Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals just rampaged on through in the last week and I went to give my PC an update from a Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D for the best performance this motherboard can handle! Join in as I walk through updating a motherboard's BIOS, installing the new processor an RAM upgrade as well as some gaming benchmarks. Игры
Y'all going to cyber bully me into making a PC cleaning video. 🤣
Edit: And I was aware the original RAM was installed in the wrong slots.
This was corrected with the new sticks. Sometimes things slip through. 🤪
I'd say it's a petty excuse. Half-assed cleaning could hamper your desktop's performance significantly though. You're also unnecessarily exposing your desktop into a chance of shorting due to those thickened dusts.
Skipping to record the cleaning part wouldn't hurt your recording session in order to stay with the topic, which is focusing on the upgrade itself. 🤷♂️
I find it funny that you actually interpret those as "cyber bullying". 🤔
I'd say the ram in the wrong slot and being slower model is probably the reason for a huge chunk of that performance gain you got
No you weren't, because you had no clue about the BIOS beyond how'd I'd would work on a Gigabyte bord.
I think the video is misleading because it makes the 3600 look worse then it actually is due too single channel ram. You should either redo the tests or at least put a disclaimer that the data shown is inaccurate.
As they should, that PC is gross.
his definition of nice and clean scares me
Same.
Hahaha, same. I keep my rig under positive pressure and clean the inlet areas regularly.
I upgraded from a 2700x to the 5800x3d a few weeks ago. Love the improvement I got.
Im in mind to buy a 5700x or 5800x 3d i have a 6750 XT, and a 2700 non x.
I'm gonna get teh hyzen 7700x3d when it comes out. Cause my fav game really likes teh 5800x3d currently has a i7 12700f though
i just upgraded to a 5800x 3d from an i7 4790k, what a difference lol
@@jonnysedge7412 i upgraded from a 1700x to a 5900x a year ago, was a huge jump in performance as well :D
Imagine what you would have seen if you got an actual GOOD cpu ,, say a 13600k ?
Oh boy, that computer system needs one heck of a serious cleaning. It would have been nice to see a good cleaning of it and then the installation of the new processor and ram into a nice clean system and then temps and gaming performance. 😊😉
Couldn't agree more. 👌 Alas, he interpret those as cyber bullying instead. 😅
what a disgusting pc ! The cleaning of the PC was half assed,
Never have i seen a more filthy pc in my life! Even after "cleaning" its still filthy..
did an upgrade from 2600 to 5700x, can really feel the difference, especially in GOW and HZD .. no longer drops below 60fps and stuttering at times lol .. subbed!
5800X3D is such a great farewell chip for AM4. 5800X3D is a beast upgraded my 9900k to one and even at 3440x1440, I noticed a big difference in smoothness with an RTX 3090.
yea great chip. but i stick with my 3900x @4.450Ghz 1900mem 12core CineBR23 15300 score it is probably very simpilar than the 5800x3d and i only paid 200 for it xD
@@jeroen5736 I get around 14600 in Cinebench R23 But that makes sense You got a lot more cores. Really this thing's big caveat is gaming performance. Mostly at 1080p as well.
But I did notice quite a big difference in lows and averages versus my old 9900K that it replaced.
Plus in CPU bottlenecked games I got quite a big bump in FPS all around like Spider-Man Cyberpunk games like that.
Same exact setup here. I went from a 9900k to a 5800x3d as well. Day to day tasks feel pretty much the same, but definitely getting a better gaming experience (though I didn't really have any complaints with the 9900k lol)
@@digitalronin7495 Only a few games were really held back by my 9900k other than that it was a great CPU. Since I sold the 9900k for $408 I almost upgraded for free (had the X570 Taichi laying around already).
@@XxViciousxX ye more cores but the 5800x3d has more treads 16 i have 12 yes i know normally it is 24 but i cannot overclock it like this with 24 the temps would go to high .
that is the only downside with 5800x3d seems you cannot overclock it that much got a locked multiplier . still great cpu .
Congrats on the update
I did this exact upgrade a couple of months ago. Already had 32Gb of RAM but did the 3600 to 5800X3D upgrade. I was fortunate enought o be running an X570 board already though.
Love this upgrade
Great video of performance upgrade. Nice recovery on the RAM.
I am upgrading from a 3600 to the 5800x3d. Great video thanks for sharing! Based on this video the increase in performance should be amazing.

