It has been far too long but I am alive and well! I made it up to Maine in the Hatteras (Vid Coming Very Soon). I have spent the summer working around the clock up here in Maine at a marina, totally slammed with very little time to edit videos. The boat is torn apart right now for repairs and upgrades of all sorts. Plans for a big trip this winter if I can get the boat back together in time. I will have the Miami to Maine trip video posted really soon and its a good one! Thank you for checking in.
Pretty soon I will have much more time to edit vids!

There will be problems related to what you've decided to do by getting the boat. When they happen, I hope this helps. I am 65 years old and wish I had the balls to do what you are doing when I was your age. After a lifetime of working to benefit others, I struggle to afford a boat and can't afford the gas to drive it. The rat race sucks, you aren't missing out on anything. Whatever imagined benefits a life of work claimed to offer, were not worth it. Enjoy your life while you can because you'll be 65 before you know what hit you.

Great idea adding the underwater vid work on the stub shaft and prop. Excellent work on the camera. Maybe remind your viewers of the kind of $$ you saved taking off that shaft & prop yourself, sending them out, etc. Versus taking the craft into a boatyard and having it done. Admire what you're doing. I had a 38 Hatteras in my younger days. Yep - the old 2 stroke single diesel. You are sooooo fortunate to have found yours already retrofitted with modern engines!

I’ve binge watched several of your videos this morning and think you’re the bomb! I come from Bath Maine. Between my father, grandfather and I, we have over 100 years of ship building. I started as a ship fitter in 1986 and went to college in 1991 when my father died and used my inheritance to Pursue industrial technology. Returned as a 3D CAD designer to Bath Iron Works in 1992 working nights and going to college days while living in a fraternity…to much fun. After 7 years, I interviewed with Boing when they came to town to steal designers. Out of 65 applicants, I was the only one to get hired. Loved Seattle. BIW wanted me back a year later and to make a long story short. I became a principal Project Manager and was responsible for the systems and processes for Engineering and Design used on the DDG 1000. You kick ass dude. Love your free spirit and drive!!

Just a note for your oil change. That reverso system that sucks out the old oil is the same way you fill the engine as well, just run the pump in the other direction with the hose in your new bucket of oil. People get hung up with the bit of old oil that goes back into the engine but honestly its a few ml that flushes back in and is the way the system is designed to work.... saves you from holding that barrel over the engine trying not to spill it.
    Good work on the restoration.

I must say that your work under water was most impressive. I've done some but to a lesser degree, and it is not easy. Not many people would have attempted that, you are both brave and skilled! (But you know that). Your boat is gradually coming back to full life, it is all those small things like the pipe ferrules, swaging and corrosion that need every bit of attention you can give them. One day you will finish and have virtually a new boat, I know you can do it!! Good luck fella and take care!!

I can't even begin to imagine how you do all that work under the boat in the water. I drop tools and small things and lose them in the engine bay of my cars!

I can’t believe that you have a sewage system that’s very similar to the ones onboard US Navy ships…. I was in charge of the CHT system on my last ship I was on when I was the Navy. CHT stands for Collecting Holding and Transfer of the sewage on board and we all called it the “shit system “ Damn that brings back memories! You impress me on every new video I watch. I’m very envious of you and your boat . By the way I just retired from turning wrenches after 40 years and wish I could join you. Keep up the good work and try to turn more vids …. I’d like you to get more subscribers so your vids git more views!

Love it. All the technical repair work and fixes are gold in my book.
Kinda crazy how you did all the prop/shaft work underwater. I suppose that's more normal for mechanics to do when the water has better visibility.
That ratchet must need alot of TLC when you're done 😅

I really love keeping up with you on your adventures, you are a pretty smart guy, love watching you work on your boat and seeing all the improvements that you do to make the boat more enjoyable to maneuver. Always looking for the next video, i am working on a 1986 Sea Ray 300 Weekender and trying to get everything better than the factory had it during those years, making her better than new!!! Looking forward to your next video, great Job!!!

My man! Awesome video of maintenance and hard work, love it and your willingness to do all the work with research I’m sure your doing. You are going to know that boat inside and out. Add some friends and partying which is required! I really love your videos and editing. Great work. And like some others said, let’s get you a sponsor (in vid ads?) so you can post and travel more. Not sure how you do that but based on your mechanical skills I’m sure you will figure that out. Keeping going Gus!

I love watching Gus. Makes me tired just watching. I think he can fix anything. I used to have that much energy, but 73 years takes it's toll.
