  • 2022 was the year of the truck! We saw new brands rocking old designs, old brands rocking new designs, and basically everything in between. Today we take a look at Mike Sinclair's new invention: Slappy Trucks. These trucks take a few key components from different brands and blend them together into a medley of everything great.

      I love to ride the Indy Titanium Hanger with the standard baseplate for the 55mm height, for less wheelbites.
      I need the Indy (88 Bottom Cylinder, 90a Top) Bushings and i install in the baseplates the inverted Kingpin by my self. That weights 125g.
      The ikp baseplate of indy are 12g heavier and the „legendary“ shaft nut starts to blow out.
      My solution with broken washers jam up with super glue and the nut is 12g lighter per truck and nothing blow out and starts to wiggle. And you can change the inverted Kingpin easy or install the regular kingpin again. I use the kingpins of the hardware store. The looking like a slim down head GK Kingpin and you need no top washer anymore.
      I change the bottom washer to a flat washer and leave the top washer out for max. clearance.
      If you rock the standard washer they press into the hanger and „pinch“.
      My setup is very easy 🤓

      Slappy 8.5’s with the inverted kingpin 👊 love ‘em. Been riding them for about a month after some AF1’s and I’m very happy I tried them out. Feels like an ace/Indy combo in the best way

      :> weeeell not judging them or anything, but they are a shop and they wanna sell their stuff, which is totally fine, but this brand and truck is new, obviously they wanna sell them as the new shit in town, which they are.
      not saying they're dishonest or anything, but this is basically a commercial.
      I'd like to have some measurements, how does their wheelbase compare to other trucks, how high are they exactly, whats the hardness of their bushings?
      also does ACE have patented the rethreadings axle nuts? cause if nut they could totally appeal to more customers with those AND a rethreading kingpin nut, especially those who like to slappy alot

    • @ShredzShop
      @ShredzShop  Год назад +5

      We're excited on new stuff! As @diddymelone2265 we''re also a shop, but we try to show people products we think they would like and be honest. Why this video focuses on the 'clearance' and mentions they are not the lightest truck on the market. Hopefully someone who wants that will enjoy these trucks!

      @urbanumbra6170 Год назад

      @@diddymelone2265if you like indys youll like slappy trucks.
      Maybe more than indys, maybe not but its a similar truck.
      I like them better because theyre taller and turn better imo so I can ride 58mm with barely any wheelbite

    • @tomgann9383
      @tomgann9383 Год назад +1

      @@diddymelone2265I don’t think a re-threader can be patented. And Ace didn’t invent re-threaders, they’ve existed as long as bolts have existed. Come to think of it, they weren’t even the first company to market re-threaders in skateboarding. If I’m not mistaken, there used to be some skate tools that included some sort of a re-threading element.

    Recently switched to Tensor mag lights because I'm 50 years old, and the reduction in weight helps my skating (easier to flick, higher ollies, etc). Bushings are quiet, too. Over the years I mostly skated Indys, recently though Ace AF1, but have also skated Thunder and Venture back in the day. If Slappy comes out with a lighter hollow version, I'll definitely give them a try. Currently spoiled by the weight of mag lights.

    • @Souls_On_Fire
      @Souls_On_Fire Год назад +4

      Careful though, they grind down pretty quickly if you’re skating a lot of ledges and curbs. Mine were down to axle in 3 months

    • @_Christopher_Williams
      @_Christopher_Williams Год назад +3

      @@Souls_On_Fire I heard that about them, thanks for the heads up. Most of the ledges I skate nowadays have coping, and I don't skate nearly as much as I used to. I'm old. They'll probably last me longer than they would for most people. I'm just really stoked on how light they are, and how much easier it is to flip my board. Plus, my deck is 8.75 and the trucks are 8.5, so that helps too.

      If weight is a concern, Slappy trucks are not for you, might want to wait for the hollow version but honestly, I can’t imagine it being light enough to justify the cost for it being hollow it’ll end up right around pace, AF, one level weight, which is still heavy AF.

      Hopefully there's a good local in your area that is open when it says, does local events, and hooks up local skaters, you can support them online ❤️ And hopefully they can show you some love back!

    How tall are they tho?! Im looking for a lower truck like a venture lo, but ventures dont make los past an 8” and i skate 8.5. The lowest trucks i can find are mini logo and tensors. Can anyone recommend me a low truck?! Oh and shoutout to my local shop solstice in new bedford, ma!

      What's the turning radius feel comparable to? Independent? I know some people aren't really into turning and carving much but I am

      @@truthhurts7637 honestly felt a lot like indys, i skate medium/loose and these felt fine. I had to tighten them down just a bit. The bushings they come stock with remind me of bones medium bushings, loose when you need em to be and stable at the same time. Hope this helps 🤘

      @@truthhurts7637 yeah, ever since trying the mid indys out a few years ago, i see no downfall in the inverted kingpins.

    Those trucks look amazing and so they must feel. At 46 lightness is mandatory but How the set of trucks turn can make the whole thing more enjoyable and thats why I m curious about these trucks.

    I worked at a skate shop so I have tons of access to trucks ,boards and whatnot so I finally just ordered them …. Yup that’s right I ordered and used the DREADED ZZZZZZ ROLLERS ! Hahaha😂
    They were as heavy as a REAL TRUCK and they didn’t turn to good BUT ,….! I could grind anything !
    I was god in my little town on LONG ISLAND!
    Being that we had wood and overgrown planters made of the gnarliest cement we didn’t have Avery any grindable surfaces. I think I put them on my RON CHAPMAN BOARD from WORLD . OH THE DAYS !
