This is lesson is great, CJ! IMO you manage to break down every single lesson in an understandable way for everyone. Thanks for your dedication to the community!
Love all your videos. This one is especially great for beginners like me, but a huge request, can you show the fills you use in the video between the grooves? Especially the intro and outro. It gets boring just practicing the groove, and although you teach lots of great fills, they’re hard to incorporate as a beginner. You’ve got these fills already in place, let’s learn them! Thanks.
Thanks, Jonathan!! I'm glad you enjoy my content! I've made a few short-lessons of some of the fills I'm using in this video, so you can check them out on my other channel: www.youtube.com/@30SecondDrumLessons And I'll link another video of a few of the rudiments I use the most in fills: ruclips.net/video/9D-kPqO-OhE/видео.html Cheers, mate!
Groove #5 is heard all over NYHC songs from the 80s and 90s. Sounds even better when the drummer's an open handed lefty playing on a righty kit. ruclips.net/video/HgWU51Una7Y/видео.html Another great vid as usual and very education for us non-drummers. 🤘🤘
Hello!! I'm your new fan, I've seen many of your videos and everything is fantastic!! Thank you for all of your lessons. I'll try to complete them all as is possible to me. RUclips is not an easy game to play so just wanted encourage a fellow creator to keep doing what you're doing. Thank you
I'm from Malaysia.I really enjoy your lessons and its easy to follow. We usually played the 6/8 in church for Hymns and Order of Mass.I like the funky displacement.
As a complete beginner, I felt almost a little sad that those are called „grooves for beginners“ because, oh boy, they felt hard 😅 But I like all of them and it was exactly what I was looking for! I‘ll just have to spend a week or so per beat to learn it 😊 Thanks for the help!
Hi Swedish Drummer. Man I love your channel. I'm a beginner and I have learned a lot from you. You are a great teacher. Can you do a video on Punk Rock Drum Grooves.? Thanks again and keep them videos coming!
I love your videos, man! I'm reintroducing myslef to the drums after many years. I love the sound of your toms in this video. Can you suggest how I can get a similar sound? I see the gel pads, which I have. Do you pad the inside of your toms? I'm trying to get the same type of thud.
My tip is to tune the bottom heads a bit tighter than the batter head, and I put a few cotton balls inside the floor toms. But you also gotta take into consideration that there are a lot of factors that play into a drum sound. How you tune it, the wood type, the shell size, how you play it, the room etc. Hope it helps! 🙌🔥
It’s a Pearl Reference Series drum kit, which is made out of hybrid wood shells. The bass drum and floor toms are maple and mahogany, the 10” rack tom is maple and birch, the 12” is 100% maple and the snare I’m using is a Sonor Benny Greb signature brass snare ✌️🔥
CJ, you should teach the teachers! I’ve learned more in the 5 lessons I have been practicing from your tutorials than I have in years. Great vids, the notation that accompanies your videos makes it soooooo clear! Thanks!
@@ThatSwedishDrummer well, I've only started playing just a few months ago, so the basic grooves are the best. Your beginner lessons are super helpful. Struggling with timing and coordination though. Maybe I have undiagnosed dyslexia 🙃
@@stevePDx Happy to hear my content is helpful! Timing and coordination takes time, so I wouldn't say dyslexia has anything to do with that (but hey, I'm no expert in that field). Remember that you can't rush progress and let things take time to come naturally! :)
I'm a new drummer and I saved this video. It is good for me as a beginner as it has grooves I'm familiar with and could quickly pick up, and a couple I'm going to have to work on and come back to later. Thank you.
Nice! Glad I stumbled across your channel! I've played guitar for decades and have dabbled here and there on drums, but finally got myself a kit. It's so great to learn relatively easy, but inspiring rhythms to work up my skills. Thank you!🤘🏽
later on in drumming, the 4-on-the-floor groove helps a lot when hitting kick and left hand together in other situations. who would have thought that this works good for other sruff too. Thank you!
I have got a school music exam, I really wanted to impress everyone. This was the perfect video. thank you for the awsome content! keep up the good work!
Im glad I found this channel! I finally found great tutorials without the gimmicks and self promotion of other drummer channels. I’ve been trying to teach myself drums for the past few years, and am getting nowhere! Keep up the great work!!
Practice is never useless, but faulty gear can definitely “hold you back”, so to speak. Sometimes I practice groove-stuff on a practice pad, so you can definitely still practice it - but I’d recommend you’d at least repair or get a new bass drum pedal 🙌🔥
CJ I love your videos so much! I love using your videos as my lesson after my drum lesson. I’ll check it out and see what I can do! ✌️🔥
Anyone know of any songs that use the 6/8 groove? Just learned that one and want to play it with some music.
Check out some Blues-songs. Many of them are in 6/8.

I'm glad you like it!!
I had to get my dad to help ne with the 6/8 groove becouse damn that was hard keep up man🔥
Yeah if you’re mostly used to 4/4, it can be tricky! 😊
Really interesting grooves, basic and creative, specially the 3d 👍
Thanks, buddy! 🙌
Really appreciate your videos! Can you give me some song recommendations for the first and second groove?
Thanks!! 😃 a lot of rock/pop songs use 4onthefloor. Try for example “Shut Up and Dance”! You can try both the first and the “Boots n Cats”-groove 🙌
I enjoyed ur video lot sir i’m going to drum lessons these days it helps me a lot thank you so much
Is it just me or do your drums and cymbals sound very short, like they dont make sound unless the stick touches it. It sounds amazing
Thanks, Jesse!
Sorry, but for my eyes you are playing different things when you are playing faster.
It can probably seem so since when you play faster, you use smaller movements! :)
