I like both the new and old truck videos ! Sounds like a perfect combination to me! Take care , best wishes to you all always, and keep up the great work!
Thanks Mike. I have been in the trucking and lifting industry since I was 17. That was in the 80’s. I learned a lot today. Keep on making these videos. This is very informative. Love the other videos too. Happy holidays!!
Him explaining that stability control is exactly why I don't like driving newer trucks. I was taught to have control of my own truck. I don't think that any of those driver assist sensors should have ever been added to a big truck. I refuse to even drive automatic trucks, especially in snow and ice. If I break traction at 45 MPH, I want to know that I have a clutch that I can disengage to help straighten me back out. I don't trust computers to keep me safe on the big road or any road for that matter! I drove an automatic thru ice one time, and it was the scariest day of my life. The only thing you can do that's similar to disengaging the clutch, which stops the power to the wheels, is put her in neutral. But, who wants to do that, and how do you even know it will allow it, or go back into gear once you have regained control again? Imagine having proximity senors and someone cuts you off while on ice, and the truck slams on brakes? That's a scary situation, which is why big trucks shouldn't have driver assist sensors. So, I say, "Make older trucks great again!"
Mike keep up the good content! I truck for a living and I like the new trucks. It’s impressive to see you show a truck plus to edit your videos. This is allot of work to keep them interesting.
Mike The Truck Nut, I appreciate your talks, for example, in this video. This video proves that you are quite knowledgeable about what earns you the check from Peterbilt. They are lucky to have you as an employee. Thank you, Mike from SoCal
Great tour and explanation of the 589. Even though I'm not in the transportation industry, I find trucks, both old and new, to be fascinating. Oh, I watched to the end of the video. Hmmmmmmm... changes coming... hmmmmm.
I enjoy the new truck content it’s interesting how the trucks are different up north compared to my neck of the woods in east Texas different regulations and climate and terrain I enjoy both the new and old trucks
Both. As a European i like to see how the US truck works and develops. It's just something different from what we have here. Restoration is restoration. Is interesting to what no matter what or where it is.
Keep doing the new truck stuff in addition, you almost make me want to move so you can order a truck for me (wishful thinking I could afford one). Keep doing you!
Hi Mike from Yorkshire England please can you get the interior in smokey can't wait to see what smokey looks like with the interior in love your content
That’s a pretty truck, the way you did the paint on the bottom definitely sets it off nice. In Maine the guys that went tri-drive didn’t get another one after trying it. Not sure why
New trks . And the custum as we say down south work on the trucks in the shop. Winch / log trucks. And that cool you being to help out on ordering a trk .
I don't mind the one piece windshield on the 589. I just don't like how tall it is. The cab (windshield, doors) are all taken from the Aero trucks like the 569 or 579 (one of them) so they can cut costs on the 589 and share an assembly line whereas the 389 had It's own assembly line.
Mike i enjoy your channel especially when your dad is in it . I drive a kw 990 i no all about the hoods there heavy plus i have the big moose bumper i haul coast to coast and new Mexico plus i go into Canada someyimes..the boss wants to get me one of these Pete's i don't want it i have the 605 Cummins 18 speed 521 thousand miles 3 1/2 years. I'd like to meet you and your dad i have met so many people that do trucking video's. Keep up the great work on your channel thank you
It sucks that Peterbilt changed the dash to where you can't get a full gauge package of 23 gauges max! Nobody wants a digital dash. It's not a car it's a big truck! I'll choose gauges over digital any day. I like the cockpit feel!
Good morning Mike, and YES I stayed to the end😁couple of questions, does the truck have disk brakes? and why isn't the front axle a drop axle? also have you considered a Sequioa paint job? Anyway your trucks are light years ahead from what I drove T-800's but we had that traction control, go up a washboard hill on the throttle and all of a sudden you come to a dead stop, nope you lost traction, were gonna stop.😋Yep keep the new truck stuff coming, really enjoy them, and Kenworth is going all automatic...except.. the W900's. Ok have a Great Day see ya next video.
Mike, have you seen Bruce Wilson’s Scania videos? Pretty impressive truck…going through the complete factory build and drive to it finally arriving in the U.S. Quite the difference compared to a North American truck for sure.
