On our company trucks, that engine shutdown has a temperature parameter that can be set as you wish as well. On ours, if outside temp on the gauge reads over 80 degrees or under 32, the truck will idle forever. In between we use espar heater or an EPU, with Cummins "autostart". You can also cheat it with a trailer, pull red valve so trailer brakes lock, leave yellow tractor brake knob pushed in. Truck will run indefinitely also.
They did A good job on the outside of this one The 589 has to be A flattop with A drop visor to look like A 389 the Midroof on A 589 looks horrible Midroof or flattop on 389 ok but flattop on 589 only Dash is horrible Hell no to the digital crap with 6 gauges??? need Some classy Wood or marble with A analog gauges at least 17-23
Let me see if I can get that for you. I just looked at the final build sheet and it says 2,471 lbs. and I know that's not right! Next time that truck is by the shop (local customer) I will get a photo of the stamped weight.
As a European trucker who works in the USA, I prefer them, still more room than Euro trucks inside, and if you're running flatbed trailers, better economy, though these old design Peterbilts aren't built for aero, too many things catching the wind, air filters, pipes, sun visor etc! All show!
people get so bent out of shape over a better windshield but ill tell u what!! that damn digital dash and junk...i meannnnn junk of a touch screen guage cluster thing thats running on 2007 ipod technology is terrible
Quality in Peterbilts have always been shocking, I did 4yrs Stateside with a company who ran 389's....I took the single Freightliner, as the 389's killed my back within 100 miles, clutch pedal went the wrong way too...very hard work those trucks, just watch any video of anyone driving one, your day does not have to be that hard! Looks like a vast improvement, but I'd prefer a analogue dashboard, less to go wrong...shame Caterpillar pulled out of truck motors,it was the best thing about the old Petes

I do like them as a flat top the new dash drives me nuts i got a kenworth the window i can live with more then the dash but over all nice truck I'd dive it
Bring back the flat glass classics! With a straight shifter!
Bring back horse and carriage! That real man use to have!
@ I would be alright with that too.
Honestly the nicest 589 I’ve ever seen.
I agree!
Just over a couple of months time 2026 model year will be rolling off the production line ,time sure is flying
Holy crap. A truck with fog lights like they all should be
Plum purple. Awesome looking truck. Well done keath
Dark Cherry is the color....I forgot to mention that!

Awesome looking truck Keith ...🙌
Drooled over it last night! Kinda shocked at the lack of attention to detail on the polished fenders same as tanks! Overall sharp truck
Just needs a drop axle, air horns, and marker lights - sides and filters. Everything else is perfect
Love The Legendary Dark Cherry Paint Scheme 💯👍
beautiful truck Schneider Trucking
Thank you!
I used that type of wet kit, for my old propane rig.
There a 2 piece window kit available already for these style cabs for Both K-DUBB & PETE.
That's good cuz that window looks like hot garbage.
Absolutely beautiful

Gorgeous Truck!
I'll take it!!! Beautiful truck.
I'd like to see a raised roof and stand up sleeper 589 with the roof fairing. They were options for the 389. Are they available for 589s??
Yes. They look great too. Coming soon!!!!!
you maybe should put some decent mudflap hangers on it
Is a ‘wet kit’ the hydros for your tank pump. I’m assuming it’s a tanker for the need for a flat top.
Beautiful truck
Nice Color
The new ROOSTER CRUSIER
Can you do the heritage interior on the 589?
No. As of now, the Heritage package is not being offered from Peterbilt.
Mr Keith when will U order the 589 with the 4 square headlites from factory instead of those ALIEN HEADLITES
I was at the Peterbilt factory last week and saw those. They look great! As soon as I can order them I will!!!!
@@RockyMountainPeterbilts I have a few relatives that wrk there that's why I knew they were an option when the 589 was revealed

6 to 6.5 miles per gallon that equals 1.43 miles per liter.

Keith, can you tell me what that tractor weighs as it is, stamped weight, also can you tell me what a comparable spected 567 mid roof would weigh ?

Lol i guess my company didn't get the memo. Almost 200k miles and it still comes on.
Digital Dash with minimal gauges DEFINITELY is HORRIBLE 2 me!!!!!!! Needs more Real style gauges & toggles switches instead of rocker panels
Yes it is cheap!
I have a 2023 t680 and just on the cruise control bump up the it up to 700 rpms and the idle shut down stays off
EPA has made us change that now.
Awesome 😎
Ohhhh man.. she is pretty 😍👍👍
Happy Friday

Next time how bout telling us what color it is since u forgot to@@RockyMountainPeterbilts

Can you get all that lane assistance and other safety stuff on the 589, Freightliner or Volvo has? What is Peterbilts called the Bendix
Yes. You don't have to have all that.
@@RockyMountainPeterbilts You may not have to have it, but it is coming. Insurance companies will force it
What made the EPA do that? What's the deal behind 3k miles?
Government...who knows.....
Both exhaust functional?
Yes 👍
@@RockyMountainPeterbilts nice 👌
Yes
That hood is a lot shorter than the 379s, and the 389, so how is that an extended hood
131" BBC same as previous 389's.
As a non trucker why do people chose a flat top with less room inside? Is it for looks? Fuel Milage?
Some people pull a flat so you don't need it to be tall. It could be for weight, some people just like it that way
That's a good question and it could be subjective to the individual, some people simply like the look.
Flat Tops have the classic look. They’re definitely my preference.

2 + ?
Can I get a 13 speed manual?
Yes. We still do those!
Put the horns where they belong ? On the roof 🇦🇺 🦘 🦐 👌🏻
Don't really like the digital Speedometer and tach old school gauges better
I agree with you.
I understand that the economy is really bad that they decided that a 579 make to a 589 with the hood of a real Peterbilt 379 & 389.
