You have haunted me for almost 2 decades~ an ache, wondrous ideas, lust, loss, riffs that can strip a nun of her robe. The things, acts, sacrifices I've made whilst Interpol played in the background. Ooh the crimes! Also worked w Cyndi Wheeler as a teen in Ybor, besides seeing Interpol in concert twice, was so close, in spirit @ least.
I love how Interpol has this totally signature, identifiable sound, but with each album there's always a split in fan response. Some people like one group of songs, and the rest like the remainder in this really quite predictable way. I don't think I've ever encountered a fandom like this, it's like they're playing to two distinct audiences and still managing to please both. I'm always puzzled by the lukewarm response to what I think is their best work, like Gran Hotel, which is a piece I am entirely jealous of both in conception and execution. It's a near-perfect song and the language rides that beautiful blur between obscurity and confession; as a prose writer I throw my hat in the fucking dust and think, wish I had a fucking guitar making my shit sound that good lol.
I miss Carlos terribly but this is still hands down one of my favorite bands. The music made post Carlos is just as great as anything they ever made. Don't stop
I saw them last night at the Greek theater in LA, October 30, 2023 and they were phenomenal live. And I even heard some new songs I haven’t heard before. Love them.
This is the record I expected to come out after the Untitled record (which is highly underrated and fantastic). I also feel it is the best produced record since the first four. I love OTOSOMB, well done guys and best of luck on tour.
