    I really like that you embrace the idea that it is completly OK if you just want to play cool stuff. Learning the basics, the proper techniques is important, but not everyone wants to be the most technically skilled drummer. Some of us just wants to have fun, and playing cool stuff is fun, even if it is easy to play.

      As a drummer, and a person who marches snare. It is the most fun you will have as long as you dedicate some time to it

      I’ve picked it up last summer so almost 1 year in. Just had a successful learning day and I can tell it’s really worth it. Fun and healthy for the brain, plus you can sound cool ;)

    When I started playing the drums back in the beginning of the eighties, I had some heroes: Ian Paice, Cozy Powell, Mick Tucker (The Sweet), Brian Downey, and I went crazy on the drums making a Frankenstonian mix of them all, at the same time. It was fun!

    Your personality is so nice you make me want to listen to you for ages. I actually look forward to seeing your next burst of drumming enthusiasm. You are cool in a really nice way. Thank you.. I’ve not even got any drums but I still listen to you. Looks very hard to me don’t know how ya do it.. what I mean is how ya get one hand to count and the other is counting something else then ya foot is doing another. There’s the question how do you get your brain to make that happen.. any way ya brilliant.. keep up the good work. Skol near York!

    When i was first starting out i was taught to duet with a metronome. Same principle, really. Let the metronome play several bars, then play several bars of a fill or simple rhythm.

    As a beginner what would be a better drumser to buy, acoustic or electric??

    • @Lucy-qd5gq
      @Lucy-qd5gq 6 месяцев назад +2

      Probably electric, takes up less room and quieter and cheaper

    • @bigl6322
      @bigl6322 6 месяцев назад +2

      I would totally go electric. Compact, more versatile, play with literally thousands of different drum/cymbal sounds/types/tunings etcetera until you figure out what you like.
      Once you start playing an actual kit, as your ear developes, you’ll start buying different cymbals, different snares etc and all of a sudden you have a damn drum pro shop in your freaking guitar studio…lol

    • @abriellajones884
      @abriellajones884 6 месяцев назад

      @@bigl6322 I'm really worried about the feel of the actual drum and cymbals, since I have to play an acoustic drum set for my band. Do they have generally the same bounce or does on have more bounce or less??

    • @jimlaw8199
      @jimlaw8199 6 месяцев назад +2

      Folks here are talking about convenience, but from a MUSICAL stand-point, do yourself a favour: Learn on an ACOUSTIC drum kit!
      An acoustic kit forces you to develop your touch, to hit each drum and cymbal properly to get a good, musical sound, and it will improve your timing and stamina as you move hands over larger distances and piush the kick pedal harder.
      An electric kit makes you sound better than you really are because you're hitting pre-recorded "sound triggers" rather than actual skins, so it makes a great sound no matter how you hit it.
      If you learn on an electric, when you switch to an acoustic you will feel LOST.
      Thank me later.

    Even though Im not a beginner & basically always had a natural rhythm feel, it's still a great advice to share with people who may not be as blessed or naturally gifted.
    I actually took a hiatus from drums to learn more musical instruments like guitar as well.
    Because now that I know what other band members are doing & truly understand music theory & what not, it's so much easier & fun to add beats & fills that compliment their playing as well, to give the audience the ultimate musical experience.
    Also your british accent is absolutely gorgeous & so elegant. And you seem like a very happy & nice person.
    You're basically the Mary Spender of drums. (Shes a singer guitarist, who also has a RUclips channel)
    Bless you & happy holidays everyone !
