Mr. Hurd , today I m starting to pray for your soon recovery, and all you have to do believe, remember that little mustard seed can move mountains, God bless you , we enjoy your show a lot so take care of yourself and take smaller steps so that we can see your show lot longer.
Love every video you put out. I watch them with my 6 year old. Please take care, We want to see you finding pickers every week, my wife is a post surgical cardiac care nurse, she says Rest and get better so we can see more and more Dan Hurd Videos. Rest now to make more later. Much love to you and your family Dan
Dan my dad had 2 open hearts and he said he felt the wired suture for quite a long time after the surgery. Ten years between each. That type bone is unique and the slowest to mend. All the climbing you are doing is a great sign of how you are mending! Keep on Trucking and God Bless!
As Dan's official helper, I can say that we are mostly there to convince his wife that he's not working as hard. Lol 🤣 I often have to pry the shovel or pick from Dan's hand because he's such a hard worker, even while recovering from heart surgery.🤣 And I'm only there to help him for 1 out of every 10 trips he makes. So in reality Dan works way harder than he should haha
The province wants to protect land next to water. One aspect is that plants can help prevent erosion that hurts fish. So, we have rules about not disturbing vegetated parts of bars and other protected areas near water called the Riparian Setback... A metal detector must not be used closer than 10 metres from the high-water line of a creek.
Dan, at least you're not sitting on the couch watching tv and eating chips. You are outside, getting exercise and fresh air. And gold. How awesome is that. I know it's hard, waiting until you have properly healed, but you will!
Pete thank you for being with Dan and helping him, much appreciated. Dan would you PLEASE please stay safe and well and STOP overdoing it heal first, we can wait for you to come back to action. God bless both of you and your family’s and stay safe and well, much love from Western Australia 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰👏👏👏👏🤗🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🌻🌻🌻🇦🇺
Had a spine fusion 2012, felt really good summer of 2013, went to my clan, stood on a round rock, fell and needed a second surgery. Now I take it very easy. Careful Dan.
Love it when your at Pinkerton. Thks for your friend helping you out. Your the first gold seeking person I came across a couple years ago. From you you introduced Pioneer Pauly and Shane from Klesh guitars. Love all that you and your friends do. Keeps us old guys entertained
DAVE! Bad boy overdoing it! Seriously though, I know when you are a very active person, it is very hard to slow down. I know this from experience. I'm glad you have a friend to help you today. Great day. The rock formation along the river looks to be the perfect hiding place for gold. I love your excitement and enthusiasm though. It gets me pumped to do some"prospecting" of my own. But instead of gold, I am seeking out very old dumps. My town was founded in 1647, but there were people already living here before that. So I'm off to the library and speak with the town historian for maps of that time period. I love the research!
I'm so glad to see you are back to what you love to do so much. You have such a great spirit. Just don't push yourself too much it will slow your recovery and set you back. Summer is coming. Keep us entertained.....
Outstanding Pete & Dan Hurd 😁😁😁! YES, listen to Dana, I have a funky sternum from a waterskiing accident in 1993. Get yourself proper healed, don’t rush things my friend👍🏻
It is so nice you have such good friends to help you while you are getting stronger, maygod bless you all and get better soon I enjoy watching you so much
Pete has a heart of gold. I'd say he has fair claim that first big picker. You detected that signal but Pete dug it out and Pete panned it. Matter of fact Pete may have snapped that jinx to become your new luck charm for Pickerton. Take it easy Dan. Don't go hurting yourself.
I experienced the clicking after my open heart surgery and it was the collar bones cause they were loosely fitting cause of being stretched when they open the sternum. Took a while for the clicking to go away but it did after a few months. Nice vid Dan!!
When I started lifting weights as a teenager, I sometimes felt like my breast bone above the sternum was popping or cracking. I couldn't imagine what you went through. I'm 56 this April and I hope I never have to find out. Here's to your health and many more years ahead. 🍻🥂. 🕊️🙏💖💯 From Philly 🇺🇲🥨🥨
I love all your videos I've seen. My favorite is when you go to the picture store, my next is when you go find the egg shaped agates. You know what? I'm hooked to them all. Thank you for sharing your experience 😊
Take it easy Captain Sternum Kracker!!!!😁 Your a national treasure to Canada (and a nieghborly treasure to us in America) just keep that in mind my favorite mayor of pickerton🤣🤣🤣
Great video as always, also very glad to see more vids at 1440p & 4k, the water looks so much clearer than at 1080p and everything is just sharper without the heavy youtube compression.
Enjoyed the video Dan. Great way to be very productive and taking it easy too . Nothing wrong with poking around with the detector while you heal up . Never know , you may run into something you would have otherwise missed. I can see it now " The Pop'in Sternum Mine ! lol .
