Why do you think so many people hate the 589. I started driving in 1970. We bought 359. Little windows. No room. No power steering. No air conditioning. No heat. The list goes on and on. We Got a 75 and 76 359. 1693s. Heat and air. Still no power steering. Had 77s. 78s and 79s. Finally got all the goodies. Got one of the first 379s. 87 model built in Nashville. My Friends bought 389s. Not much difference. Now you have the 589. Lots of room. Great visibility. A tighter cab. Nice and quiet. From 1970 till now. These newbies should be really glad what peterbilt has turned into. These new guys more than likely would never even drove across the street. Not alone driven across country in those old trucks.
@charlesferebee263 and you were never a truck driver, because up till 2023 the 389 was still a eye opening truck that never had the issue u mentioned. Now, this 589 is pure garbage for the newbies, but then again, maybe they build it this way, so it's much easier for the newbies to drive it.

With 42 years, I've owned 7 brand new 379 and 389 peterbilts, and I'll say it again, They built the 589 for girls like you, with most of them having automatics and short hoods. They're truly garbage they look like classic Frightliners.
I like the color, its a nice truck if you ask me, the windshield and air breathers will take some getting used to. As we have seen already with other peoples 589 custom builds, a good Visor really makes the difference. I hear its a real smooth ride and all, real quiet as well... If I had one Id certainly look to make a few alterations!!

Out of my 40 plus years I've fought the mindset of change in practically every mode of transportation only to learn to take the best from the changes. Once you make it yours personally it becomes way more exceptable. I do think the implementation of advanced electronics and EPA standards is pushed out there sometimes ahead of its time. It can't meet the promised expected performance. But then, thats always the case when government is involved. For what it is, the pete looks better than id thought it would. The new KW's grow on you as well when, as always is the case, you have no choice because we don't have factories of our own now do we. Thanks for the update and hope we will be seeing more now. Them Pete's are trash anyway in my opinion when I'm looking at function. Yeah they look good all cleaned up with lights blah blah. I like the wider cab which was why I was a fan of Western Star. Pete, no button tuck leather, the dash stayed the same forever, no new sleeper designs. Took Pete forever just to put a TV mount in them. Who has big back TVs anymore.... I'm not paying a ton of money to just look cool. That's why I'll be getting rid of my 389 car hauler. I can go on and on...
When they add the visor it’ll look a lot better ,it is a shame about the gauges and worse in my opinion you can’t swap out the steering wheel easily because of all the controls on the wheel,it’s getting like a Tesla they’ll remove the stalks next
No they aren't the same headlights, the plugs are different so you can't use aftermarket lights, and putting the refrigerator on the floor was one of the dumbest things they ever did. Put the closet down there and put the refrigerator back up on top where it belongs
No. those are not very nice trucks. are you blind? Look at the top of the windshield how tall that roof is and look at the mirrors how low they look. They just trashed the look of those trucks using the 579 cab...
I agree that the view out the windshield is a little different. I do like the 589 outside and mist of the Interior, but that dash is flugy. It looks like a Freightliner and a International . JUNK DASH

It looks like crap and the dashboard is crapola as well, NO lights along the air breathers, no visor, the windshield has no split , it stupid looking, you might as well remove the dual stacks, how stupid,,, Bring back the 389 with all the gauges and trailer brake, which belongs on the steering colum, which is much safer to control when applying the trailer brakes, not a stupid switch on the dashboard, your saying you can get a truck within 6 weeks, from the factory,,, I Wonder Why,, might as well buy a classic Frightliner ,,Many that are posting here saying it's beautiful, don't know what a truck should look like.

Possibly learn more about what your advertising and trying to sell before ya broadcast it to the world. Let me correct you on at least 1 thing.. the running lights up front on fenders. They are not turn signals just running lights.

That is a bummer. PACCAR send KW's to AUS and keeps the Peterbilts in the US. Not sure why but that's what they do.

I like the passenger seat close to me when driving, i drove trucks with lots of room between seats, didnt like it. I like the 379 389 or W900

You still can. I can reach stuff in a 579 just fine. It's wider than a 389 but not as wide as a 587.

I agree, the dash definitely isn't Pete's best. KW did a much better job with the T680/880/W990 dash layout.
