Thank you for this! When I was married, we took our Acadia in to have a bulb changed and got charged $75 for it. Being a single mom at Christmas time, I was determined to change the bulb on my trailblazer myself. One of the clips and the wire harness tab wouldn't budge, but luckily I've got skinny fingers and was able to get behind it and get it done. I've got a scraped and bloody knuckle, but also the satisfaction of doing it myself and only spending $11.80!
Went this morning at 7:15 to get 2 bulbs and came home to prep for the install. With a cup of coffee, my prep, I proceeded to replace both low beam bulbs. Was done in about 20 minutes because I knew what to do. Thanks again Chris!
My 2002 is still alive and strong and thanks to your video I saved $50+tax in labor. No gimmicks and you couldn't be more clear. And I'm dummy about cars! Thank you!
I don't usually comment but you did an excellent job on this tutorial. It wasn't over complicated, you didn't try to use a ton of technical jargon, not tons of extra explanations, you used the camera well to show your work. Good job.
I came across Chris Fix years ago. He is one of (if not the best) uTube mechanics I have seen. He is very thorough, knowledgeable, and detailed guys on here. He does not leave anything out (missing steps) when describing how to accomplish even the most involved auto mech task. Very pleased and he is one of my #1 go-tos when I am seeking TB how-tos. Thanks, and keep it up Chris!
Thank you SO much for this! I have a 2003 Trailblazer and the mechanic wants to charge me $128 to change it. I thought the process was more complicated than that. I try to work on the truck myself when possible so this is a HUGE help for me. Thanks again :)
I have a 2004. Most of the basic stuff is easy. Always search for a video first - even if you end up having to take it to a shop, then you at least understand the process so you can tell if they're ripping you off. And to be blunt, you're an attractive, young female - you're a rip-off shop's bread and butter.
Your video was great and saved us $35 to $70 for labor to change one low beam headlight. We did both as you advised for just the cost of the headlights. Thanks!!!👍
I needed to change 1 headlight on my 2003 Trailblazer LT so I figured it’s the first time a light was out in 16 years, better change them all. I saw another video without taking off the grill. If u only need to change the headlight on Drivers side that may work. Any other you can’t get to. Chris Fixx always has the best videos. The dread of taking off the grill kept me driving with high beams on (I know I know I hate when people do that too!) But I’m a single mom, work for the town, and during leaf collection etc I’m busy and exhausted. It was easy to do myself. Only problem was my 4 of the clips were so old and rusty, they snapped and part of the grill got a crack. Yes I tried to oil but didn’t help. The other 7 clips held it on till I could get more and I epoxied the crack before I put it back. Awesome results! Never thought that the reason I couldn’t see at night driving was because my lights were 16 years old! Thx Chris!!
I can't thank you enough for posting this video! Thanks to you I was able to replace the headlight on my 2006 Chevy Trailblazer today! There was only a slight difference between the 2002 in your video and my car. The grill on the 2006 doesn't extend across the headlights. Also, the grill on mine is bolted on the bottom with two bolts in addition to the clips. Luckily I did not have to remove the grill entirely. I was able to pull the headlight out enough to replace the bulb. Only cost me $10 for the bulb and 15 minutes of my time. You are awesome! Subscribed to your channel.
jimi18032 Great and thanks for explaining those little differences! I am glad the video was helpful and I am glad you are a subscriber! New automotive 'how to' videos every Thursday and a bonus video most Mondays so stay tuned!
Glad I found this comment. I have a 2006 so I'm thinking this might be a challenge. Hopefully, you can expound on what you did to get the headlight out.
Thank you!!! I'm a 23 year old female who just changed her own headlight. It normally gets dark here in Texas and 630pm and all I had was this video thanks to you and my phone light. And a flat head. Thank you thank you thank you for taking your time and step by step instructions!
It is best to try all of the lamps before reinstalling the headlamp assembly to ensure that the lamps are good and the connectors have been inserted correctly.
I just wanted to say your video on how to change a light bulb on Amy Chevy 2006 trailblazer was a snap you explained it and showed me was a breeze thanks I gave you a thumbs-up and I subscribed to your channel thanks Chris have a great day.
erik dempsey Awesome! That is what I like to hear! Definitely consider subscribing! New automotive 'how to' videos every Thursday and most Mondays so stay tuned!
Keep up the good work !! You verbalize just enough without jabbering on and on like some others. You enunciate and explain everything. Your attention to detail is priceless !!!
I followed you instructions, and did the job in fifteen minutes. I had no idea how to do it until I watched your great video. This is the first time I have left a comment on youtube and I did it because the video was great.