From a guy who's driven many long-hood Peterbilts, I actually would like to know what took Peterbilt so long to add a side signal light toward the front? If you don't have signals attached to your mirrors, it's very hard to switch lanes in a Pete long-hood bcuz the signal on the side of the headlight it hiding behind the fender and cars driving next to you can't see it unless it's dark out side. I love how Kenworth just put it on the fender to make it all simple! I will say that they could have put that light in a better spot, maybe, lol! But, hey, I'd rather have it than not!
I see you have about the same attitude to Paccar Eng grp as the KW side does, fortunately, we can blame the Pete grp for that cab design, because it's all done on Pete origin drawings. Most things other than dash structure and hood are interchangeable. I retired after 40 yrs at KW in 2020, so seeing the blurb about the air/elec switch conversions was interesting, makes sense to me, hadn't got into doing that at that time, yet. Been watching the oilpatch guys, they chain frt axle first on tridrives, second set goes to ctr axle.
I like the new trucks. Acceptance of innovation breeds better ongoing technology. I don't know why someone couldn't just plug a laptop into their truck and adjust which gauges it displays, and how big, and what font and everything. It'd be so simple. Even if the program made certain requirements, it'd be cool.
Hey Mike! How's it going? Looks cold up there, not that we haven't had any cold, but there has been no snow. Are you aware that around 1:43 you called that 589 a 389? No one in the comments mentioned it either. If I can say it, I think I like Peterbilt Mike a little better than Mike the Truck Nut. Not that there is really anything wrong with him, but after watching this video, I think Peterbilt Mike is more down to earth and grounded than Mike the Truck Nut. Mike the Truck Nut can be, well, a little "Nutty" sometimes. Sorry.
I don't like cliff hangers. Now I gotta wonder for a week or two what changes are coming 🙁 I like the old truck content because I'm old, but I do like the new truck stuff too... Trying to force automatic transmissions is absurd. It sounds like the powers that be in Canada think the same way that California's Governor does. Complete idiocy... I'm starting to get used to the 589's, but will always prefer the 379's. It sounds like they have some bugs that need to be worked out. The electronic dash / gauge cluster is a perfect solution to a problem that never existed. Analog gauges worked just fine for many years and I would prefer to have the dash filled with old school gauges but those days are gone... I am glad to see it actually has true dual exhaust. Having one active exhaust and one dummy exhaust was truly about the dumbest thing I've ever seen. It would really look stupid in cold weather having steam coming out of one stack, and nothing coming out of the other. I want everything to go back to the way they were in the 60's and 70's...
I now know for sure International looks more like a real Peterbilt than the Paccar junk these days. The HX520 has a great design with a beautiful sleeper. Paccar.... Has MX13 Bye Paccar hello International.
Might be a great idea. This idiot they got up here is filling the country up with hate full immigrants. And on top of that. I like president trump. Then deport deport deport. God bless the USA.
I think it would be a good thing. This idiot in Canada. Is filling the country with immigrants that hate the country. And take are guns. President trump all the way.
Mark my words. It’s won’t be long before someone like Toyota or someone starts building trucks for us because these fools clearly don’t give two fucks about what we want anymore

Appreciate the kind words Mike.
I like both! All trucks are cool!!!
I enjoy seeing what's new too. A little change from the restoration. Like to see the way trucks are outfitted in your area.
Great tour and explanation of the 589. Even though I'm not in the transportation industry, I find trucks, both old and new, to be fascinating.
Oh, I watched to the end of the video. Hmmmmmmm... changes coming... hmmmmm.
Combination of old and new trucks is good. I like the contrast.
Hey Mike love your new truck content cheers David. 0:30
I enjoy the new truck content it’s interesting how the trucks are different up north compared to my neck of the woods in east Texas different regulations and climate and terrain I enjoy both the new and old trucks
I enjoy both your videos
Hi mike you and your family have a great Xmas and new year
Merry Christmas to you and your family Mike.
Merry Christmas 🎅
Beautiful truck you spec those out very nicely.
I like both formats.
Pete dropped the ball with this 589
Looks insane nice. Regards from Norway
I like watching your videos, specially when your Dad is around.
Yeah he's a great guy.
Love the paint combo and the red on the bottom of the door makes the cream color stand out
Both. As a European i like to see how the US truck works and develops. It's just something different from what we have here. Restoration is restoration. Is interesting to what no matter what or where it is.
Great video Mike really enjoy your videos. Always enjoy the new truck videos. Thanks for sharing stay safe Mike.
