My only question, How much profit from the lead? 😮, amazing video, great to see the entire process from start to finish, thanks for sharing this with us all!
As a miner, I want to congradulate you on this basic primer presentation. Gold is the money of kings because it is a representation of human (sometimes slave) energy expended. Not many people get that aspect.
Merry Christmas Brent! Things are coming into place more and more every day my friend! Looking forward to what next year brings and adventures to live. Keep moving forward with your dreams, hard work pays off in many ways!
May I suggest that you have a modern assay done. In addition to gold and silver, other elements are now needful...Lithium... which was unknow to the old-time miners and discarded on tailings piles. A new assay might determine that the old Cerro Gordo mines could reveal new profit possibilities that could fund the rebirth of Cerro Gordo and your plans for it. I'm not suggesting that Lithium is present, but possibly other industrial metals/minerals may be. And, additionally, recovery methods are far more efficient than they were in times past. Your tailings piles might contain overlooked assets that modern recovery methods could maximize.
@@versi0nzero The parking lot in front of the mine house is a tailing pile. I would have used some of that for the road, landscaped with it around the buildings, endless uses.
@@versi0nzero With Brent owning the place it will remain historically correct, but other mines in the area would reopen and take advantage of whatever they could produce.
Silver should be worth much more than it is. I purchased silver 15 years ago. It was about $23/oz. Include shipping cost it was about $28/oz. So for many years my investment didn’t go up. Just recently it’s up a little.
Great video Brent! I had no idea how much went into mining silver. Very educational to see. Hope you have a Merry Christmas out there! Looking forward to your next one.
This is so important for people to learn the value of silver, it would be interesting to see and compare what it takes to mine and refine other precious metals!
I'd love to go communicate with the Spirits in that mine. Maybe get a lead on where the gold was stashed. Then go look for it. That would fix the Tariff issues we are about to face.
Wow talk about coincidence... Earlier today I was pondering (based on your prior videos) how much time and materials it would cost to get an ounce of silver out of Cerro Gordo today. And then several hours later up pops this video! Awesome! (And I'm not just saying that without reason)
I remember the brothers Hunt and the Silver Mania. We started recycling the silver from the photographic processes in the darkroom. I was an avid amateur photographer (just a young kid). My dad developed a method for this - and almost started marketing the machine. Most people sold their old silverware for a lot of money, and lost heirlooms because of that: Then it collapsed.
Great video! Silver is also an antibacterial. In times past I heard the used to throw a silver dollar in the milk jug on the way home from the dairy so the milk wouldn’t coagulate. That’s why they make silverware due to antibacterial properties. Hospital utensils, etc. Medicinal reasons too. Thanks for all you do! Found you during pandemic and long time viewer. Can’t wait to visit some day!
You can also make Colloidal silver from Silver. Put a real Silver Dollar in about 8 ounces of water in a real drinking glass, then take a battery, like a 9 volt and then using the pig tail wires put them in the water. Water your pregnant cannabis plants with that water to make Feminized seeds.
When the mine was at it's peak the economies of scale and higher-grade ore would have multiplied the profit. There are many semi-dormant mines which are only reopened when prices are high, then closed again when it's no longer worth working. A small gold mine near me was re-opened in the 80's by a couple people which has produced enough for the two owners working it to live fairly well. The real incentive is that there's always the chance you'll find a rich pocket or vein which will make you exceedingly wealthy in a very short time. The odds of that are tiny, but it only takes once.
We have a ton of topical Iron oxide concretions and I thought about it, I then researched and rudamentary attempts were made to mine Iron here in the Driftless region in the mid 1800s. Thank you for sharing this!
A great and educational video. Hey Brother, fist rule of mine safety - never go in a mine ALONE! You should also look into a remote Lift control and call system - climbing back up that shaft can take it out of ya. Merry Christmas!🎅
Don't forget your cost of owning and buying the mine, equipment, training, insurance and other overhead~ silver should be at least $50/oz! Our problem is the printing press money and the ignorance of the People using it when they could use Constitutional "freedom money" Au & AG!
If the mine is already there and you are just going down and picking up some ore, then refining it, is way different than starting at the surface and starting to dig.
Love to see an operation collab to see 1 or more of the collapses resecured for mapping and exploration! Just because you can also!! Merry Christmas Brent!
Well, I think I better weigh the silver chalice we use for communion in our church. It dates back to 1856, so I think it probably represents pretty good value given its use by around 100+ people a week for 170 years. Or not.
@@ChazzyB-2024 Sorry, I was just thinking as if someone was to ask you what you were doing. I did not vote for Satan as Dick-tator of America. But yes, I agree with you.

Lye is better than soda ash, it takes half as much and it doesn't boil as badly. Isn't there a gas station nearby that sells propane? Are your scales for Troy ounces?
This is an informative and educational piece, Brent. I am buying silver as a hedge; seeing what an ounce of silver costs to produce gives me a better understanding of the seller's premium. Hope you and your Cerro Gordo friends have a great holiday.
too much of a liability, if he can afford to get the mines up today's safety standards he could do it but as it stands right now, it's not worth the risk of putting a human down there. Brent risks his life each time he goes down there and you can see it in the videos he makes. It would be cool to see the mine turn into one big tour but it would take a lot of work to make it safe for such a thing.
Oh god, no. The insurance costs alone would bankrupt him. If an insurance company would even WRITE a policy for tourists to go down into a century old mine with rotting timber and known collapsed tunnels containing buried miners.
I f*ing love such content!! very very interesting content! love it! i would like to see more interesting content of yours! merry christmas and happy new year to you, your family, friends and more!! greetings from switzerland
In Butte, the Washingtons are mining the water of the toxic lake created by a pit mine. The small trace amounts of gold and platinum they recover pay for the cost of the project, and they sell the molybdenum for pure profit. Then supposedly the water becomes a lot cleaner and safer. Pretty cool operation from what I understand.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this very entertaining video. You are so very special Brent. I’m grateful for your videos. Every time I see a video from you, I am very grateful for the work you out into it. 😊
Yes, so few people have any idea of the importance and utility of precious metals as money, best and only way to safely, accurately and anomalously store and exchange value!
Historic gold:silver ratios for the last billion years have been below ~15:1. It is currently at 85:1. A reversion to the mean would start above $180/oz. The current mining rates are ~7:1 which would push the price to close to $400/oz. Current production is well below demand and the price is sold on what many have show to be a manipulated futures market. That's what the Hunt's noticed, they discovered the manipulation, they did not cause it.
Better make them soon as the USA's dollar will plummet when a tariff is imposed on the things we buy. Who da Expletive people voted for that lying Rat? I sure in the expletive didn't.

That size of an operation would surely become an open pit mine. Needless to say, that’s far from an ideal future for Cerro Gordo

Surprise you're not using like an impact drill with a whale tailor bit or chisel bit on it. to get that stuff out of there.
Silver is also one of, if not the best conductor (Yes, even better than Copper)
Just watching makes me feel exhausted. I guess it's winter there and it's not too cold down in the mines.
Hundreds of feet underground the temperature should always be pretty much the same?
Brent, if you're going to be working ores and smeltry products, you need something a little more robust than some 3 mil nitriles.
The black type from HF cost a little more than the blue color and yes you only get 50 in a box, but the black color is the way to go.
Plus Silver has Healing qualities.
