its insane that two of the melee classes in a combat system that incentivizes melee.. they're not meant to be played in melee. We need a massive overhaul for Melee in general, Block is useless, Balance is inferior, Fencing is the only option. @@alexsitaras6508 It's even funnier when the weaker versions of the power sword take like two or three hits to kill a trash enemy, but when that same enemy tries to jump on you and you perform that perfect parry it is suddenly a one hit kill lol. Also, space marines are inhumanly strong killing machines with post human reaction times and reflexes, and suddenly they can't swing a literal metal stick which is only there to house the energy field that actually does the killing more quickly. Melee combat really needs an overhaul, because in comparison to ranged, it just sucks. Sure, good players will make do with it, but they will always be even more effective with a melta.

What a fucking mistake it was to level assault to 25 first when the game launched, it's pitiful they're not buffing anything melee either even just for assault, but they have the gall to say gun strikes are risk reward

I’d love to know the play test process this game went through. The more I play and watch these videos the more bewildered, annoyed, and disappointed I get. The damage balance is garbage and that’s not even hyperbole. I can understand perks not being dialed in well but basic combat and damage?
Thunder Hammer looks sick as fuck when you are charging it, just wish I could get one attack off with it haha. I’m lucky I get those double slams but damn, on ruthless there’s so much enemies in the damn mob.
It is not about getting the charge slam off! That will happen, you just continue to jump ground slam, start the charge immediately after, and during the charge up nail any dodge or parry incoming! ONLY if nothing comes then unleash the AOE BOMB drop. The class is about nimble defense and nailing over 90% of your dodges and parries even when using the hammer.
Squad gun strike is the better perk imo, enable finisher on majoris from 3 gun strikes to 2 for the whole team. Also the +ground pound damage but +preparation time (without +damage -aoe perk) is also pretty good. Kill most adds when use and you can just not charge it up if it's not safe to do so. I treat Assault as a pistol class, not melee. This is my favorite class, not the best but I love it. From assault main and enjoyer.
This class against tyranids is mid to okay, meanwhile chaos forces shove you around taking your lunch money and shooting spit balls at you, wish the perks actually made using melee the viable option
To be fair, Tyranids are a joke compared to chaos so anything is decent against them. Ruthless Tyranid missions are farm maps while Chaos missions can still be a threat even with max level classes.

They designed thunder hammer to be small damage AoE. In reality, power sword's cleave stance already does that (and better) so thunder hammer should just straight up be a melee nuke instead.
When attacking ranged majoris, using pistol doesnt stop them from shooting you but using a melee attack on them will. Sprint, melee attack, charged melee attack will suppress ranged majoris better than trading shots with it
@@TannerLindberg "Jump Pack over the horde" will likely be the retort. Even though the ranged Majoris can sometimes be halfway across the map obliterating you with the ranged pellets, and you cannot jump pack far enough

That being said, it's not a massive difference to justify sitting in melee. A massive buff is needed for melee damage since the Space Marines in this game apparently wear armor made out of cardboard.
one shot from the bolt pistol one taps minoris to the head. one swing of the hammer does not. two shots to the body to kill minoris depending on the combo it takes 2 to 3 hits from the hammer to kill them. seems like the damage numbers are the same to me

Why shouldn't you use the +50% quick shot with the +25% damage bonus from dodge and 15% damage bonus to gun ? You dismissed the use of the 3rd skill because few M1 in the head is equal to a quick shot. I disagree. I would hardly believe from a math point or even my own experience that the majoris ennemies take the same amount of damage from a buffed dodged gun strike vs few M1.
Yeah bulwark is way better at sustaining himself and staying in melee Mainly because he has a full heal on command and can put down shock fields that kill all trash by just playing the class
@@SneedRemembrancer Bulwalk doesn't have thunder hammer. As assault, I was one shotting hordes with my thunder hammer swing, and with my constantly refreshing jet pack jumping around to save my buddies and landing on elites for instant executions.
@@joanromba6972 I parry once and I put down a shock field that kills the horde for me and stunk locks elites into a coma Then I intentionally get my armour broken to get another shock field If I get into any danger I put down a batter that I full heal with a single over charged plasma pistol shot Assault has none of these things

I mean, the class is struggling, but it is not this bad, lol. I guess if you are completely bad at the game mechanics and landing in the middle of a group and blindly swinging. Skill goes a far way. It is not that hard to use dodge and time your attacks, and you are making it seem like it is impossible
All I hear here is cope. Even if you do all of those things you will have at best 1/3 of the Heavies or tactical damage. You are at a defensive disadvantage because you take more dmg than the avg by far but also at an offensive disadvantage because its DPS is horrid. It is by far the worst class. Assaults are always the one's with almost no HP and very few damage to show for. I fail to have an Assault actually outputing meaninful damage output. Also they are useless against flying enemies and bosses on top of it. Class is struggling bruv. All these weaknesses with no reward to show for it
Assault is the hardest to use but easily the most fun. The class isn’t really good until it’s maxed out, and even then it’s really situational every other class is just overall better. But man , being able to spam jet pack slam because I get 10% cooldown reduction per kill goes absolutely crazy man. Damage for days if there’s tons of enemies.

The honest to god best melee answer to a horde is parrying the grunts attacking for the instant kill. You won’t take damage that way at least.
It really is since it safely kills/knocksback multiple gaunts at the same time, not just one.