I like the dual content. Love the old school two tone cream and combo
Always love the new videos!
I've missed seeing the new trucks 👍 I really like that digital dash.
I like watching both Mike🎉🎉
Learn something new 😮 beautiful truck 🚚
Nice truck, Mike.
I've missed this content!
Now that's a nice truck!
Love the new truck stuff!
Like this type of video. Thanks Mike.
Keep doing the new truck stuff in addition, you almost make me want to move so you can order a truck for me (wishful thinking I could afford one). Keep doing you!
Working on a way to sell in the USA 🇺🇸 stay tuned...
Hi Mike from Yorkshire England please can you get the interior in smokey can't wait to see what smokey looks like with the interior in love your content
10 4 been waiting for more screws but might have to just use some old ones temporarily
Swap out the hose clamps on the power steering res to pump hose at the reservoir. It is a leak point when the ambient temps go down.
Always will be Peterbilt Mike...
Hi Mick as I'm watching your videos from Ireland I enjoy all your content as we don't have the big bull nose trucks here.
Thanks 👍
That’s a pretty truck, the way you did the paint on the bottom definitely sets it off nice. In Maine the guys that went tri-drive didn’t get another one after trying it. Not sure why

The new productivity 605hp gets better fuel economy. Something to consider...
Looks good
That thing is a Beast, someone is going to get a new Peterbilt for Christmas 🎄
It’s not a Scania .
All trucks matter ❤.
I love old and new trucks 🎉
It sucks that Peterbilt changed the dash to where you can't get a full gauge package of 23 gauges max! Nobody wants a digital dash. It's not a car it's a big truck! I'll choose gauges over digital any day. I like the cockpit feel!
I love how he shows himself the whole time and not the yruck
😮yeah people who design the equipment never have driven a truck in different weather and road conditions.
Transmission went what? 😂🤣😂
Good looking truck love the classic look. i prefer the old truck new ones got to many sensors that go wrong and gets you in a bad spot or worse.
between the air intake piping and steering shaft that Davco on ease of access is about a 4 out of 10
Good morning Mike, and YES I stayed to the end😁couple of questions, does the truck have disk brakes? and why isn't the front axle a drop axle? also have you considered a Sequioa paint job? No disc brakes on this one. Drop axles aren't legal here in BC
On that two valve new Way, why don’t they put it in one gauge with two needles?
That would be nice.
Mike, have you seen Bruce Wilson’s Scania videos? Pretty impressive truck…going through the complete factory build and drive to it finally arriving in the U.S.
Quite the difference compared to a North American truck for sure.
Yeah it's impressive and so different from north American trucks. I look forward to seeing how it stands up

I've done some with dual rounds and then put a round fender light on. Gives it a 359 look and is very functional
Please do that video of the explanation of the new regulation please 🙏 great video by the way

That's the right way to chain up.
Mike's dream rig he'll never be able to afford lol 😆 !!
And neither will you
ordered but cant sell
I think they look really cool
I like the new trucks. Acceptance of innovation breeds better ongoing technology. I don't know why someone couldn't just plug a laptop into their truck and adjust which gauges it displays, and how big, and what font and everything. It'd be so simple. Window chops and visor
Canadian National Railroad, was idling
With no DPF or DEF either tpumphave diffrent rules I guess....
Thanks for the video Mike. Just curious what this spec would price out at in US dollars for a tandem axle with a 36 inch sleeper?
I'll see if I can get you a price is USD

You are 100% correct. I really appreciate the feedback.
The transmission didn't have a brain fart. The engineers did.
Mike love videos I rather watch old trucks with your father and your wife
He said ahort hood 389
The bolts on the v bar come loose all the time also 🤦♂️
Could you pull the gages and put the two leveling gages side by side?
Yep, I have put teltec air weigh guages in there
She's a beauty though...😊
Sounds like up in your neck of the woods you need to be pretty rugged to be a trucker up there..
Yes sir, can't be afraid of cold weather and throwing chains
I don't like cliff hangers. Now I gotta wonder for a week or two what changes are coming 🙁

i guess if selling trucks is putting food on your table and paying for your hobbies your not going to disrespect the brand.
Definitely not and I respect all brands because i will have to sell them when i take them on trade. They all have their place.