Light went out on the way to work today and no auto store would change it, I didn’t know what to do, you saved me a lot of stress and frustration! Did this in front of the auto store with dress clothes and a full manicure and it was still super easy! Thanks!
This video shows and tells all you need to change out the Trail Blazer headlights. Like so many have commented, this task is easy if you follow what Chris is telling us. Thanks, Chris.
Just came back to leave a comment. This is super easy to do if you follow the intructions in the video. Only took about 5 minutes for me to complete. Thanks for the quality video! Much appreciated.
Thank you Chris, Your video is excellent! There's less steps in the 2008 Trailblazer to remove the lower beam headlight. No need to take off the grill and remove the lower wiring harness. The light sits in the bumper. After the clips for the headlight are slid up and the upper wire clip is taken out, put slight pressure on the bumper under the light with the flat head screw driver. The headlight is now out.
dude you're a lifesaver. pulling out the driveway to make a five hour trip and dad noticed one headlight was out. searched and found your video, 30 minutes and a trip to the auto store later and I'm on my way again. thanks for the awesome video!
I like this review but I simply removed the caps -- and replaced the bulbs... no needs to do all this disassembley !! This video shows the proper way but after 10 years of use, I do it the practical way.
jabber wolf how do you get to the caps? The air box is in the way on the passenger side (which is only a few screws to remove) but on the drivers side the battery gets in the way which is a pain!
Hello Chrisfix, my name is Li and just recently my and my wife we bought a preown ss Trailblazer and I found your RUclips videos. let me tell you many things, YOU SIR ARE A VERY PROFESSIONAL IN YOUR VIDEOS, CLEAN, FAST, LOVED THE HD VIDS, CLEAN EXPLAIN AND VOICE. and many people are going to say negative comments about the amazing work that you do.....for the viewers that don't have the knowledge that you do...THUMBS UP KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. YOU GOT A WHOLE FAMILY AND FRIENDS AS NEW SUBSCRIBERS.
Seriously such a good tutorial! Middle of winter in Montana and this girl changed her headlight all by herself! Worked great on my 2005 Trailblazer! I can't thank you enough, Chris!
Aaron Householder Haha no problem man! I am glad my videos are helpful! I have a bunch of other TB videos too that are helpful and many general videos that can be applied to the TB! New automotive 'how to' videos every Thursday and most Mondays so stay tuned!
Great Video, my son and I know nothing about cars, we watched the video purchased the headlight and finished the job in 10 mins. Really brings out your inner cave man. Thanks again.
You are hands down the best instructor I've seen in some time , your detail to important points without foolish talk is to be commended . You are a real good teacher and I thank you
Light out didn't want to pay tons of money to a shop to change...googled and you popped up. Didn't take the video down with me, went upstairs rewatched the video asked my wife to come down and together we made it happen...2008 is a little different, but your video gave us what we needed to figure out the little nuances, happy to say headlamp is now shining bright.
I know Im about 8yrs too late but just wanted to say ty Chris. This was extremely helpful to me changing my headlight the other day. Finished within 10 minutes and didn't run into any troubles. Thanks again and best wishes to you and yours.😁✌
All I have to say is THANK YOU. After a quite a few bad words when trying it myself, I watched your video and did in about 15 minutes. You saved me more gray hairs!
Thank you so much! I do not consider myself proficient in the world of cars (mainly because my mom and dad are usually my at home mechanics. But after my dad passed in 2019 and my mom lost her desire to work on cars) I figured it was time to learn to do simple car tasks myself. Thanks to you and this video I have completed my first solo task!
If you have a high milage trailblazer like I do... the first tab I tried to pop off broke. I went and pulled off the airbox instead, which took all of 2 minutes. Popped the low beam off from the inside and worked like a charm. The video definitely did help by mentioning that some people take off the airbox! (Make sure you line up the intake tube before screwing down the airbox.
Thanks a bunch! The last time I had my headlights changed we took all the metal and stuff apart to get into them it took my husband a long while. My husband was at work and I needed to change the lights out and I was able to do it in less than 30 minutes with your video! Thanks so much !
Omg you are a genius .. I waited for my husband and said screw it.. Found you and you walked me beautifully to change my head light .. I was done in less a half hour and that is great for me considering I never work om cars .. Your sight is the greatest and I would use it again thank you
It's -0 degrees out so I won't be doing this anytime soon but this is well within my ability range. Thanks for making this extremely clear video. Happy holidaze from beautiful downtown Footville, WI.
I have never done any work on a vehicle and my mother in law needed this done my husband was working and I found this video it was so simple step by step instructions. Thank you so much. now when my hubby gets home he can just spend time with us instead of working on a "to do" list. 🖒🖒🖒
This is the best one I've found! Now let's see if I can do it as quickly and as painless as you made it seem... 😆 Update: I feel so accomplished! I had to change out the connector because it was charred. My husband and I fixed the issue for less than $30 buck! Thanks ChrisFix!!!!