New viewer here. Watched about 4 or 5 programs. Did the like button. Now here's the deal Dan. I can't help but think of the Old Timers who were getting real nuggets looking at your videos and shaking their heads over how much you are excited about stuff that they wouldn't even consider worth thinking about. So much has changed in the past hundred years in many areas of human endeavors. Here's hoping you find one the size of the Old Timers.
Sure sure They were allowed different techniques and camped there 24/7 No cars, no cameras, no environmental restrictions. They pulled out thumb sized stuff out of the mountain rock lol
Dan, regarding Canadian coins being silver or not - bring a strong magnet on your trips. (This will also help find those iron nails and other iron bits out of a clump of dirt / sand). The magnet will tell you immediately about whether a Canadian coin is silver or not. If it sticks to a magnet, no silver. If it doesn't...well, some date ranges to know. 1966 and earlier is 80% silver. (.800 fine). 1965 and 1966 are 80% silver and also have that same portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on them as seen in your video above @ 11:37. 1964 and earlier are also 80% silver, but have the younger portrait you were likely thinking of. This is true of dimes, quarters, halves, and dollars. The 1967 silver dollar is 80% silver, but it's a tricky year because the lower denominations were sometimes minted in both 80% silver and 50% silver, and it's quite difficult to tell which is which, so just about everyone treats 1967 coins as 50% (.500 fine) silver. So as a general rule, 1966 and older = 80% silver, and 1967 and 1968 that DO NOT stick to a magnet are 50% silver. Canadian coins dated 1919 and earlier are .925 silver or "sterling" silver. Here's to your health Dan, listen to wifey. Cheers! -Greg
Wise idea, Dan. Like you, I'd be pushing the limits all the time, myself. A very fine ADIOS from that hole. Nice piece of gold. The shape of coins implies their ability to be influenced by water. It's still winter in Montana, too.
Just found this guy a few days ago, awesome. I have a at gold too, disappointed it didn't do well. I live near.(60 miles away) a big producer back in the day. I found 2 nice nuggets with a dredge but really nothing with detector other than bullets.
Sorry to hear about your clicking sternum Dan. although I didn't suffer that during my recovery, I had my wife, daughter and grandkids watching me like hawks. They even dobbed me in to my cardiologist who rang me and gave me what for over the phone and again at my 1st followup. Why? My daughter was splitting some kindling and nearly chopped her finger off. I took over and showed her how to do it correctly with minimum fuss & energy. This was a month after my op, and it was a light axe. The day after I was a bit sore, but tried to hide it best I could. OH surgery was in August, then had 3 cancer ops - 1 just before Xmas, 1 just after Xmas and the last in the first week of 2021. Still healing from the cancer ops, but sick & tired of basically standing back. Take care pal, we don't want to lose you!!! 👏👏👏 👋👋👋
Hello Dan. Been watching your videos for hours today. Great information and some of the things you say are absolutely hilarious! Thanks for the awesome videos
Dan, you’re truly blessed to have such great friends; but you already knew that. Cheers, sorry to hear your recovery hit a rough patch; here’s to a quick remaining healing period.
Sorry to hear about your set back, I get tough being active and having to sit around, been through a broken neck, and broken ankles, along with Achilles Tendon surgery I needed to have done TWICE.....you HAVE to let heal, it tough...but you have to..and i'm 56, it takes longer as get older, sadly, best wishes
I know an Aussie who's probably pulling his old moldie over his head and having a fit, cause you're not keeping the fine stuff! 😁 Pete needs a medal🎖️for keeping Dan out of trouble.
Exactly! Was thinking the same thing! All he gets is flour gold down there in Australia and he gets excited over it. Then dans like “I’m here for the pickers.” Lol ironic since I just panned five bags of kleshkrums paydirt and the stuff Dan was getting rid of is the stuff I was trying to save! Love dans videos though, he’s who got me into this stuff.
One of the best IF not the best gold channel on RUclips. 2nd would be askjeff or Pauly, maybe vogus. But Dan's way makes you smile no matter what kind of mood you're in. Plus you always learn somethin. Get better Dan!
I've learned so much from this channel in the last week or 2. I've done a little bit of panning my local streams/creeks in the last couple years and only found a couple tiny flakes of gold. But tons of pyrites. Which Im assuming tells me I'm possibly looking in the right areas around me, but still learning the best places to dig.
I really appreciate your "teaching" quality ... your willingness to share your expertise. Sure: catching some color is 😎 cool, but *showing us exactly how you do it* is fascinating!

Keep finding the gold and I will keep watching Dan and well done Pete
Hugs! Take care now! And Hugs to Pete for the awesome Sherpa action!!!!
Nice picker, of course when you’re just ready to leave , you start to find more. But, that’s a good problem.💗😀👍
Bless u Pete for being a Great Friend to Dan .😇

I loved the vid. You have definitely got a naughty streak in you. You had much more humour today. Pete’s a real grafter & obviously a great friend.
