It's time to graduate from the good ole 8th note singles around the toms, or the pat boone debbie boone to something new and exciting, and absolutely musical.
This lesson is perfect for beginner or early intermediate drummers who need to work on their fill vocabulary. Each fill in the lesson is unique from each other and very useful.
We bring in different techniques and voices on the kit by implementing the hi-hat and linear style fills.
All 3 of these pack a punch and all beginner drummers should learn these 3 drum fills!

Yeah mate!! Keep going
Yes please!!!!!! I bought a kit 20 years ago and played for about a year and I was never really that good because my drums were too loud to practice at home so I only got to practice at band rehearsal. And that was really just playing songs rather than going over and over things like complex fills. Fast forward 20 years and I now own an Alesis Nitro Mesh kit which I bought about a week ago, and the combination of RUclips tutorials and being able to practice as long as I like without annoying anyone has resulted in me being back up to speed already. I've never incorporated the kick drum with fills before so I was keen to learn that last fill. Using the kick drum in the fill felt totally alien to me so consistency was all over the place at first but after half hour last night I had it at 60bpm. And tonight I managed to play along to you at 100bpm and it's starting to feel quite natural. So yeah, keep up the beginner lessons please :-)
Back 2 basix is always good
While you are waiting for more beginner content here, Beatdown Brown has helped me progress really fast, and I have been called rhythm impaired.
Yes please 😊
Evo’s are perfect exterior
Thank you teacher! I appreciate 🙏💚
Nice,, good. 👍👍
I have a question on the first fill why use right hand hi hat and right hand as first note on the snare?
it's easier to play this phrase like R-RL, imagine playing all these notes on the snare
There must be some sort of problem with the Webinar, I booked in to view it, clicked on the link from the email that was sent to me and an error message comes up saying my IP address is Blocked. I tried re-starting my pc and trying again, same thing happened. Nevermind.
I guess I’ve improved. Since beginner stuff seems super boring now.
Lol well that’s a good thing!
Eric!!! I met you at Grey and Cash the other day! You came into my shop and I couldn't put my finger on it until I saw this video!! Even tho it was brief you were still a pretty cool dude! I hope you liked your drinks and food!
Haha I remember man! I asked where you got your traditional tattoos! Dude that’s my spot btw, love the coffee and food. Im sure I’ll see you again there. Good to meet other drummers in the area. ✌🏼👊🏼
I recently started playing so I'm constantly watching videos and normally I feel totally lost. I'll definitely be watching more of yours, I'm still confused but I feel like watching yours that I'll get it!

Great lesson, 👍 thank you.
Bro, like always, I enjoy your instructional videos sooooo much. Thanks for all the work you put into your content 👍👍👍
😎👊🏼🙏🏼
Great vid as always! Biggest skill on show is the way you navigate that big ole snare mic, I'd smash that for sure!
You are awesome man !! Love it 😉👍
RUclips’s algorithm with connection “fills” brought me to your video so now I’ve subscribed as your teaching is so clear for relatively new beginners like me. I’m going to check out your free masterclass and see whether I can follow it. Thanks a lot!
i think you are a good teacher sir, i will watch more of your videos .
Just say with the vitamin is I don't want to watch a video I'm too busy you're just trying to make sales no matter what people have to go through just get on with it.
Greetings from Australia Eric. I’m a subscriber (paid) and just wanted to thank you for the way you deliver your lessons. It must require a huge amount of patience for a drummer as experienced as you to play at 60BPM but believe me you’ve changed the way I drum for the better! Love your work man 👍
Hi David, I recognize your last name, it’s unique over here where I’m from in the US, so I remember seeing when you signed up for the Total Drumming Program! That’s a huge compliment, and I truly appreciate that. Thank you for enrolling in the lessons and taking time to leave a comment man 🙏🏼👍🏼✌🏼
You’re an awesome teacher with tons of talent
Eric, could you please list your cymbals including hi-hat size & Meinel models
Thanks brother
Thanks Doug! ✌🏼👊🏼
Meinl Byzance:

16” dark crash
19” dual crash
20” dark ride
Also the stack are 2 sabian/zildian effects symbols
Great video! Easy to understand as a beginner. Are these beats played in 4/4?
In this first film, why not R hihat - L snare - R snare - L snare - R floortom? Instead of R hh - R sd - L sd - R sd - R ft?
As a guitar player I've always got behind the drums when possible. Finally bought a kit. These patterns are perfect for me. Sound good and are variable. Thanks!
You and Stephen The Non Glamorous Drummer are hands down my 2 favourite teachers. So easy to follow Eric. Thanks so much for helping me so much ❤️
I’m wondering if I can borrow some of these fills
Ive been eyeing that dual crash for almost 2 years. You think it would work in a loud live rock setting? I just love the sound of it but not sure if it'll cut through.
Yes you should, it’s an amazing crash. It still has a lot of volume, just lower frequencies that a bright cymbal.
Beginner videos are greatly appreciated, thank you for the very detailed lessons!
What hi hat cymbals are those? They are perfect!
what number stick are you using
Your way of instructing us your drumming lessons is so much easier then everybody else,,Thank you LAD♥️😁