@@hadifelani NO WAY. you telling me you got better perfomance in a cpu heavy game with a cpu from 2022 instead of a cpu in 2019

My kids just picked up the Ryzen 7 5800X3D for my pc for Christmas. Happy to have the best CPU for gaming my motherboard can use as well.
Hey man, I really like your way of presenting. You got such a cool voice and style of narration.
recently completed an upgrade from 3700x to 5800x3d myself... AM4 is great!
I'm doing that tomorrow!! Can't wait!
Are the gains worth the upgrade?
Same here, have it sitting around for over a month already but wanted to wait sonce doing a CPU upgrade is always such a hassle 😅

@@kemari47 probably not... but I'm an enthusiast... and FPS is nice in multiplayer titles... better minimums too
Great video and fantastic results! I'm looking to upgrade my 10 year old gaming PC to a 5800X3D and 4070 TI. Currently have an old i7 with a GTX 1070.
I upgraded from the same cpu,HUGE difference the 5800x3d is a gaming beast
Just got my 5800x3d in the mail today. Lets gooooo
I upgraded from Z490-A-PRO and 10700k to X570 Crosshair VIII Dark Hero and 5800X3D. Absolutely love it!
The RAM was in single channel!
Everyone is a critic! But seriously, thanks for making this video. I have a 5800x3D coming in the mail tomorrow and this helped me confirm what to do 👍
I have 32Gb ram, Ryzen 7 5800X, Asus RTX 3070 Ti TUF OC. I could be happier but I am happy!
I also like this processor and also upgraded my PC with it.
My 4090 freaking loves this processor. Upgraded from a 5600 X really great improvement. Good video
How do you know how much thermal paste you have to use? What happens if you apply too much?
@@nocturnaljoe9543nothing happens, just waste of product and a bit messing your socket. just spread evenly and drop a little more in the center

I have same motherboard with ryzen 1600, change to 5800x3d with NH-D15 and 32gb 3200mhz ram to this week , insane changes on my games stability, congratulations for your new config and video!
I got the same coolers you I installed the 5800 x 3D but it seems like it runs hot I don't know if that's supposed to do that.
When benchmarking with Furkmark it hits 89 very quickly and other ones it goes into the 80° territory.
I undervolted a slight bit and it dropped to around 74°.
With about a 1% or so hit.
Didn't know this ran so hot or what is called the new hot.
I have to update this I just took off the thermal paste and put on a bit more plus I believe I screwed in the not to a fan a little bit too hard now I'm getting 73° c without undervolting at full load.
Been put in the cooler on it's best to do a few turns on each one evenly just in case someone else has this issue try taking off the thermal paste reapplying and then don't put too much pressure on the fan I'm using I believe noctua d15.
Great video mate! Realistic performance review for the 'average' pc gamer build. I have a 3060 TI, 1440p and upgraded from a 3600 to the 5800X3D - massive improvement in quite a few games, especially the boost in the lows - games are smooth now. You even covered World of Warcraft, which this CPU shines at with MMORPG. More reviewers need to consider MMORPG in their list of games. Nice job :)
Awesome vidi man! I’m in the exact same position as you and I’m trying to convince myself to pull the trigger on this upgrade!
Thanks for that WoW Dragonflight benchmark!
My man been using his ram in single channel for like 4 years 🤣🤣
Great video Thank you !
I upgraded from 3600+GTX 1080 to 5800x3D+RTX 4090 and my friend upgraded from 2600X+GTX 1080Ti to 5800x3D+6950XT and we are both blown away by the difference. You are not going to believe how much do you move on with performance after you do GPU upgrade with this CPU.
I'm looking to upgrade my 3600X on a B450 to the 5800X3D and this basically answered all of my questions. Thank you very much.
Just did this last week. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Just make sure to update your bios and get a high-end cooler.

