      Out of curiosity, was the client on a diuretic birth control pill, i.e. Yaz, Yasmin, et al., and/or the prescription drug Spironolactone (commonly prescribed for acne) that contributed to the overall dehydration of the skin? Or was it simply lifestyle? Thank you for the incredible work you do, Nerida!💛💕

      WinterCJ even if nerida knew the answer to that question, it would be a violation for her to share thuy’s private medical information. I doubt estheticians are expected to adhere to HIPAA, but it’s still an inappropriate question to ask.

    I love the healing gel and the exfoliating mask you recommended ! I just got the flavonoid complex! How should I apply it to my regime routine for the healing gel and flavonoid complex? Can I also ask what's the difference between a vitamin c serum vs flavonoid ?

    • @NeridaJoySkincare
      @NeridaJoySkincare  6 лет назад +2

      Q Flavonoid is used as your night time serum. You can mix a little with the healing gel before applying your nighttime moisturizer. The q flavonoid offers more nutrients to the skin lower layers and supports the capillaries. The vitamin C fights free radicals and protects the skin from the sun rays ....more topical:))

    Hello Nerida, As a 58 year old, your recommendations help make my skin better. I love your massage techniques and want to try it on my skin but i have always heard that skin massage loosens and stretches the skin. As an older person, I am concerned with any additional stretching. I ‘d like to ask your expertise regarding this because I would like to start facial massage to assist in aiding my skin. Your videos show that massage would be more beneficial than not and it’s something I am seriously considering. Thank you!

      Hello Tina,
      Yes, massage stimulates muscle tone. If you are pulling it, that is not right. If you are massaging, as you see in my videos, it is bring oxygen to the blood and stimulating muscle tone. There is a right and wrong way for sure:)) Great question though, Thank you:)

I find that I have to continue adding water and/or product as it always starts to dry out, and I’ve never seen you have to do that? Thank you!

    Oh, I have another question! What do you think is a sufficant amount of time for room turn over? I have everything I need in my treatment room, including linens in a closed cabinet. Right now my spa allows only 5 mins (guest off the table, get dressed, give them water, give them their home care sheet, walk up to front, talk about their treatment plan, turn around, flip the room make the table etc) to get my next guest. Sometimes the guest takes 3-4 mins to get redressed and put all their jewlery back on. It feels IMPOSSIBLE 90% of the time, unless it's a regualr of mine and they don't have any pending questions. Any advice?

    • @NeridaJoySkincare
      @NeridaJoySkincare  5 лет назад

      We allow 15 minutes. Most of the time when a client gets off the bed they look at their phone for a bit.... yes, 5 minutes would be very tight and stressful for me:))

    • @NeridaJoySkincare
      @NeridaJoySkincare  6 лет назад +2

      Not that familiar with the green peel to comment...sorry! Hydrafacial....don't like suction machines on many skin types as it loosens the skin long term and causes capillary damage. Microneedling can be effect for scarring ....depends. I personally would prefer to work with aha's and retinols. Seeing problems with more melasma and the micro needling.

      Regarding the green peel... are you referring to the dr shrammeck green peel? It works... but there is a lot of down time from it and it is extremely painful from what I have heard. Although I have also heard they have come out with a few versions of the peel? But the one I know of is not fun. You don’t need to create so much trauma to get a better skin. That is my philosophy.

    I've wanted to start a retinoid for a while, but I haven't because I wax my eyebrows. Unfortunately where I live we don't have a good threading place and I definitely don't have the skills to tweeze.

    • @devon.pfeifer
      @devon.pfeifer 6 лет назад +2

      Aly Marie you can still use retinoids even if you wax. When you get your brows waxed just avoid the area where you are waxed. I would say three days post wax is when you can use retinoids around the area again.

    • @dawntruss635
      @dawntruss635 6 лет назад +1

      I want Nerida to weigh in on this because I do threading because of Retin A and I would rather wax 1000x more. Waxing is so fast and nice. @Nerida Joy . I can go a week without using Retin A if that would work!

    • @NeridaJoySkincare
      @NeridaJoySkincare  6 лет назад

      Yes, you would have to stop using retinol at least a week prior depending on your skin and the strength of your retinol:)) Waxing usually is a problem so if you are to taking off skin sadly, you can also have melasma begin both under and above the brow too. I tweeze, as its better for the skin long term anyway:))

      Donna McLaren sunscreen usually refers to products with the chemical UV filters that absorb the rays, whereas sunblocks refer to physical UV filters which reflect the rays. However these days they’re almost interchangeable, as many brands will say “mineral sunscreen” which has physical filters as well.

      Thank you Devon Pfeifer! I believe (and please dear Nerida correct me if i'm wrong) but the best is to have one that has both physical and chemical.
      Im currently on retin-a 0.5 and i bathe in my sunscreen every morning then reapply depending how much ill be outside. Have given up foundation haha.

      Sunblock usually are higher with the physical opaque zinc and/or titanium or mineral blocks. Sunscreens tend to be higher with the chemical protection.... lower physical (lighter in texture). I am a Sunblock lover personally....:))

    Thanks Nerida, I had no idea about layering sunscreen... I'm going to start that today! You truly are an amazing teacher.
    On another note, when I get a facial they put rubbing alcohol on my face, which really drys it out. Is that common practice Nerida?

      Thank you so much Ashley:))))))) As for the rubbing alcohol... never done that on anyone's face in my life...how strange! Are you getting facials at a germs office?

      Yes at a place in San Diego. I don't get them their anymore because after the facial/microdermabrasion I was burnt for weeks around the mouth. It left a scar.

      Nerida Joy at esthetic schools they teach to use alcohol before you start microdermabrasion(powder)

      Some esthetician uses alcohol on the skin as an antiseptic prep and to dry out the surface of skin. It was done prior to dermaplanning. Prior to microneedling. Not sure if it’s an old practice taught in school. Is it necessary??

    I ended up purchasing the q flavonoid. Sadly, it does seem to break me out. A lot of lotions or oils do. Should I not be leaving it on my skin?

      There are many variables... do you mind sharing what you use, as well as tell us about your skin?

      I have normal/oily t zone skin. I breakout very easily, hormonal and from products, or bad habits. I do a lot of skincare. Mostly with The ordinary and Korean products. I have to pay attention and only add one thing at a time to see how my skin does. I have it in a good place now thankfully. I did mix the rejuvi oil in with my lotion last night and my skin looked great this morning. I'll try this every other night for now!

    Retinol doesn’t make skin more sensitive to sun. It’s an anti-oxidant that actually helps prevent UVR damage.
