market customer base towards a younger generation....he laughs loud 🤣🤣🤣
@@dannyfree1120 issues with it being Quartz, it devaluing the Omega brand, it making true Omega Speedmasters not as valuable and issues with the watch having the Swatch brand connected to it
Loved the content TGV, re-discovering, re-visiting! All the means the same and thoroughly enjoying that approach myself at the moment. There is so many brands that just don’t get the chance to shine due to so much marketing an hype on other specific pieces. A little digging and a gem can be found. 👍
Doxa sub 300, not the 300t but the 300 with the thin case, bible crystal and small dial. I like small watches ranging from 34-39mm and I have to say this Doxa does not seem big on wrist. This is an icon but it’s very different and could easily be a wild card watch. You don’t have to go with the orange dial.. I have the silver Searambler and it’s so special.
Great video as always! I recently had the same experience when I bought my first G-Shock (classic DW5600 in retro green). It stopped my burning desire to buy more watches dead in it's tracks. I love it so much and wear it all the time. One of the cheapest watches in my collection has brought me a lot of joy. The 'grand complications' of cheap quartz watches outperform most luxury brands also!
The Hamilton PSR is a wonderful little oddly shaped watch (like an old television) . I've got the MTX edition which transforms the watch with its black and green color pattern.
Hi TGV you looking for a left field watch. Get the Omega/ Swatch Moonswatch. People will be speaking about this release for centuries. We living in watch history….
Urban Gentry Intros are absolutely incredible! Not to take away from the videos dont get me wrong, i love all videos. im just pointing how much i live the intro
You've got the latest Arrow release of Withnail & I, I knew there was a reason I like your style and personality, I just got that version too, the films an absolute classic of English culture.
I’ll still be tuning in when you get that watch at 50! Hopefully you get it sooner. Also thank you for the War room tour brother ! A huge Hello from CT. Thanks for helping me start my watch collection !
My suggestion for a different watch would be the Hamilton Ventura. You love movies...Men in Black is a classic! The other suggestion, yet more expensive is Ressence. I've seen them in Moyers. Perhaps they will give you a deal. BTW, When I was there a month or so ago, they said they were working to get you to do a meet and greet there. I would certainly like to know if they have scheduled a date for you to visit.
Brilliant update on behind the scenes 👏 As for watches, I would recommend at the more affordable quirky end, SevenFriday watches, believe they even do a sound engineer inspired watch. Or the new Swatch biofriendly material watch (I think it is just a matter of time before sustainability becomes the next big thing in watches). Higher end, definitely go independent watchmaking, like Itay Noy. Doing some amazing quirky watches.
Hi, TGV. Another great update. I DO like watches (Omega Seamaster, Luminox Navy SEAL & (less liked!) Digital G-shock here) but I always really enjoy your War Room videos. I guess it's the nosey bugger in me. Check out Lyme Hall in Lyme Park, Disley near Stockport. It's about 5 miles from me and was (I think?) Charles II's hunting estate, there's an amazing building called "The Cage" in the park where they used to imprison poachers. Some of "Pride and Predjudice " was filmed there, and the great house is very similar in style to Chatsworth. Gimme a shout if you're ever "oop North" on your next trip to Blighty and I'll show you round. Stuart, Stockport, UK
TGV amazes me with his cultured taste and history knowledge. I always finish your videos with a smile and new information about watches, design, or culture. 👍🏻
Guess I don’t feel ‘quirky’ matches your personality or style, TGV, which is why I think a JLC reverso is my choice for you here. Yes. understand you wishing to look for more affordable watch at the moment, but ii believe it’s a glaring omission in your collection. Thanks for making the world a better place.. Respect.
Love seeing the war room I hope Hugo sends you tickets for his world premiere here are some watches that you have not talked about but might be fun to review Thomas Earnslaw, Giuliano Mazzuoli, Seven Friday, Tutima M2 Coatlive Chronograph, Czapek Faubourgede, great video as always.
I would suggest Bulgari, it is very different and underrated. One of the most ambitious watchmaking company in recent years, breaking records year after year. I believe Bulgari is going to be a future classic. I just bought a used Octo Roma and I am surprised by its finishing. The bracelet is so comfortable also!
I'll never forget your early videos in front of your bookshelf talking about things like you're workout routine and other old school gentry topics! As for a watch out of left field, what about maybe a high end Citizen like the quartz chronomaster with the paper dial? Or for something higher end, maybe something from Parmigiani?
Cool war rm, personally since starting collecting watches I've basically become a minimalist, sold so much of my possessions and he'll it feel good to own a lot less. Food for thought for you one day perhaps brother. Keep up the cool work
Finally picked up a Seiko Tuna after all these years. Went for the mini safari which is a great size at only 39mm. Having now scatched that itch i have now set my sights on a new leather armchair for the study. Have already added an Oiva Toikka glass sculpture to the room in order add a splash of colour. I don't envisage too many changes though as i'm an avid believer in less is more.
I've been trying to remember the name of that movie, Prince of Darkness, for years. Watched it in High School and get flashes of the plot from time to time but could never form the whole picture in my head. Mystery solved. Thank you TGV.