I just snagged the Ryzen 7 5800X3D ($279.99) to upgrade my older Zen 2. I play a mix of old and new games with amazing uplifts! Supreme Commander Forged Alliance used to chug and freeze before upgrade. Now the game runs fast smooth on my favorite bigger maps. I'm very pleased with my investment in AM4 and Ryzen.
Very good video
The ram slots are red and black so when you put 2 dimms you color match.
That old ram was installed in single channel (1 red and 1 black slot populated) Oupsy!
nice , I think especially since the 5800x3d doesn't rely on optimal ram its an honest to god great upgrade for your motherboard only allowing 3200mhz ram.
The RUclips algorithm has blessed you.
Nice upgrade; but what I can't understand at all is that you don't clean the very dirty PC properly. Especially that you already have it open and partially disassembled.
Funny I found this. My exact mobo which went from a 1600, to a 3600x and now a 5800x3d. 3070 is still running fine after a few years.
i just ordered the 5800x3d. upgrading from the 5600x. definitely should have cleaned while you had everything open! lol
I think you need to clean a bit more often cause DAMN.
congrats! you're well covered for many years to come, what a cpu you got now!
i don't know how much you will benefit if you upgrade from pcie gen 3 to pcie gen 4 motherboard. (since you got an rtx 30 fe card + ryzen 7 5800x3d)
also, i would prefer to install the stand-offs, that motherboard flexing hurts to watch.
I've upgraded from a i7 8700k to the Ryzen 5800X3D and performance improvements seemed to be way bigger than big benchmarks showed, like the performance jumps in this video. The old i7 8700k is similar in performance to the Ryzen 3600 though, and games I play are usually very demanding on the CPU.
i just did this too, my ol 3950x has been a great work PC but i dont do as much actual work with my PC these days so i said F it and cut my core count in half and DOUBLED frames in many old games i love. this CPU is amazing for old game engines with tons of detailed NPCS, like STALKER, all the old fallouts, skyrim etc. it was also less than half the price of my 3950x when it was new, and actually outperforms it in photoshop and lightroom as well for my photo work.
Are you playing only em 1080p? That's the only explanation....
@@cparoli1111 no, 1440p with a 3090. as long as you arent gpu bound, you will see gains. the only resolution i dont see a huge gain is 4k obviously but there is still a small improvement around 8-10 percent. in heavily modded skyrim, 1440p i went from around 40 fps in heavily populated areas (whiterun, solitude) to 70-80 fps. in stalker GAMMA, i went from a hugely cpu limited 50 fps to over 100 in many areas. My 3090 is actually being used now, before, it would never reach even 70 percent utilization on that game.
My Ryzen 7 5700x and Cooler Master ML240 just came in today.
Coming from the same setup minus the dust lol
When I updated my bios for 5000 series I actually did the same thing, forgot to check the box to backup bios. Slight Panic but glad it finished boy.
I was planning to do the exact same thing and i come across this.
I had a 3900x paired with a 4090. I was getting stutter nation or frame drops. It simply would not keep up with the 4090. Once I upgraded to the 5800x3d, performance came back and it was buttery smooth. The 1% lows were soo much better and the smoothness was night and day. I would say, if you're still on the am4 platform and older zen processors than this would be a good upgrade. If you're building a new system than i would suggest investing in the newest. I game at 5120x1440p ultrawide@240hz
damn I have the almost same build, this gonna be a great help to my upgrade journey. Already have the ram 32gigs 3200mhz, GPU RX 6800, Corsair CX 650M, Mobo at old BIOS I tried updating the bios from the gigabyte @Bios app but it fails idk why will have to do it your way now.
Trying to grab a 5800x or X3d which ever I can get my hands on... Currently on 2600 lol
I need that upgrade asap😭😭
As someone that also has a RTX 3070, I upgraded my R5 3600 to the recent 5700x3d. I'm happy I got a frame bump in many games that I play, but the ones that stayed the same is definitely because of the it was GPU bound.
Doing this upgrade but to 5700x3d a year later, and I was kinda surprised of how much similarity there is between the build on your end and my build, down to the same mobo brand and case.
Your ram was not even in proper dual channel lanes from the start.
its different for every motherboard. Its either 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. It should say on your mobo instruction paper
Great video i like the games you tested. I also got the same gains rtx 3070 5600x > 5800x3d. This cpu is a beast Im planning on getting a 4070ti or 5000 serieis gpu to pair with it....
Why you didnt clean the tower while you had it out :/
I recommend a better thermal paste.
Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme is probably the best paste out there right now. I lowered the temps on my 5800X3D by 7°C just from switching to this paste. Also wipe CPU Heatspreader and your coolers coldplate with Isopropyl alcohol before applying new paste.
I upgraded from a 1600 af oc'ed 3.9 to 5800x3d, still have my 5700 xt and it was 60-90% more fps at 1440 rez. I might get a 6800 xt in the future. I play a lot of Rust, Tarkov and classic wow. Oh yeah additionally, I went from 16gb 3200 to 32gb 3600 when I got the new cpu.
DUDE CLEAN THAT SHIT FIRST!
Thanks man. Apex really is a very optimized game unlike warzone.
I hope you don’t do a house cleaning service, I’d ask for my money back 😂😂
why was the original ram not installed for dual channel?
Yeah that is also strange to me
You should also look at the %1 lows apparently that CPU really helps with stutters and such
Just got this cpu paired with a 3060ti
crazy to think you can put this beast onto a 5 year old board
Irrelevant!
Hello, I'm in the process of changing my whole pc. And one of the components I wanted was a Fractal Design Meshify Pc case. It sees seems that's the case you got there, but I'm stunned at how much dust you got on your motherboard and everywhere. I thought that case had good dust filters.
I am stunned with soo many questions, also. It is as if, his pc is on shag carpet while cats were throwing hair balls directly into the case.
But I also have an open mesh front PC case, air cooled. With three 120's pulling in fresh air. with 2 exhaust and 1 pushing air into the graphics cards from below. Taking in starting temps first. I then added filters directly to my 3 intake fans, -behind- the front open mesh of the pc case. Double filtering-ish. And also my power supply. None of course on the exhausts.
It increased temps by a couple of degrees, case wide. But the max GPU stayed at a frosty 73degrees C and CPU 65ish. Which is fine for longevity.
All fans are on curves and still very quiet.
Meshify cases, with their front mesh, has larger in sized holes then you might think. Enough to filter hair, but not fine dust. Filters are a good idea, as long as it doesn't effect your case temps negatively. Best of luck.
@@rwhite9994well some places can indeed be a dust magnet without any particular reason. 😅
Im doing the same upgrade later in this month. Man how could you pc got so dusty ? You have a great tool to clean it why not do it every 5-6 months :D
A Ryzen 5 3600 still is a very nice processor and can be used for essentially anything short of high level gaming.
I would recommend turning it into a media center + NAS + casual (vintage) gaming system plugged to your TV.
Just get yourself a PC remote, an AMD RX 470/580/5500/6400 level GPU, a cheap compact computer case and 461€ - not much for what it can do, and this is with all new components except your CPU + RAM.
yo man you had your ram in single channel kekw mate
I upgraded to a 5800X3D around 2 months ago from a 5700X (I also, like you, have a RTX 3070, mine is the Tuf Gaming OC version) and my cooler is also a Noctua, but mine is a 12UH-A. For what I use my computer for, which is everyday use such as web browsing, video streaming, paying bills (lol) and GAMING, I couldn't be happier with the performance of the 5800X3D. I game at 1440p, with a 144hz refresh rate monitor...the results on many of the games are sometimes mind-blowing. A definite recommendation for gamers on the AM4 platform. I would not invest all of the money for Zen 4 CPU and mother boards, ram...to only have maybe 10-15% more gaming performance. Ridiculous!
So get 5800x3d over 5700x?
I have 5700x, you said you have same. Now you upgrade to 5800x3d. Can you more describe the difference? Same like in video ?
@@marekh3333 I've described the difference already: there's higher frame rates and performance with the 5800X3D

