Dan, good interview. I'm also not a fan of the clickbait titles, but if your data supports clickbait bringing you more views, I won't castigate you further, especially when the interviews with companies like nemo and sawyer are solid. Keep up the good work.

@suewheeler5795 just as @vzmichael put it. Spot on! Too many people have to have all kinds of unnecessary materialistic belongings, but in the end, when they ultimately die, they won't be able to take it with them.
One may argue that it can be passed down to the next generation, but I don't see that as a good thing either. If my parents were in a position like the owner of Sawyer, instead of setting up a trust fund for me to be lazy and not earn my own money, I'd rather see them doing great things like Sawyer is doing. We all can make a difference in varied areas. Glad to see that Sawyer is and has been a caring life partner for the world. Mission trips are one of the most satisfying things in this world to do. I have been on 4 , my youngest son has been on 7 mission trips. In Panama we built 2 10,000 liter tanks so they can collect water in rainy season to get through dry season. We set up system so first part of rainfall gets wasted and then collect cleaner water. Not the same thing Sawyer does but I love Sawyer products and use them often. I also have Sawyer water filters in the car, backpacks and go bags. Thank you Sawyer for your kindness. Thank you Dan. Couple the Squeeze with a Cnoc 2 liter dirty water bag and let gravity do the rest. Back flush the filter when needed. How simple can it get? Keep the wet filter from freezing and you're good to go. Thank you Dan.

I had my own advanced testing supplies to detect bacteria in water so I tested the Sawyer filter,, Micropur tablets, and Potable Aqua tablets. I ran the tests four or five times over a period of a week. According to my results, nothing eliminated the bacteria 100% but the Sawyer filter eliminated the bacteria much better than the tablets. I'm not a trained lab technician and my background isn't science so I'd like to see some professional comparisons done, but I will share with you that my amateur testing indicated that Sawyer is significantly more effective in eliminating bacteria.

Only found your channel today…been looking at water filters! Super informative, gives me a good reason to go Sawyer?…and probably most importantly, has given me food for thought on my current relationship with God and makes me question some of my decisions in terms of good works or self satisfying good times! Thank you on both levels ❤

Good interview. I use Sawyer filters but I have to replace them at the start of each hiking system, I back-flush filter after each hike but when I leave the used filter inactive for 6+ months, the filter no longer works, horrible things grow in dark & wet places and it gets clogged just sitting there inactive, so I just buy a new one each year, no problem, they are cheap. I also bring a 35ml dropper bottle filled with regular Clorox and add 2 drops per quart to filtered water, 30 minutes, to make sure everything is dead.

Wow! I have the original extractor kit in my backpack. I bought it decades ago. Thankfully, I never had to use it. I have the Mini, the Squeeze and the Home Filter. I just bought the Permethrin spray kit and the hard sports bottle with the internal mini filter yesterday. I'm a bikepacker and backpacker.

Hey, I’m glad for this part of the story too. There’s another RUclipsr who went on a “company trip” and did a video, that I’ve seen. But that one - a year and more ago - didn’t have this part of the “Bucket Ministry” story in it. I had no clue about the technology or how they are expanding their charity. It’s going to be my pleasure to start yacking about this…thanks for the vid, Dan!! ❤

When I first got into backcountry travel everyone was using Sawyer products. I saw lots of clogging issues on the trail. I did my research and bought a Steripen. The Steripen has never let me down. Over the years I have had to let others use it on the trail because their water filter clogged or wasn't working. Over the years water filtration has changed. It amazing to see what it has become. I know carry both my Steripen and filters that fit on my soft flasks. The ease of dipping into a creek to grab water and keep on going is great. The only downside of my Steripen is the time it takes to sanitize my water.

The Sawyer dries out without use and can get clogged without pre filtering. Both are fixable and preventable.

My first and only subsequent water filters have been Sawyers. Have added Wolverine Tuff brand bottles via an adapter kit cuz I don't like the Sawyer water bag, but the heart of my set up is Sawyer. Anyway, good stuff. Very cool and God bless!

Good interview. I used a Sawyer Squeeze for my AT thru-hike and it worked well. I started out with the mini but soon upgraded to the full size model because the mini took too long to filter. I've had one problem with the Sawyer Squeeze. After just a few uses, I let a Sawyer Squeeze sit for a year or so before using it again. I didn't test it before hitting the AZT, and discovered that it wouldn't work at all. I couldn't get any water through even after backflushing and letting it soak. Maybe calcium buildup? I don't know, I had to toss it. So test your filter before heading out.

I've seen people recommend soaking the filter in vinegar for 1/2 hour and then back flush it with clean water. Or soak overnight in vinegar and then back flush.
There was even one guy on RUclips who added a step where, iirc, he taps the filter or shakes it to dislodge any debris that might still be in there and flush some more.

So awesome, it’s amazing to see how God moves through different people on different paths. I started watching your channel about 2 years ago. I was researching for some camping/hunting gear. I just want to say it’s really cool to watch your channel evolve and grow in the direction you’re feeling led. It’s really encouraging to see other Christians making content that has a purpose and that I dont have to worry if my kiddos walk in the room. Thank you

I started backpacking a couple years ago with a buddy on a trip we call miles for missions. We get people to sponsor us, kind of like a walk-a-thon kids used to do, so we can send money to orphanage ministries in India. It is amazing how God can make things like that work out for his glory and lets us tag along for the ride. I started watching you and Eric over the past several months because I've been trying to upgrade my gear and learn some things for a trip we are taking to the collegiate loop this summer. I have really enjoyed your channel, but I'm even more encouraged to hear some of your story and your heart. By the way my family is planning to move to Wisconsin shortly after that hiking trip this summer.