One of my favorite kind of “dream watches” is called a bell and Ross, you’ve probably heard of them but I think it would be a great wild card watch or just a good watch to review. Thanks TGV
As someone just commented; Chatsworth House belongs to the Duke of Devonshire. Located in Derbyshire. I'm sitting in Derby right now, only about 20 miles from Chatsworth. I've also noticed that one of the paintings in your intro sequence is currently hanging right here in Derby Museum. You're a long way away TGV, but this all feels very close to home. Great video as usual. Cheers from Derbyshire UK.
VERY cool to hear. Did you see my old video on Joseph Wright of Derby? I include his work in my intro because of his contribution to horology. Great to hear others like you appreciate art and architecture like this, I don't know why, it just makes me happy! Thank you Trev, Best regards, TGV
I didn't realise you had done a video on Joseph Wright; I shall need to track it down and take a look. I remember going to the museum with my Dad when I was probably about 8 years old. I sat down on a bench and looked at the painting for a very long time. The creation of light is amazing and the subject matter fascinating. Superb channel mate; quality work every time. Cheers, Trev
If you don't mind reading subtitles, then I'd highly recommend these Mads Mikkelsen films: blinkende lygter, de grønne slagtere and adams æbler. They are all in danish, but they are great classic danish movies. They have a very danish humor, that may be a bit wierd, but they truly are great!
Hi TGV Surely remember that Visitor watch from that old review of yours. I decided back then that I had to buy one - but never got around to it as it often goes😆 Know what you mean about taking a break from expensive watches and go vintage/cheaper for a while. It’s just as rewarding...another ballgame... Keep up the good work👍
Fabulous video as usual. A wildcard suggestion, albeit an uninspired and more pricey one, would be some type of JLC Reverso. I've always been fascinated by their designs and they do offer some interesting complications.
I always add movies to my must watch list after these types of videos. Thanks TGV! As far as less expensive watch content on the channel, I would love to see reviews on more Timex watches. I know you’ve talked about their history quite a bit but would love to see more of their watches actually reviewed. Maybe a top 5 of your favorites or something. Same could be said about more Casios. You can never review too many Casios. Perhaps another strap recommendation video as I believe it’s been a few years since you’ve done one. Keep up the great work. Amazing quality and the best watch channel out there in my opinion.
Tanks for the leather tray recomend btw. I picked up an affordable one for my desk and I love it. Very handy for keeping bits and bobs from a watch organized when your changing straps or sizing bracelets. 👍
Ciao Tristano! I do not comment very often, definitely not, even on videos I really like. This said I’d like so share my appreciation for you as a man first and then as a content creator ofc. I feel like we share a lot concerning art, architecture and watches. I wanted to let you know how much i apprecciate the fact you want to keep your channel 100% indipendent. Well the obvious one will be the new Omega&Swatch Speedys full collection on every collectors list but have a look at Concord C1. Massive watches, but the attention to detail, design, quality (and also prices now) are amazing.
YESSSSSS!!!!! My fave is Garek (I think I spent that right), what a show, maybe one of the best ever. Very happy to heave you in the Gentry Lloyd, thank you and enjoy DS9! Best regards, TGV
@@theurbangentry Garek is a great character too! Been a fan for a long time. I just picked up another Doxa, a Sub 300. I am firmly entrenched in Doxa land. You should do a video. Let me know 😉
Yessssss, very good observation, it's a great remake indeed! I do have it in the collection, great minds obviously 😉👌 Thank you many, you have great taste in cinema Best regards, TGV
I would have LOVED to have picked up that amazing Visitor Vale Park Officer when I was first getting into watch collecting. That's one of my few regrets - not getting it when I had the chance.
Jeffrey Combs is awesome, he also played liquidator Brunt (a Ferengi) on DS9 and Shran (an Andorian) on star trek enterprise. Just now browsing a bit further, he played a few other small parts in different star trek shows as well. Ethan Hawke got overshadowed by Denzel, but Hawke was in Predestination, that was a rollercoaster. I think i dropped my jaw at least 3 times.
Man I love your videos. I build trails for a living and have been rocking a Timex Expedition watch for years, but I like your channel because I’m sure you would not look down on my watch choice or dirtbag lifestyle. Keep up the good work!
I love the fact that you have a Bronson movie poster. Good on ya. Speaking of your newfound appreciation for quartz.... Pick up an SGBX261 or SGBP011. There's nothing quirky or Avant Garde about it, but it will serve you without pretence. Avant garde.... Well. Louis Erard, maybe? The Excellence series both has the Alan Silberstein stuff and the splendid and starkly modernist Guilloché watch. Have a look at them. They do funky stuff.
Suggestions... Brietling Tabarly. Integrated bracelet... with Rolex Oyster Quartz, Tudor Royal, Nautilus and or Royal Oak vibes. Yet still manages to be unique. Reasonable at 2 grand or less for a decent example. Just a little something I have been considering adding to my already to large 50+ watch collection.

