How to sleep in the back of a Prius laying flat | Prius Camping

- While making videos about living in my Prius while traveling, I was asked so many times how I could fit in the back to sleep. Can you lay flat? I hope this puts those concerns to bed--no pun intended.

I did this in a Kia forte in 2018. I’m 6 foot 6. I had a blowup mattress in the back and would just curl up for the night. I still camp in places you can barely get away with overnight parking. Definitely have an advantage

I'm 5'8" and have a '16 RAV4. I took rear seats out, built a 40"×40" platform (for storage underneath) and sleep on driver side. Have BougeRV 12v fridge and Bluetti power supply next to me behind the passenger seat.
Curtains all around.
Never have had the dreaded 2am knock. (So far! 😆)

I’ve noticed a guy living in my condo parking lot. Idgaf. He doesn’t cause problems and cleans up after himself. I only noticed him because I like to look out the window like I’m a cat or something. It’s super common for cars to not move for days or to move multiple times a day so Idt people really take note of cars (there are 12 buildings too lots of cars). There’s also a planet fitness 5 minutes away. 😂

i have a 2014 prius plug in and I did some experimentation camping in my car in the woods for the weekend (to see how it would hold up for future endeavors) I am 5'11 as well and what I did was pretty much the same thing with the cooler to prop my head up, but I got a self inflating 3 inch sleeping pad, aligned it slightly diagonally, and just used the left over spaces on the side to store my 3 duffel bags, a backpack, all my lights and walkie talkie station. I had so much left over storage space in the front passenger seat foot well, as well as one of the rear sides of the passenger seats as well. its perfect for mini minimalistic glamping in the summer time because I can charge the car and run the AC all day long. Only thing that sucks is that its ideal for just laying down only, "sitting up" in the car is not possible for more than an hour before you lose feeling in everything, and it it just hurts.
Yesss! They literally just need to make the back of the Prius 6 inches taller, and it will be flawless

No. A secondary battery system. However, while I’m driving, it can also charge the secondary battery system if I flip a switch.

This is an issue only for a van or SUV. Most people dont consider someone would sleep in a Prius.

These tiny engines can’t take the thousands of travel miles a year plus running the engine AND battery for day to day parked and winter :-/
Yes it can. C'mon it's a Toyota. These cars are easily rated to carry 1,000 pounds. Plus it's a hybrid so the engine is not working all the time.
They can and do. Also, I’m not hauling cement here. Just 2 average passengers probably weigh more than all my cargo.
