hey Wiley you are the man i,m 70 and I like your videos with Jacob you never mess around Jacob is good with the saw, happy days with you both be safe drink lots of water bless you both.
Love your videos Wiley favorite part is figuring out where that is since I’m from the same area and going I saw Wiley crank that truck just the other day and had a good laugh about something or other
I like both but prefer Peterbilt Long Nose 379 389 Drove a Brand New Peterbilt 389 a Couple of years age it was a Beautiful Truck to Drive & to Look at
Thanks for the video Wiley. Was certainly interesting. You asked about the 900 kw’s. That would be my choice. Paint color is ok with me but do like two tone colors. This truck will make an excellent donor truck. That motor is just like new and sounded good and will be a good motor for that other truck you showed us. Thanks for the video and everything Wiley and Jacob. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Excellent video Wiley :) also surprises me is the Bend up Exhaust blue smoke out and shocking me ! Also like any of Highway Tractor Truck myself and seeing lots for years and yes if tune right they take off plus ride light Cadillac or Lincoln cars !
I remember when this truck got wreck I worked for Copart of Montgomery who got the truck after the wreck and I’m cool with the guys over at cp wrecker who work the wreck when it got in a accident it was a beautiful truck
Hey Wiley, Definitely a W900 guy but use to drive a ‘08 Pete 389!! I liked the sleeper set up in the W900 better as well as the hood design!! Don’t get me wrong, I definitely would take either one!!
I'd drive both. I think both are nice. I like old Macks too. That's a good running engine, hopefully it can be saved and put in another truck. And maybe salvage some other parts too. Thanks for sharing, Wily!
Wiley why did you change the batteries I saw you turned the key on and saw lights on the dash and you said they started it till it ran out of fuel from the filters
As much that has been spent on it and most of the damage is only sheet metal. As an old time mechanic, I'd start stripping the ugly off and start repairs. Heck, I've driven worse, with rental trucks that their shop put a bandaid on and sent out on the road. Sheet aluminum isn't that expensive and a good fabricator won't have a problem shaping it. Fuel tanks are plentiful and same on stacks. The biggie I see is the air cleaner. That too can be sourced from a good truck salvage yard. The big problem is the pride of owning a slightly wrinkled Pete, those guys are a bit too good to drive anything that looks less than perfect. I drove a new one back in the early 2000s, That crowd are a bit out there, compared to the regular Freightliner guys.🧐
Hey, they probably pumped all the oil out of the pan though the dipstick tube, like taking a sample.... similar to the fuel tanks, then, in the roadside chaos the dipstick realized it was free and unscathed after that mele / crime against metal and high tailed it back to Texas!....LMAO. Great content, keep up the great work!
389 pet wily pretty trucks the kw is a beautiful beautiful truck as well 👍 good to see you are doing good wily keep on keeping on and thanks for the amazing videos
Nice truck. I hope the drive is okay. But when I saw the mileage on that truck in the year on that truck. Next got me to thinking something's amiss. Or maybe I'm just thinking too much. I bought my truck new about the same year that that truck was brand new and when I sold my truck this past March it had $947,000 Mi on it. In this economy some people will do anything to get out from under a high-dollar vehicle with no money coming in from lower Freight rates high cost of fuel and everything else. Interesting that the warranty runs out on most trucks right around 500,000 miles
So they purchased this for the motor ??? I'm sorry gramps but 50K is a bit high ...Now had you said 20K then yes because a New Turbo & intake with all hardware & gaskets runs around a bully Dog is like 3000 grand but you can spend upwards of 5gs on just the turbo & intake & hardware new Vband clamps
Well considering that drivers only buy that truck because of the hood Peterbilt knows that so the hood probably cost more than the truck without the hood
I like both trucks but prefer W900 way more room in the cab than a Peterbilt. The Kenworth W900 I drive is a 1999 heavy spec 18K front 46K rear with a Caterpillar 3406E @ 950 HP with a Eaton Fuller 18 speed. I pull a 1996 Aspen 75 ton 2+2+2 lowboy. I obviously do heavy haul mostly excavation and logging equipment.
I have a 99 W900 86” studio sleeper custom seats built for me. Have a 1MM 600 Cat set at 650 just put the new model performance head put on bigger valves and bigger ports more nickel to prevent cracking.
Hope the dipstick was close enough, hate to hurt that motor!! Back in WWII the Germans forced Citroen to build trucks in France. They didn't like that very much, so they sabotaged them by making the dipsticks too long. This caused the engines to be running low on oil always and failing much earlier than the Germans wished!!
@@DontbeWilyI just found this channel by accident and the this topic is something that I am currently dealing with, I have a 2008 389 extended hood, isx cummings 485hp great running truck but unfortunately I live and work in California and because it's has a older engine it won't pass California emissions so I'm gonna be looking for a donor truck with a 2011 or newer engine so I'm very interested in the outcome of this video/topic being that we're both looking to swap engines, I talked to some shops here in California and most won't go near it because of possible complications, claiming that it would be a nightmare snd that I'd be better off just selling the and buying a another used truck that has a compliant engine already in it, the engine that's in the truck has 450k on it ,I've talked to mechanics who said the cost could be as high as 70,000 to 80,000k l asked them when was the last time they were tested for drugs... so if you could kinda keep me informed of the process/or progress on this build I'd greatly appreciate it thanks again God bless you 🙏

2014 model 389 with a Cat would be a "glider " .Trucks not that far gone so if it has no frame damage it's definitely worth putting back to gather .

It had enough fire in batteries that were in it to power up dash. Would not spin it over.

$19000
Wow. Thats just wow
That look like Doodle Blizzards old truck hooked to the hopper!
I think your right
New hood
Hoods run about 10k-15k at least for a new 379 hood. 389 prolly not gonna be much cheaper. Used isnt much cheaper
Wow. Thanks for sharing
I would be leery of an engine running on its side . Afraid it had no oil pickup, but then I'm a worry wort.
Thanks for sharing. I understand the concern for that
What Cat engine is that?
I am not sure. C15. I believe
Is there more room in a 389 than a W900?
That i don’t know

Absolutely not w900 has four times the room
I wonder if the guy that wrecked that truck still works there.
I am not sure