Chris; I had no idea on how to change a headlight bulb in my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer until I viewed this video! Your video and detail steps made it easy to understand and do. I thank you so much for doing it!
OK, I think I can do this. I've watched three different people do this, and your video is the best. In the morning, I'm going to go buy a second light for the other side--"Replace in pairs"--got it. And then, I really think I can do this. Thank you. I think I may even super clean my windshield after that--really helpful stuff!
Thank you Chris I watched your video real quick before running out and helping the neighbor across the street change her low beam headlight on her trailblazer you help me make a quick 20 bucks
This is a great video. I just changed a bulb in my 05 trailblazer. It was done in lest than 15 minutes. Car dealerships and most shops should be ashamed of themselves to charge outrageous amounts to do this and other simple jobs.
Thank you so much! I had to get a little help from my dad because the clip closest to the corner of the frame was difficult to pull up, but your video was extremely easy to follow and I am happy to have saved money changing out my own lightbub! Thanks again!
Chris you do a really good job keeping this at a layman's level and a broad range of people are engaged with you on these projects. Now take a little time to refine the finished product, for example wash the part of the vehicle that you are working on
Patty Parsons Awesome! I am glad the video was helpful and saved you $90! That is great! New automotive 'how to' videos every Thursday and most Mondays so stay tuned!
I watched your video and you helped me change my own bulbs even with my pink sweatsuit and fur boots on outside :) as a woman i didn't wanna get ripped off because I don't have a mechanic around, thanks to you I didn't ! thank you !
Awesome! I am glad the video was helpful and you saved a ton of money doing this job yourself! It is good to hear ladies are getting out there and fixing their cars!
Thanks Chris, it's been a few years since I changed my headlights. I think I watched this video back then too. You made it look easy then, and I pulled the video up again for the same easy steps. God bless and thanks again.
Great video, easy to understand for someone like me who is mechanically challenged. I was able to follow this with no problem. Never knew how easy this was. Thanks again for saving me money.
I had no clue how to change this without taking it to a garage. Thanks. it was an absolutely perfect video. Now all i have to do is go home and change it.
Thanks so much for the video. I have a 2005 Trailblazer. I just followed your instructions, and they work. You saved me a trip to the garage and a repair bill. Thanks again.
Had a 2008 Trailblazer with the full assembly, no grill removal necessary. Now I have another 2008 except the grill is the same as yours. I'm about to change a low beam lamp. Yup, to the point, no futsing around. Just took a huge weight off my shoulders. thanks so much.
Excellent video brother, I helped my son change these a couple of years ago but we went in through the top Was a royal pain in the but. So much so that his headlight went out recently and he gifted me the car just not to go through the hassle again lol
Thank you very much for this video. Had to replace the head lamps in my 2004 Trailblazer, and this video showed me how to do it. I could have used my cell phone for this video, but I kept going back and forth from my Trailblazer to my living room where my computer is located. Had to do this several times, step by step. Without this video, I would not have known how to replace the bulbs. Of course I learned years ago, to NEVER touch the glass portion of the "bulb" of a high intensity lamp. The oils from your fingers will cause a hot spot on the lamp and cause a premature burn out.
Great tutorial! SO easy to understand. Took me a bit longer as (lol) some things weren’t where they were supposed to be in our newly acquired aged car! Thank you! Bulbs were $33 and perfect!
Thanks for posting this vid. I just had to replace my headlightlight assemblies because... Deer... This simplified tutorial turned a hour long job into quick a 15 minute task.
This tutorial is very helpful, I am just a clutz and broke both the arms of my grille because I wasn’t careful. I did get my bulbs changed though and I know to be more careful next time!
Thank you for this! When I was married, we took our Acadia in to have a bulb changed and got charged $75 for it. @Gary Keiser what the ffff....
Very professional and easily understood, thank you
O
I just did the same thing. A little scrape on a knuckle. LOLOL
Was the bloody scraped knuckle worth the $63 you saved? If so good for you =)
8 years after you made this video you helped this old man change these lights! Thank you very much for this video
10 years later, this video has helped me get my 22 year old trailblazer fixed up. THank you.
Awesome!
best tutorial I've ever watched, EVER. quick, to the point, answered all questions before they were even asked. good job sir
Awesome! Glad the video was helpful!

Great video. Good lighting and camera work. No unnecessary talking. Right to the point. Saved me a lot of time. Thanks so much.

