For those worried about the height of it over an electric cooktop, yes the maximum height should be 24”. However, it can go up higher if the oven range is a downdraft. Technically downdraft versions don’t need a fan, but some prefer a hood fan in addition to it anyways.
I wondered about that. For gas, maybe, but electric/ induction minimum is 20-24”, and gas minimum is 24-30” minimum in Canada. US seems to be 28-36”. Bear in mind, heat and smoke rise in a cone, so the higher the vent, the larger the capture width, depth, and power needs to be.
Can you please add more information regarding hood size, power, and placement with respect to cooktop distance and type? It seems wider and deeper is better, and more power the higher you go. But surely there are specs.
Hi there! Specs will vary depending on the hood type and counter size. This article shows you how to select the best range hood for your home: www.lowes.com/n/buying-guide/range-hood-buying-guide
why is there no premade adapter for connecting the range hood damper to the vent? they are bot the same size so why is the no flange provided bt the range hood maker?
I will be installing a vent less hood under cabinets . the cabinet bases are wider than the vent. do I need to enclose those bases, so crud (grease, dirt) doesn't build up without a way to clean them ??
Direct access to an outside wall is not always required, but it may be more helpful to decide on what type of range hood will work for your home if you find yourself not having a straight path for ductwork. A ductless range hood might be a great compromise - here's a link for you to check out this option: www.lowes.com/pl/Ductless--Range-hoods-Appliances/4294696750?refinement=4294781169
Ventless hoods are a very poor substitute for a vented hood. The filters do not catch fumes or aerosolized cooking products very well If you have gas range they are a very bad idea.
What? The cfm requirements of a vent hood are much more a function of the fume production of the range, not the size of the kitchen. If you are using a high power gas range you need more cfm than a routine or induction electric range. If you do high heat stir fry you need more cfm than for routine cooking.
Thank you. Although my ducting is cylindrical and much larger there aren’t many horizontally ducted install videos on here. This gave me a few tips.
Thanks.
This is exactly how I want the vent in my Tiny House,
including the floating shelf above it.
Thanks, you made it look so easy to install.
double the square square footage....cool
thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you. I will be shopping at Lowe’s.
Do you have any videos showing the vent hood in the first photo? Installing a unit into a finished box, and cutting the hole in the steel box on site?

Was anyone else annoyed by the joint in the shelf not being flush??
I live in a condominium and my range is on the garage wall. Is venting still possible. What professional would I hire to do this?
Very good advice
I enjoyed watching it thanks 🙏
looks pretty high above stove, follow manufacturer specs for distance above cooktop

How hight has to be install it?

I was surprised to see him leave the junction box open to the room when he installed the hood. I was expecting him to put a cover on the junction box.
no siding on the outside wall?
Based on your math my vent should have 240-250 CFM. I already installed a 500 CFM duct. It looks like I should be covered.
How about when you don't have a clear shot to an outside wall?

If I have a vented hood now, can I replace it with a ventless hood?
Yes
Why you are switching?
My new house planning for vented hood. Any idea would it be a bad idea ?

test piece cut ? test what ? did not see the man measure the depth of the duct peice ? where do yo measure from?
But How Do I find the proper range hood?
I could put in ductless range hood never had one also no upper cabinet
Why filters with exterior exhausted hood?
Can you send someone to my house to do this?
I hear ya!
for once, having paper walls helped with the project
sucks that we exclusively build everything with concrete in South East Asia
and yes!!!!!!!!!
In an Asian household, install a range hood over 600 CFM's.

Got no vent
What about over the range microwave
We've got you covered for that, too, Niko! ruclips.net/video/wD2OAWHRVZc/видео.html
terrible idea.
I wouldn’t mind him coming over 😏
