And thank you for sharing your faith too, it’s encouraging and refreshing to see someone being comfortable and confident enough to be able to stick their head above the parapet, risk trolls and abuse, and share who they are and why. Thank you and God bless you, Sawyer’s work and the Bucket Ministry.

I work for a water utility here in America. Most people don't know the amount of work that goes in to providing clean, healthy water. We are lucky to have a rich county that can provide for its citizens. It is great that we can provide for those less fortunate through a company like Sawyer. It looks like you were enriched by your travels and meeting new people. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I was so uninformed about the water situation in Kenya, and it’s shocking to think that in the USA, and many other places, we actually flush toilets and take showers with water that is completely safe to drink, and is almost always safe and available, even during many storms, power outages, etc. We truly have so much to be grateful for. Thank you, Dan, for being open to the experience of working with Sawyer and visiting Kenya.

Just so you know, I just purchased a new Sawyer to replace an older life straw system. What first caught me was the thumbnail. I was like "what the heck, did I buy the right one and should I have gotten the Katadyn?" "Are they misleading in their advertising?" and then I watched the video. Dude, it brought me to tears when you clarified who was getting blessed and especially when Evelyn said "You are like angels in my house this morning. May God Bless you for posting this video informing all of us how lucky we are and letting us know who Sawyer is and what they do. I bought the right one and will continue to support Sawyer.

Now let me tell you the truth about Sawyer Products. Kurt, the owner is one of those phony “Christians” who is an egomaniac and not honest about donating “90%” of his profits. Yes he donates filters and money to US BASED charities but because he set up his son in law (the one he dislikes) with a business that does GIS tracking, the filter donations are considered R&D and a tax write off. He also receives a tax credit for the donations since they are donated to US based charities. All this philanthropy yet no one at his plant in Safety Harbor FL has health insurance or any Benefits at all. Now to be fair he didn’t write the tax code and is playing by the rules but be assured he is making money by “donating profits”. The plant in FL is in total disrepair and antiquated. You’d be shocked if you saw where these products were being made and packaged. His employees that speak up about conditions are quickly let go. I’m not a disgruntled former employee, rather an insider with the family who knows exactly the kind of person the owner of this company is.

After watching this, I will gladly donate to their charity (I'm typically weary of charities in that I don't know how much donated money actually goes to the cause you're donating to) and purchase some more products. To see the direct results of what Sawyer and their partners are doing in Kenya is absolutely astounding.

I’m not sure why this video showed up in my feed but I own a pest control company that works for a company called “Sawyer” but I’ve only known about their mosquito repellent. I was curious if it was the same company so I watched the video.
It melted my heart. I had NO idea they did all this.
We originally started working at Kurt Avery’s home, I believe he’s the chairman. Over the years he has been incredibly kind and always wanting to share their permethrin with us.
Then we started working at Sawyer Products. Again, super kind people. Recently, a well know family of 5 owls were killed from rat poison being used in the park which the birds lived.
Sawyer as one of the few leading the charge to ensure the safest products were being used.
And when we told them we would like to experiment with a new, poison free maintenance trap (Good Nature Trap) they were all about it.
So, I can attest to the graciousness and humbleness of Sawyer Products.

When my sister-in-law went on a missionary trip to Burkina Faso, Africa, I sent her with her own personal Sawyer filter and 2 bucket filters to give away. She would fill a water bottle with water and screw the Sawyer filter on and drink. The people thought she was crazy until she gave them the bucket filter setups and they were so amazed that drinking water was actually clear. They had been drinking dirty water their whole lives and that’s all they knew. She taught them how to backflush the filters and how to use them properly. It’s been a couple of years so I hope they were able to get more filters for their village.

I think you just gave one of the best reasons possible for brand loyalty. And thank you for covering the water crisis in Africa; it's actually quite rampant all over the continent, and it's getting worse as the changing climate makes Africa's climate even harsher.
When I visited Africa, specifically Tanzania, I had the same experience with the locals as you; they were extremely friendly and hospitable.
One example -- our flight into Africa was delayed, and our group was further delayed due to some of our crew's baggage ending up on the NEXT flight into Dara es Salaam, so we ended up stuck at the airport for a few hours waiting for a resolution to that situation. Since it required waiting for the next flight, it took a while. After that we got into our shuttles to our hotel in Kilimanjaro, and due to the delays we missed dinner, and ended up reaching the hotel at nearly 2am local time.
Even so, the cooks got up and made us some fresh French fries with homemade ketchup.
Very friendly and very hospitable people.
BTW, you meant to say that you could NOT care less if you didn't make any money from this video. If you could care less, then it means you DO care about making money from this video.

