Sandy and I lived in a Buick and a tent. Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end. It was an awesome adventure. I miss Sandy. I have followed Bob for many years. Good job Bob.

    I am 40 and living in my prius with my dog too. No roofrack or hatchbox so it's quite tight. But larger than Toyota starlet I used to sleep in. And there are several hidden spaces to fill.
    I wish to have a more grounded space on earth to live....like a cabin in nature, with clean natural water and trees and do lots of crafting. But I have not a home to sell.
    And secondly, that living in a car would need to be done secretly. It's kind of exhausting to be careful all the time (police knocks).
    I like the mileage of the prius, and the airco and solar roof. To park near the forest and scroll around in nature first thing in the morning. And with 6" length I can lay in the hatch. I just parked and climb to the back now :) good night! Take care everyone

    I've been a full time vanlifer (Ram Promaster High Top) for the last 4.5 years. Having a vehicle to stand up in (I'm 6 ft 2 inch) is such a pleasure. I can stand up straight with sneakers on quite comfortably inside my van. I think that people go for the Prius mainly for its gas mileage, which I'm sure is fantastic. For those looking for from the trenches info, about a Ram Promaster van...I get on average 17.6 miles to the gallon and that is with driving 70 mph + on the open road. I budget for +-$60 of gas per week. My total expenses is (health insurance, taxes included) +- $2500 per month . I financed the van at $250 per month. If you can get/buy a van outright and pinch pennies, I'm sure you can get away with way under $2000 per month. That should give you something to work with.

Camp mode would keep you warm/cool all night without ever having an engine turn on (better for stealth camping. Also, you can run a fridge constantly off the car's battery so you don't have to buy or carry a separate battery. There are tons of aftermarket products for camping in the Model Y such as beds and blackout curtains and stuff, too.

    A large percentage or nomads don’t realize that wet wipes have wood fibers in them and any dermatologists will tell you it’s super hard on your skin and pores. You can actually get clogged pores. You can purchase professional large wipes like they use in nursing homes. They are very expensive but feel amazing compare to those wipes. They are about $10-14 each but they are so large you can cut them in half.

    Do You know if any other Toyota hybrids have the ability to run climate controls without the car running and turn its self on and off to charge the batteries. I really like that feature

    • @bagelandapriusrv
      @bagelandapriusrv 5 месяцев назад

      I think all hybrids have that ability.....they just go on and off all the time, depleting the battery and recharging it with the gas motor

    • @bagelandapriusrv
      @bagelandapriusrv 5 месяцев назад

      :-) the passenger sit was put in my barn. My mileage didn't change much at all..the biggest effect on my mileage was my tire pressure, and outside temp. Overall it was between 45-58 mpg.

    Car living is not for me. I did it in a 76 Subaru years ago when I was young. A few other cars throughout the years. People look at a video like this and think it looks good till you pack all your gear, dog and yourself in there then becomes pretty small space.

  • @cheri6174
    @cheri6174 Год назад +5

    As a Prius ages, it is not as amazing. You can’t just sit an idle for hours upon hours as perceived. What people don’t understand is once the Prius is say 5 years old you no longer kick over to battery. In other words the battery only runs the car when you are going 20 mph or less then it kicks into gas mode. Currently with my 2016 I have zero battery usage for traveling. Most people don’t understand this

    • @bagelandapriusrv
      @bagelandapriusrv Год назад +6

      I have to disagree...it sounds like your hybrid battery needs some cells replaced

    • @jpanosky
      @jpanosky Год назад +5

      This seems like an issue with your prius. My 2012 does just fine, and many other nomads use their older prii to keep them comfy 24/7.

    • @cheri6174
      @cheri6174 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@bagelandapriusrv incorrect. I maintenance my car as they say to do. If you read any info it explains the battery only lasts so long. This is why people have to replace their battery usually after 250,000 miles. If you are saying the battery still drives the car then yes. But it no longer can drive the car in battery mode and as a ride share driver I have had so many engineers explain this to be correct. My car has never missed all the maintenance requirements needed. So you are incorrect.

    The climate control is nice but I need a bit more space. I use a 09 Dodge Grand Caravan with a 30 in wide single bed in it. I have PTSD issues and sometime I will wake up and need to sit up to get myself together. Also easier to use the bathroom at night. In a car as a guy you will lay on your side and try to pee in a bottle then next thing you know the bed is wet. 😐😬🥵

    People who have, own, rent their homes, RV's, or aren't living off just social security or SS + occasional jobs, just don't seem like they have any reason to be on the road full time and I admittedly have a very hard time understanding why they're out here or sympathetic for their hardships...Those of us just on SS or SS + occasional jobs are probably on the road to not be paying rent to a landlord offering nothing more than a roof and to feel like we get a long vacation... JMO...How can they possibly relate to people whom are struggling to get by when they have the resources to cover every issue... =(
