Thank you for the video and the tips on finishing. "Protection pads" are the key to using screen type sanding media. Festool makes for 5 and 6 inch Sanders as well as RTS and DTS finish Sanders. They not only help the screens stay secure but they protect the little hooks on the much more expensive sanding pads from getting worn out.
Thanks, Skylar!
You are very welcome
very helpful and it looks amazing, cheers
Glad it was helpful!
Skyler, beautiful results!
Did you step through so many lower grits when you do boxes? I do not recall seeing you do that on a box. It is generally taught to go up by half…. Like 80, 120, 180 and 220. Not sure if the epoxy requires more steps.
Hi Dian, When I do boxes I start with 120 , and stop at 400. Epoxy definitely needs a few extra steps otherwise you end up with visible scratches. Maybe you couls step it up by half but then might need to spend more time on same grit?
@@woodworkingwithSkyler Thank you, I bought a small starter set of epoxy and will be trying my hand soon!
What a fantastic video. This will truly have people finishing their resin like a pro. Great job Skyler!
Thank you Derek
Skyler, you’ve gone and done it. I have a friend at a campground that needs a simple table with no legs 77 x 24“. I have decided to make it out of cherry and I have a few boards that have some knot holes so now I have seen, your videos on how to finish and your swirl charcuterie board. Now with your help, I will have the guts to fill those nut holes with epoxy and then I’m going to do a topcoat over the whole thing. I’ve never touched epoxy before so now I have few gallons in about 15 colors. I can’t wait to get started on it tomorrow. Love your work. It’s just so hard to understand that a photographer goes into woodworking and you are as great as you are in my family. We have one word, respect. And I respect you till next time it’s Richard signing off.
Have you tried other oils? I found that mineral oil stays oily on y boards.
Skyler, this is a great illustrative set of instructions! I’ve never done any epoxy before watching your videos. Thanks for sharing this one.
What number speed you use please🙏
