    Nerida, I have watched your videos from the beginning, and I really wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your work.
    You help people that have problems with their skin, but at the same time you help them psychologically by giving them their convidence back.
    At this moment I have acne, and everyday I wake up thinking about it and I can feel it everyday.
    If I had the opportunity to visit you I would ofcourse have taken it, but unfortunately I don’t live in the US, but in the Netherlands,
    So if you have plans of coming over here: tell me!
    (P.S. I am 16 years old, and am having cystic acne)

    I see your heart and passion. I have learned so much from listening and watching your work. Boy, I would do anything to have a facial with you (my sister even offered to fly me to you for my 60th birthday at the end of August but I bet you're booked for the next year!).
    Fighting poverty for a living, a workaholic, and running around from one trauma to another in NYC (and age) has taken its toll on my skin. My skin regimen is not working. I have pretty clear skin but with clogging near the nose and on the chin (hormonal), with surface dryness and dark puffy under eye circles. I am sensitive and easily reactive. I have fine lines on my forehead, eyes and above my lip (which make me crazy). My skin is dull.
    After futzing around with products on my own that exacerbated my problems (thank you RUclips), my dermatologist put me on a regimen of a gentle cleanser (but it does not take off makeup. For that, I'd been using Bioderma). Among the products/ingredients: a retinol and vitamin C (in the form of green tea polyphenols. I can't tolerate a potent vitamin C and exfoliation can often wreak havoc). In many products: hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, ceramides, green tea, Q10, bisabol, caffeine, fruit acids, squalane. He gave me a good sunscreen and a moisturizer for night (something is needed for day to make my makeup sit well). I eat so well....
    Frustrated with the lack of results - glowing skin (though his products are working well to alleviate crows feet and upper lip lines), I went for a facial with an aesthetician in the green space, who used many essential oils with heavy scent. Long story short: after the facial I glowed. The next day, irritation (swollen eyes) and dryness. She recommended a routine heavy in fragrant essential oils with built in actives.
    I am willing to move to a new regimen but I want the right one.
    I have read too much and watched too many RUclips videos. Utterly confused. I want a simple routine with results, free of hype, PR, and fads. If you cannot fix me (though I wish you would), can you recommend some knowledgeable, seasoned aestheticians in NYC (not about pushing their/others products but about the right products to heal my skin)?
    Again, it was a great joy to find you. Apologies for being so long-winded.

      Hello,

    You mentioned facial hair. Dermaplaning is used for that. If one was to dermaplane, at what point would that be done here? Usually helps absorb products. Also, speaking of dermaplanning, do you have a preference for dermabrasion instead? And would you do extractions before or after either of these (removal of top old skin)?

    Your my absolute favorite Nerida. I have a question, do you normally keep the lights off in a facial? Do you only have them on when filming? When doing treatments on the skin I think it makes much more since to have the lights on so I can see their skin, how its reacting, etc. But then an argument is that the lights on take away from the relaxation of the facial. I know I can just pull the mag lamp over but I want to be able to see the skin as its changing. What are your thoughts?

    Any suggestions on how to treat and prevent milia. Mainly get it around my jaw line.
    35yr dry skin. Double cleanses the skin using warm washcloth at night and exfoliate 2x week. Use aha toner and retinoid at night. And a heavy cream due to my dry skin.

      Hi Veronica:)) something doesn't sound right. Is your cleanser foaming? 2x week is a lot for a dry skin to exfoliate. what is your exfoliant? Aha toner would be drying and the retinol also could be drying if you are not layering it over a serum. Then a heavy cream.....makes me nervous. I need to see you skin....pics please to njskincare@aol.com reference RUclips video comment and your name so i remember what you are asking of me please :))

    Dear Nerida, I am new to your channel and I got to know you because of Jordan Samuel, I learnt so much from you as well. I am addressing you, because, where I live (small country Georgia, capital Tbilisi) there are no many options when speaking about proper skincare, so internet is my main resource. And I won’t go here to aesthetician, or dermatologist (only in the case of skin disease), because level of information, education and products is quite different. After accessing lots of information via youtube, I finally brought my skincare where I really like it. But recently, I tried to use mineral sunscreen. So, I bought “drunk elephant“ 30 spf (20 % zinc) and on the other day I got dry patches and a burning feeling on certain arias of my skin. Then I tried skinceuticals spf 30 (lower level of zinc 7%) and it burnt my skin in a slow motion )) after several days. Don’t get me wrong I am naming brands just for the information, I love lots of products from them (skinceuticals 1% retinol and etc). before these two I was using sunscreen - "alpha-h" 50% moisturizing sunscreen and I was fine. I got answer from the brands that I may have sensitized my skin with other products and that’s why it happened. But the thing is I brought my skin to the place where it behaves very well with retinol and AHAs. I really wanted to use sunscreen which is more natural )). I have broken capillaries, redness on my cheeks and normal to dry skin and am doing a lot to keep this redness at bay. So, I am bothering you via youtube for an advice, which I can’t get here in my country. May zinc be an irritant for a skin, or it’s very rare? Or am I doing something wrong? (mornings - vitamin C, hyaluronic serum and sunscreen moisturizer. Evenings - retinol 3 times a week, once a week AHAs. Moisturizer and of course good cleansing always ))). And can you also give me some small advice - is there any way to diminish my redness caused by these broken capillaries. Once again, I think you are an amazing, intelligent person, who truly knows what she does. I will much appreciate any advice from you, considering the above-mentioned.

