1A Auto's how-to videos are my go-to source for how to do whatever on my vehicles. Having spent many years as a mechanic I've learned that a refresher is always helpful and saves a lot of time figuring it out on my own. And the "tools needed" is a time-saver. Having said that, probably the best thing about their videos is they are well-done and with a mechanic who obviously knows what he's doing. PS: They're also a good source for the parts you need.

Thank you, thank you! I got estimates from 5 different places and they wanted over $800.00 a piece to replace them. Goodyear charged me $345.00 just to change out the bulb so I could get my inspection sticker. I purchased the pair from you for $260.00 and it took my son and grandson less that 10 minutes total to change them out! Thank you again, it was simple and so easy because of you and I saved over $1,500.00.

Excellent video! I used TWO wide flatblade screwdrivers and pried at the TOP and BOTTOM edge of the plastic chrome trim, centered at the plastic clip. I did not want to cock the clip and risk breaking them. By using 2 screwdrivers I got an even lift off of the plastic clip. My Equinox was 4 years old when the bulb burned out. I changed both, note that a SLIGHTLY "brighter" bulb has a much SHORTER life!

Thanks for posting. In 10 years I've never had to replace a single bulb but the lenses are quite clouded so I might replace them since the car is still running great. I guess the best thing is to anticipate those clips on the grill bar breaking and maybe best to order a set before doing the job.

Thank you! Great video. I got real close on my own, but didn't realize you had to take off the cosmetic front piece on the grill. I can't believe they make it that difficult to change a simple light bulb. It's as if they designed the looks of the car and then said to the engineers, "Here you go! Put an engine and some lights in the space we left for you! Good luck with that!"

What tends to happen over time is the glue surrounding the lens that holds the lens to the housing begins to crack and water then leaks in from there. There will be no visible signs of damage but just a small crack in the glue will allow moisture into the headlight and you will see condensation on the plastic lens.

Your video was easy to follow and really made changing the bulb very easy. Just one difference on my daughters 08 Equinox...it had a 7 mm bolt instead of 8 mm.

The manual says to remove the bolts on the radiator support and on the grill, but I only remove the ones on the support, than that allows the grill to move forward a bit to get the headlamp assembly out, and I don't remove the chrome bar across the front.

The part where you have all the lugs taken out and the headlight is supposed to detach from the pivot point in the corner - I had to use great force to get it to detach, and when it did, it was because the connection, or pivot point, was broken off. I replaced the bulb and reattached the old headlight with the lugs, and this broken connection doesn’t seem to pose any issue. I was just wondering if I may have done something wrong or if you have any advice to help others avoid breaking that piece. I appreciate all the help you’ve provided!

I purchased the new headlights for a fraction of what as quoted to me for parts and labour... the shop wanted $900.00 to replace them. He wouldn't inspect my SUV without the lens being replaced as he claimed they were cloudy and the lights weren't bright enough...I told him I would buy the lens myself and bring the car back for him to install so I could get my vehicle inspected...I was able to buy them for $186.00 for both. I asked the Mechanic if he'd put them on for me and they quoted me $25.00 to install them... when I went to pick up my car they weren't done. So I asked why they hadn't done them along ith the other work they had done on my car. He told me that he didn't do it because it cost too much for the labour and wanted to save me some time and money... he also claimed it would take 1 1/2 hours to complete at a cost of $181.00...nearly what I paid for the lens. He then tells me that they aren't important enough to replace and just cosmetic and they really didn't need replacing. I still have them in my backseat and I'm glad I found your video because it looks as if it's something I can do myself in a short time Thanks for showing us how to do this. You're a godsend.

I got my head lights replaced on my Chevy Equinox 2006 with no problem, I didn't even break any of the fixture tabs on the silver strip part. Or whatever its called lol.