I just want to thank for the time you took to upload this video. It really helped me out. I’m a single mom. And I did it myself with no help
It is best to try all of the lamps before reinstalling the headlamp assembly to ensure that the lamps are good and the connectors have been inserted correctly.

Chris Fix is a very good teacher. His explanations are easy to follow.
I changed the Headlights in 5 minutes by just removing the Airbox Top. This is the Long way and UNNECESSARY!
darkblaze176 How did you get to the other headlight?
Reached down and pulled it out
darkblaze176 With the battery in the way?
Yes
What year? Maybe it is setup different because there is no access with the battery in the way on the trailblazer I worked on.
I know Im about 8yrs too late but just wanted to say ty Chris. This was extremely helpful to me changing my headlight the other day. Finished within 10 minutes and didn't run into any troubles. Thanks again and best wishes to you and yours.😁✌

I have never done any work on a vehicle and my mother in law needed this done my husband was working and I found this video it was so simple step by step instructions. Thank you so much. now when my hubby gets home he can just spend time with us instead of working on a "to do" list. 🖒🖒🖒
+Leslie Smith Awesome! That is what I like to hear!
Thanks Chris! You’re very good at communicating easy step by step instructions without making the task complicated and I REALLY appreciate it!
This is the best one I've found! Now let's see if I can do it as quickly and as painless as you made it seem... 😆 Update: I feel so accomplished! I had to change out the connector because it was charred. My husband and I fixed the issue for less than $30 buck! Thanks ChrisFix!!!!
Chris, I have to give it to you. I've watched a ton of How To videos on RUclips, but you are the BEST!
Chris; I had no idea on how to change a headlight bulb in my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer until I viewed this video! Your video and detail steps made it easy to understand and do. I thank you so much for doing it!
Glad the video was helpful!!!
I know this was nine years ago but thanks dude helpful AF I was about to rip this shit off the car permanently couldn't find one of the clips lol
I'm glad you still found the video helpful!
This was an awesome how-to video. We replaced the lights exactly as shown.
Thank you so much. We appreciate you providing this video.
Glad it helped
Thank you Chris I watched your video real quick before running out and helping the neighbor across the street change her low beam headlight on her trailblazer you help me make a quick 20 bucks
That is awesome! Glad the video was helpful!
This is a great video. I just changed a bulb in my 05 trailblazer. It was done in lest than 15 minutes. Car dealerships and most shops should be ashamed of themselves to charge outrageous amounts to do this and other simple jobs.
Glad the video was helpful!
Now take a little time to refine the finished product, for example wash the part of the vehicle that you are working on
I
Patty Parsons Awesome!
Thank you Chris for the video. Very easy. I can't believe the owner's manual instructs you to take it to the dealer. Saved me gobs of money..
Thanks Chris, it's been a few years since I changed my headlights. I think I watched this video back then too.
You made it look easy then, and I pulled the video up again for the same easy steps. God bless and thanks again.
Haha awesome! Glad the video was helpful Larry!
Great video. Most repair vids lack a through explanation and demonstration. Keep up the great work.
Great video, easy to understand for someone like me who is mechanically challenged. I was able to follow this with no problem. Never knew how easy this was. Thanks again for saving me money.
Awesome! Glad the video was helpful!
I had no clue how to change this without taking it to a garage. Thanks. it was an absolutely perfect video. Now all i have to do is go home and change it.
So fast and easy! My clips were tougher, but a little extra force popped them right up! Thank you so much!!!
+Megan Johnson No problem! Glad the video was helpful!
Thanks! This helped lots. I am 18 and know nothing about cars and you did amazing explaining. Thanks again.
Thank you SO much. I played and paused after each step. Super simple ! Didn't even break a nail !!
Thanks so much for the video. I have a 2005 Trailblazer. I just followed your instructions, and they work. You saved me a trip to the garage and a repair bill. Thanks again.
Awesome! Glad the video was helpful!
Thank you for this video! You made this so easy. Nice clear instructions!
Had a 2008 Trailblazer with the full assembly, no grill removal necessary. Now I have another 2008 except the grill is the same as yours. I'm about to change a low beam lamp. Yup, to the point, no futsing around. Just took a huge weight off my shoulders. thanks so much.
Excellent video brother, I helped my son change these a couple of years ago but we went in through the top
Was a royal pain in the but. So much so that his headlight went out recently and he gifted me the car just not to go through the hassle again lol
Now you can do it the easy way!
6 yrs later and this vid is still helping people out, thanks man!
Best how to videos on RUclips period
Thanks a lot!
Holy crap! This is by far the best way to change the headlights! I didn't even have to disconnect any wires!!!
Because of this video, I now fly through changing my bulbs. Thx for posting.