Hey brother, I happened upon this video by "accident". Since I already have Sawyer filters for our emergency supplies, I wanted to see what you were talking about. SO glad I watched this video. I am a retired engineer who now volunteers at a ministry called Design Outreach. We are a bunch of engineers who have set out to make things like water wells sustainable through technology. The pump that you show in this video is an Afridev or India MkII style pump that is extremely flawed and you are correct, they do not last. We have developed a hand pump that draws water from much deeper and lasts for many years longer with no maintenance. But you are also correct in stating that they are expensive, so I love that these filters are filling the gap. Thank you for the video and may the Lord continue to bless you and yours. In His humble service - Jerry

I’m sitting here in tears, so thankful for you, Bucket Ministries, and Sawyer for being such lights in this world. ❤ I love backpacking, but I love Jesus more, and seeing his kingdom come to life in such practical ways. I will definitely support Sawyer’s products for the amazing mission and work they are doing. I’m really glad you brought awareness to the impact they’re having. Blessings!

My hats off to any company for doing thing such as this. We take our clean water for granted. Now here’s my vent. I’m just a nobody and sawyer is a big company. When researching water filters for hiking, I came across this video. As a result of hearing what Sawyer does, I chose their product over others. What a mistake that was. I had an issue with the product right out of the box and returned it to the store for a replacement. That one lasted 6 weeks of very light use before failing. To note: I followed instruction very carefully and know very well what finger tight means. I contacted sawyer with my issue and was asked to send photos and a copy of my receipt. The next day I get a reply. The letter said that warranty does not cover overtightening. In no way did I ever do this. There was not any mention of a Thankyou for choosing our product or sorry you are having issues. Just a statement that we triple test our filters and they are flawless, so it was your stupid self that broke it. Way to go customer service. While I support companies that help those in need, I will never again support a company that shows that level of disrespect to their customers. Without customers, there is no support for the other work they do. I’m a small business owner and if I treated customers that way, I would not have a business to own. But then again I’m just a small fry and sawyer is a much bigger entity.

I’ve known this about Sawyer for sometime. It’s one of the reasons that I have got one in every backpack and bug out bag (6 total) and 3 spares on my shelf in my prep storage room. Ive given away 3 as well. I also have stuff for distillation, purification tabs, and two pumps I use to use for backpacking. They’re a great product, although I do carry tabs in each of my packs, that have replaced all of my water purification methods. I also recommend them to everyone I teach survival methods to, as well as tell them how they’re helping situations like this by buying the product. Great video. I was really hoping it was going to be positive, as it was one of the main reasons I switched over to their product and have recommended it to A LOT of other people.

Thanks for getting this word out, Dan. I've been a Sawyer fan since doing some work for the US Embassies in Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Nigeria. We used their insect repellents (lotion and permetherine treatments) and in several months total time spent there, during mosquito season, I never once even got bit. It wasn't until several years later I learned about how much they do, but I learned even more in this video.
Also, I'll say to fairly compare a Sawyer to a BeFree, you need to filter a few hundred liters first. The Sawyer will keep flowing, but the BeFree steadily loses flow rate until it's basically the same as the Sawyer. And all the while, the BeFree has a wider aperture, meaning it's a less effective filter.

I think it's great and all that 3rd World countries are getting Sawyer's good quality filters, BUT WHY DID Sawyer REMOVE THEM FROM CUSTOMERS IN DEVELOPED COUNTRIES LIKE THE USA? WHY ARE WE NOT ALLOWED TO BUY THE .002 FILTER, TOO? I've wanted to buy one for over 4 YEARS now and Sawyer won't sell them to anyone other than NGO type organizations. The ".Zero Zero Two" filter is the one I need and want to buy from them. I know there are other people like me who want to buy the .002 AND CAN'T, because Sawyer WON'T ALLOW IT! Please have Travis add it back to the retail market, so that EVERYONE can buy it! I'd even buy 2 and give one to a village or community that needs it. Bombas Socks does something like that. Buy one & give one. I'd be perfectly fine with that! Get as many "Zero Zero Two" filters out there as possible! Help as many people out there as possible!

Thanks for your thoughtful message; and please thank your family for their work with African Inland Missions (AIM).
On my recent mission trips in Kenya with The Bucket Ministry, I was blessed to meet several people from AIM. They have very humbly blessed our ministry in Africa. We often travel to very remote areas such as Shompole (as was shown in Dan's video) near the Tanzanian border, or also the Pokot or Turkana tribes to the northern reaches of Kenya. AIM pilots have offered to work with us to get our missionaries into these remote locations.
Sawyer, The Bucket Ministry, and now, Dan Becker, recognize that within all of us there is a desire to be tender, generous and personally lift up anyone we see is in need. Sawyer and its partners have been doing this, quietly and humbly for several years now. The ripple effect of physical and spiritual health has been nothing short of a miracle. The seeds of Hope and Faith have indeed been powerful to see at work.
Thank you again for your kind words, and such positive faith-filled actions.
