    Looks good. Just tried this out and my favorite combo is bloom shader combined with eye adjustment shader. Makes looking at bright things feel way brighter and simulates HDR, so the bloom effect is dynamic. Similar to that tech demo for half life 2. There were some awesome cinematic lens flare effects too that made this game look cooler. I cant stop playin with it

    You know the first time I heard system shock soundtrack, I think was the first one actually.. like I wanted to I wanted it but I just couldn't, like the mood set and everything was so contrasting to what I've been trained to.. I wonder if it would have had more effect as a horror game back in 94 before genre tropes had been established more or less... but for system shock 2 soundtrack, and initially I just turned it off cuz I figured it was going to be the same effect.. like it hits you kind of off putting and you've kind of got some preconceptions from the first one, as far as how it's scored.. so years later, I have a playlist put together I've just random thing... Happens to have a system shock 2bgameplay loop, and I was passed out in a lot of pain.. and just couldn't really move and was just like fuck it it's it's not really bothering me I guess.. and the more that track would play the more I started to absolutely fucking love it, and it is genuinely starting to be one of the the strangest obsessions of mine just mentally documenting how insidious it is and how well put together it is just simple loop like you have in this video..
    also get a really really quality appreciation for how it plays out in the game, like I know the guys known for dynamic music and he tried to do a proper dynamic track in system shock 1.. if you had the right hardware of course given it was midi music, often you can get a completely different sound if you didn't have the right equipment.. and I really respect that, like he did he did all the things.. just tonally it felt so antithetical to what I'm so used to with a horror game.. apparently he did less on this one cuz nobody cared about the first one, or noticed that it was actually doing Dynamics.. either by fault of the medi or just like myself the genre... But fuck me, I'm not saying he got better.. but he managed to mix it in with so much skill. It's really too bad that while obviously he went on to basically create the fucking music game.. in the rock band and whatnot and has made that his career, I mean that's good obviously but I really like selfishly wish he had stuck to audio design for narrative games.. so far ahead of his time, but everything about system shock was ahead of its time.. hell even system shock 2 was ahead of its time in some ways.. at least consistent with the first one, just held back by that animation from just being a technical equivalent to the first one in terms of scope.. but fuck, I've never gone from being so well okay I have I've gone from hating a genre to liking a genre but I never thought about it as it was happening LOL.

    • @JosephMelia
      @JosephMelia  Год назад

      I always liked the soundtrack..people complain about it, but I love it.

    • @jakedill1304
      @jakedill1304 Год назад

      @@JosephMelia the first one or the second one..? Cuz I mean I can see the first one being likable especially if you're in the midi music and you have an ear for it.. I just don't have an ear for midi music I didn't grow up with it, I never had a PC in the 90s that could play multimedia in that regard, at least not enough to be confident and I couldn't usually run the titles that would involve that LOL and I wasn't into music either at that age.. by the time I started doing all of those things and had sound cards and whatnot midi was just not something that you did unless you were in the MIDI like bubble of that earliest '90s just before the end of the late 90s...
      Which is funny because sample music is something that I'm a big fan of, and watching my buddy put together tracks virtually you could swap out what he's doing with MIDI instructions if you're using the same sample libraries but.. I'm not really sure how many replicated instruments I mean I thought in some cases they used actual libraries of sound recording, or maybe there just wasn't enough instruction set whereas if you're sitting down and fine-tuning it through pro tools or logic and reason... Maybe that's what makes the difference I'm not sure, is virtually the same idea though..
      I kind of wonder if part of the problem was so much that people were using the wrong directory library things, so much is that the standard that had to be maintained to ensure like a reasonable quality playback of what the artist was intending was not the best maybe.. or limited in some capacity so that they couldn't carry it that much further.. legitimately fascinated by a lot of that stuff, I've always been a huge fan of sound cards and audio processing cuz I did grow up enough early enough for that to still have been a thing, for the 6th and 7th generation gutted the concept of sound design in gaming forever..
      and it is definitely something where it's like I've acquired sounds that I disliked significantly when I was younger I've gone through transitionary. Where I actively did not like a sound or a genre or a style or an instrument and then a few weeks later it's my favorite thing in the whole world.. I kind of had that relationship with the system shock 2 soundtrack LOL..
      There's ever something I wish they would do and you could probably do this with mods it would be to make the system shock2 soundtrack function the way the first one did, like the chaos theory or the Doom remakes.. where you have that constant mix.. you'd have to do two things though, one find somebody familiar enough with the game and the game setting so that it would actually work, including those long bouts of silence which are important.. and then you'd have to be good enough at the music end, so it wouldn't be so much as like a fix as it would be you'd actually need an artist to pull this off..
      Now if only we knew of a talented musician who is very familiar with sample work, and also a lover of the system shock series and understanding of its atmosphere and with a good head for house sound design and music design works.. I feel like there's a name somewhere on the tip of my tongue here, can't quite place it...
      Maybe somebody with a Grim Beard, that's that's all that I'm able to grasp from The ether here, cough, cough..
