When I first clicked on this, my thought was “ok, if the New isn’t on this list, then I obviously can’t trust this person” 😂 I’ve been a guitarist since the early ‘90s and only picked up the bass in a serious sense around 2007...and had I not started, I never would’ve guessed I’d love playing bass so much more than I do guitar. I only picked it up because I wanted to join this Motown/‘60s and ‘70s R&B type party band and that’s what they needed. Anyway, as a warmup and during downtimes, I would play ‘the New’ or something like Green Day’s ‘Longview’. I started listening to Interpol in 2003 and I still love Turn On the Bright Lights just as much as the day I bought it.
I'm glad you were pleasantly surprised by the end then, haha! Turn on the Bright Lights has been a stable for me ever since i was introduced to Interpol, and Carlos' playing has always been such an inspiration for me. I'm glad you picked up the bass, sounds like it has meant a lot to you since you did!
Barricade is one of my all time favorites especially in the chorus. i love all of Carlos D's work but i think my favorite era of his playing is definitely TOTBL . Fantastic work!

I think you'll like Paul Raven's bass era in 80's Killing Joke. Cheers for this great video! Carlos was the best thing about Interpol. Without his melodic & funky playing, they'd be a pretty boring next gen new-wave rock band.

well as a bassplayer myself, Interpol bass line is pretty unique. Even the guitar chords is not casual powerchords like many rock bands do.
