It was September of 1990. A car load of us went to a country park outside Glasgow to an event called 'Slam In The Park'. Jon Da Silva from the Hacienda, Alex Paterson from The Orb, the Slam boys and 808 State. Changed our lives forever. 30 years have passed but my love for House music has never waivered. This song is absurd, especially when you find out it's from the 80's, due to the level of synthesizers and mixes used. This is explicit in the part from 3:05 to 3:29, in the highlight in the last three seconds of this part that the effect of the music in reverse fits perfectly.
1989,22 years old and the world at my feet,a world we were going to change.51 now and the world has changed for the worse and is on my shoulders. The only remedy is to skin up and listen to the likes of this...
1989 to us was like 1969 to the hippies.. we reached a cultural peak and the powers didn't like it. By the mid 90s Draconian laws were passed that effectively made it ILLEGAL for a movement like this to happen again, notably the Criminal Justice Bill, after this you couldn't play music loud in public.
I moved to London in 1989 aged 24 , I spent many a night dancing to this track in Heaven and the Fridge in Brixton and many more places , I also booked them when I ran Dogstar in Brixton in 2001 , great memories.
Soooo many good memories when I hear this tune....long,hot,sweaty ,sexy nights....pure ecstacy!!!! I am old enough to have been around for the originalxxxx
Heard this tune for the first time in a bus when i was about 11 years old heading home from amusement park back in summer 1995, it was such a cool feeling hearing a beat with nature sounds and that base in the backround while just looking out the window passing through central Gothenburg,Sweden.
I remember first hearing this on a dance chart run down i'd taped straight off Capital Radio, number two was Back to Life then the DJ said 'and still at one, Pacific State by 808 State..' Happy days.

As we speak.....heading into my 52nd year (5th decade) of my life i find myself seeking the music of my past. All i can say is...us Gen X'rs were so lucky and spoilt rotten with the music.
Bless the 80s and the 90s
Dude the ending brung up natural tears, ambient house is truly a gem
What beautiful sound from the minute it was released. Tottally timeless. Its still as good as the first time I heard it.

Bastards got us
Amen to that..world's full of wallflowers, kids having kids with no teachings of manners, empathy.. We're going backwards ☹️

Heaven.....now THAT was a nightclub. Went there twice on a trip to London and still consider both times the highlight of my visit.

Soooo many good memories when I hear this tune....long,hot,sweaty ,sexy nights....pure ecstacy!!!! I am old enough to have been around for the originalxxxx
Use to do my homework to this in the 9th grade. I'm now 44, still sends back to those great times.
Heard this tune for the first time in a bus when i was about 11 years old heading home from amusement park back in summer 1995, it was such a cool feeling hearing a beat with nature sounds and that base in the backround while just looking out the window passing through central Gothenburg,Sweden.
These guys really raised the bar in '89. What a classic tune!
Heard this watching a bbc2 documentary about the Manchester music scene. They were appearing on Top of the pops! Superb!!
I remember first hearing this on a dance chart run down i'd taped straight off Capital Radio, number two was Back to Life then the DJ said 'and still at one, Pacific State by 808 State..' Happy days.
Holy crap! This is absolutely effing mint! That sax bro! Just listening to this on loop makes my day.
best UK house tune of all?
Damn yeah! Takes me back to my halcyon daze every time I hear it........ summarised an incredible 89. Those boys are legends!
A Guy Called Gerald ( Gerald Simpson) is mainly responsible for this timeless classic.
Also the equally seminal Voodoo Ray
Rip Andy barker ❤️ Thanks for the memories ❤️🕺🏽
Remember always listening to this on my Sony Walkman back in the days. Soooogood.
Nice one Johnny....last heard this a few years back at Joshua Brooks in Manchester...all the old heads getting together...will always be a very special choon ......good times
Camp Hanson Okinawa Japan 1989 bought this CD at the PX not knowing the group just wanted to listen to something new. Boy did it change my taste in music. Thank you!
Can I just say, everyone is here saying that 'I remember the old days' but I'm 13 as of writing this and it is one of the best songs ever made
Good taste
One day, these will be your old days.
Good taste man (from a guy who drive a miata)
Keep on the good job boy, you are on the right path ❤️
You have impeccable taste .
I love this tune... haven’t heard it in years! I miss those rave days! One minute you’re a teenager and early 20’s... and life’s one big adventure and party! Next minute you look you’re in your 40’s and 50’s and still pretending to be 16! 😊😔❤️💕💞🌈✝️🙏🌸😂
its ok i still have the mental age of a teenager, i fell down the stairs and smacked my head
I think of that with jungle and drum and bass tunes. Not really into today's genre of futuristic music, like why
don t worry...you re not alone! i m 44 almost 45...and there ain't no regrets to have been a teenager during the 90's...feel so proud
C'mon Mate, you're making depressed. Life is life FFS.

Takes me back to when I was 18. 49 now and still great to hear this beauty. No other house track sounds anything like this one, unique.