      Hello! Can you tell us more about how you are using your products. What kind of cleanser are you using? What kind of vitamin C product are you using-is it ascorbic acid that is in the vitamin C, or is it magnesium ascorbal phosphate, or another derivative? Sometimes ascorbic acid can be irritating for some people depending on the strength or application of product. At night what is your retinol like? How does it feel when you apply?? There are different forms of vitamin A, which can sensitize the skin. As for your AHA, are you using them along side your Vitamin C and vitamin A during the same routines?? If you would be so kind, could you look at the back of your bottles and see what forms of products you have, and tell us how you use them?
      For ingredients if you could look for these on the labels:
      Vitamin C-ascorbic acid, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, sodium ascorbyl phosphate, ascorbyl tetroisopalmitate, ascorbyl palmitate
      Vitamin A-retinyl palmitate, retinal acetate, retinol propionate, retinol, retinaldehyde, retinoic acid
      Alpha Hydroxy Acids-Glycolic, Lactic, Malic, Tartaric, Citric, Mandelic
      Depending on what you use how you layer them, you could be sensitizing your skin in certain areas? Do you feel the burning all over, or just on certain areas. Perhaps you are applying products to very delicate areas of the skin? I have many questions as you can see.
      Please let us know, I would love to try and help!

    • @janelidzekate

      Dear Devon, thank you so much for your respond, I appreciate it so much!!! At that time I used vitamin C - L-ascorbic acid plus ferulic acid and 1% vitamin E, from Drunk Elephant in the mornings, after the Jordan Samuel Hyaluronic acid and then put embryolisse light cream - a little bit and then sunscreen (I wait at least 5 minutes before putting one product after another) and finally makeup (I use makeup every day). I used aha-s just two times a week and it’s very light (lactic and glycolic pads from First Aid Beauty) in the mornings. As for the retinol - I used 1% Retinol from Skinceuticals. I double cleanse in the evenings - first heimish cleansing balm and then Youth to the People age prevention superfood cleanser; In the mornings Jordan Samuel plie gel cleanser. I put retinol after 15 minutes I wash my face , it feels really calming when I put it on the skin (this is my routine for more than 6 months already, only vitamin c product was new - I started to use it a month ago). When I started using mineral sunscreen (Drunk Elephant 30 %spf, 20 % zinc), dry patches occurred on second day near my chin, and all the face started kinda burning, more in tingling way. So, I stopped using this product. And in 10 days I received Skinceuticals 30 % spf (7% zinc - I thought lesser percentage would be better), my skin started to burn in a slower motion, at first i didn't notice and in three days I felt my whole skin was burning a little bit (I sweat on the face frequently, and as I sweat the skin burnt more and more when wearing abovementioned products, this kind of burn feeling has never happened before). I immediately stopped to use every product, and was just washing in the mornings and evenings and a moisturizer (Clinique moisture surge), and in 6 days, my skin has calmed down. I am so picky about products and how to use them, because I have lots of broken capillaries on the cheeks and it creates lots of redness, which is a huge discomfort for me, I suffer with these redness from my childhood. Maybe I am overdoing something? I am trying to have a good care for my skin, and sometimes even overdoing my budget )). and I want it to work. I am so sorry to bother you, but even a little bit advice will mean a lot to me!

    • @NeridaJoySkincare
      @NeridaJoySkincare  6 лет назад +1

      Hello Kate, first you have to stop your vitamin C, as you may be allergic to it from what you have said. Second, true mineral makeup is the way to go that is much higher in the physical zinc and Titanium then the one you mentioned. Colorscience...even up or the sunforgetables powder is great. You now have to get back to basics as your skin has a chemical burn and /or eczema. I would say in the rejuvi line the K cleanser, healing gel, q flavonoid (PM) and the n night cream to use both morning and night. Use this for two week and your skin will be better> you will then be able to incorporate your other products .... keep me posted!

    • @devon.pfeifer
      @devon.pfeifer 6 лет назад +2

      Kate, I suspect it is your vitamin C as well that may be the issue as you say you have been doing your routine for 6 months and more recently incorporated your vitamin C. Though I have another question-you said you use the AHA pads twice a week in the mornings... do you use the vitamin C alongside it? I don’t know the pads personally, but a lot of AHA’s that are in a liquid pad solution often have a lower pH, such as a 3.0, which means anything you put on there afterward, like a vitamin C, will penetrate more. I would say if you’re going to use the pads, do not use any other actives following, unless your skin is strong and can handle that. Same with your retinol. Use the pads on a night where you are not using retinol. And no, I would say you need to include a higher zinc percentage of sunscreen.
      If you are like me, and have over processed/sensitized your skin, or parts of your skin, like I have recently, Eucerin has an eczema relief cream that will help tremendously with the skin barrier.
      Also, I would agree with Nerida, the healing gel and Q flavonoid are wonderful for your condition. Treat your skin very carefully. More is not always more with strong actives.