just updated mine, these cpus are fast, but they get a lil toasty! also i had my bios on a version that excepted this processor, but turned out to wrong as it wouldnt boost lol. Is this a pc build guide or another episode of "Barn Find"? 🤣
After the cpu cooler dismantling, I was expecting to see a rat nest.
*Even though I'm on a R7 5700X, I'm really considering to upgrade to this processor and ride AM4 out for a while, plan to upgrade to 32GB of RAM as well.*

Still on the fence. Currently running a 5600X. Runs my RX6800 just fine and I am playing a lot more at 4K. Not sure if its worth the $300usd update.

do you have to update your bios in order to upgrade your cpu from say a ryzen 7 3800x to a ryzxen 7 5800x3d ? if so i wont be upgrading, looks to difficult
Upgrading your motherboard BIOS is SUPER EASY! For most motherboards, all you really need is a flash drive to load the .bin file onto then boot into your bios and select the upgrade option available to you. Some even have a BIOS Flash button built onto the motherboard itself so you can press the button and upgrade it from there. Check with your mobo manufacturer for more details on it.
OK, fair enough. Good upgrade, that was a good CPU upgrade. Like, you didn't show anything dangerous or wrong, helpful if you have a Gigabyte motherboard. Other motherboards have a different procedure.
Thermal paste swap is good.
You could have mentioned, memory speed, is that 3200mhz? It ought to be 3733, but OK, it was installed correctly.
Memory speed from 3200hz doesn’t see a difference to your recommendation till you get to 4000hz. And I’m talking about up to 15-20 more fps.
great video!
May I ask how's ur 3070 FE temps, with this gigantic cpu cooler?
I have a very similar situation, also 3070 FE and the Thermalright FC140 - and I noticed that my 3070 got warmer since I upgraded my cpu cooler, from the stock cooler (5600x).
Its sure helped my CPU haha, but I wonder if the amount of air that the cpu tower requires, takes some of the needed GPU air as well.
Have you experienced a similar issue?