I'll never forget your early videos in front of your bookshelf talking about things like you're workout routine and other old school gentry topics! As for a watch out of left field, what about maybe a high end Citizen like the quartz chronomaster with the paper dial? Or for something higher end, maybe something from Parmigiani?
Dukes of Devonshire, old chap. Chatsworth House is home to one of the finest art collections in the world.
Quirky Watch Entry: Anything from Alexander Shorokhoff
I really enjoy your channel, your take on movies, your style, etc. etc. Keep it coming. Thank you.
Love the enthusiasm!
The Hamilton Ventura is my nomination for left-field, outlandish watch.
Found this video late. Fun stuff love all your goodies.
Great vid TGV. First watch that sprung to mind to recommend based on the designs you pointed out was the Zodiac Olympos!
Cool war rm, personally since starting collecting watches I've basically become a minimalist, sold so much of my possessions and he'll it feel good to own a lot less. Food for thought for you one day perhaps brother. Keep up the cool work
Good collection 👍
They reissued the Steve McQueen Heuer Monaco. 39mm very interesting and different
GENIUS SUGGESTION. That would compliment my Red Lion Hanhart too.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Finally picked up a Seiko Tuna after all these years. Went for the mini safari which is a great size at only 39mm. Having now scatched that itch i have now set my sights on a new leather armchair for the study. Have already added an Oiva Toikka glass sculpture to the room in order add a splash of colour. I don't envisage too many changes though as i'm an avid believer in less is more.
Give the new OMEGA x Swatch a try for something different. Seems to be causing a lot of buzz.
I would suggest the Ulysse Nardin Freak and I would love to watch a review on it!
A Lacrimosa remix? What is the world coming to!
I've been trying to remember the name of that movie, Prince of Darkness, for years. Watched it in High School and get flashes of the plot from time to time but could never form the whole picture in my head. Mystery solved. Thank you TGV.
Love your movies taste ! Pusher is such an underrated trilogy, I'm so mad a lot of people never heared about it !!
I have seen Britannia. Really good show.
Great video and enjoy your channel. Just was hoping that Hugo would have made a cameo :)
Thank you Trev,
Best regards,
TGV
Hi TGV
Surely remember that Visitor watch from that old review of yours. I decided back then that I had to buy one - but never got around to it as it often goes😆
Know what you mean about taking a break from expensive watches and go vintage/cheaper for a while. It’s just as rewarding...another ballgame...
Keep up the good work👍
I think you would love the movie Carlos. Also, Edgar Ramirez wears a Cartier Santos in it I believe...
Look foreward to meet you in person someday.
Buona fortuna, Carlo
I deeply appreciate that Carlo, mille grazie!
Best regards,
TGV
Love that you have Chatsworth House in the war room. I am lucky enough to live around 30 mins drive from there 👍👍
Really enjoyed this video!
Love your vids. Best produced watch video on the tube. Your opening productions are awesome. Also luv your humor! I appreciate your hard work. I'm fairly new to the hobby and am learning alot. Trying to keep from making mistakes with my limited budget. You really help! Thanks.
Thank you TGV for such a Great War room update!! I have really enjoyed the funny intro and funny movie comments!! Thank you so much for all of the videos!! I happen to always learn something interesting and new/unique in all of your videos!! Also, thank you so much for reporting the fake Urban gentry scammer!! I happened to be almost scammed from them in the early fall 2021 from them trying to get my private information so I have blocked them and reported them to RUclips! Stay healthy and well as always!! Nicholas.
The Stop2Go is fun and unusual.
Wow, it has been so long and I have never thought that you have persevered in this niche area of entertainment and reached 6 figure subscribed. Amazing! Since I am back in this expensive hobby, I hope to see more of your great content. Thanks!
Well the obvious one will be the new Omega&Swatch Speedys full collection on every collectors list but have a look at Concord C1. Massive watches, but the attention to detail, design, quality (and also prices now) are amazing.
Yes Jeffrey Combs! I'm actually currently rewatching DS9 right now for the millionth time but I love him as Shran. I'm a big Star Trek fan too.
YESSSSSS!!!!! My fave is Garek (I think I spent that right), what a show, maybe one of the best ever.
Very happy to heave you in the Gentry Lloyd, thank you and enjoy DS9!
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry Garek is a great character too! Been a fan for a long time. I just picked up another Doxa, a Sub 300. I am firmly entrenched in Doxa land. You should do a video. Let me know 😉
TGV i recommend the movie The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans with Nicolas cage, it reminds me a little of training day
Yessssss, very good observation, it's a great remake indeed! I do have it in the collection, great minds obviously 😉👌
Thank you many, you have great taste in cinema
Best regards,
TGV
Universal Geneve make some outstanding watches.
Brilliant content ! I love videos such as this! Look forward to these every year !
What are your thoughts on the new moonswatch? Could be a fun watch
Carlitos way.,..wow 😍 amazing
Prince of darkness is a fantastic movie. Mathematics and science used to encase evil? Nice!
Die Hard, another 80's Christmas movie was big on Tags, Rolex, and Cartier