I now know for sure International looks more like a real Peterbilt than the Paccar junk these days.
The HX520 has a great design with a beautiful sleeper.
Paccar.... Has MX13 Bye Paccar hello International.
Flip-flop control
You're moving?
Nice truck Mike. What are your thoughts if Canada was to become a part of the United States?
Might be a great idea. This idiot they got up here is filling the country up with hate full immigrants. And on top of that. I like president trump. Then deport deport deport. God bless the USA.
I think it would be a good thing. This idiot in Canada. Is filling the country with immigrants that hate the country. And take are guns. President trump all the way.
How 359 going on Mike
Not great
It was Bush not Perot that said that
Ohh right
Well if you sold all of your project rigs.. you might be able to make a down payment on that new one lol 😆!
Mark my words. It’s won’t be long before someone like Toyota or someone starts building trucks for us because these fools clearly don’t give two fucks about what we want anymore
Like it
I rather see work continue on Smokey.
want
Question. I'm sure that there are some drivers out there who just love the new look and to be fair, there is an abundance of uglier trucks out there, but why would Peterbilt, paccar, or any other manufacturer, insist on changing the one thing that makes the company desirable?
The very thing that more than likely, built the company into what it is.
I have a few thoughts, but I would like to hear yours. I'm sure as a dealer, you've heard both the customer complaints and the manufacturer's insight. I'm curious to hear your thoughts about this new emerging market trend, where manufacturers shit on their customers. It's a widespread problem.
Wow, 13 years of driving trucks and I've never known that the power steering had a fucking filter, lmao! Who would have ever known? Ya, learn something new every day! I've never even seen a mechanic or a company change a power steering filter!
Apparently you never pop the hood, when you do your pre-trip!
Im old school 500 cat
The best part of these new trucks is spinning up 12% grades with traction control off but having the anti roll kick in kick the front brakes on and off slowing you down. You can’t disable or it voids warranty. These new trucks are a joke.
Doesn't look like she lacks for power either..
Sorry my friend but I would rather watch the project truck's but that might just be me I just prefer the old trucks
Personally I find it interesting learning about these new trucks over there. Don't get to many of them where I am
Go away
Mike is entertaining no matter what he does
Watch somebody else
@llen609 don't get me rong I like watching Mike but like I said I prefer the old project truck's I'm still going to watch no matter what he puts up that's just what I favor
Mike, this is my first time seeing your video. I found it informative. Thank you.
I like that tri-axle. I wished I had such a nice truck when I was logging. One of the old trucks I drove didn't even have a heater in it. But man, that ole' girl could get on down the road.
Why did you order a 589 Short-hood instead of the extended long-hood? That short-hood version is hideous, especially with that large windshield! Short-hoods are the worst of the long-hood family of trucks. The turning radius sucks on those things, at least on the older ones. The extended-hoods turn sharper and look better overall! I'd say that the 589 short-hood is the ugliest of all the short-hoods from the 359 to the 379 to the 389! I've driven both 379 and 389 short-hoods as well as the long-hoods, and I'd prefer the long-hood every single time, even while driving in the city. I live in Washington.D.C. where our roads and neighborhoods aren't built for trucks, and the long-hood still gets the job done on those tight turns, etc.! The short-hood makes the job harder!
Just for load space behind the cab
Power and control ruins everything!
Get over it
Quite pretty alright. I watch some of the news yet as our election took us a ways of exciting events. I heard Trump say to Trudeau that he better play nice or he would make canada the fifty first state and him a governor/LOL. Curious as to how you feel about being a part of the usa mess ups ?? Yep, old school mechanical, way better than computerized control. That computerized crap is ok for the megas. Who stay on the highway. Helps their inexperienced drivers. Yet can cause a bad situation to be even worse.
Old school driver, old school truck, best combination & safest. Why I do not have any of that computerized control crap on my W990.
His dig on the Kenworth 990 hood. LMFAO, thats what I have. I had to open the hood for the mechanic today. To replace fuel filters. All about technic, rather than strenth. Yet not opening it one handed standing like that!!! Need to go slow, one or two handed, use your body weight.
Cool to see someone who actually knows something. Most salesman know far less than they think they do.
Not a fan of digital dash. And certainly hate automatic. Windshield like a titan 90 Chevrolet. Just not a fan.
Make it a 389 and I'll watch the whole presentation.
Won't ever happen get lost
