Finally, someone that explains it well without trying to suck money out of you lol. You have no idea how many new people are still learning but don't want to spend a bunch of money on each video they watch! I'll be looking out for your future videos. Thank you so much!
You need not fear for attracting money suckers. Poor things will only suck air and die! 🤣
You are very welcome
Your work matches your beauty ❤ very good...
Thank you! I just started working with geometric wood art, and I've been having trouble getting consistently sized shapes. I thought a jig would work, but I didn't know how to build it. Your teaching explained it and was very easy to follow. Subscribed. Your work looks very nice btw.
Love your work Skyler. If you don't mind a suggestion, if you make your stop block exactly one inch thick, the any desired cut can be made by adding one inch to that measurement. If you want a two inch piece, set the fence at three inches, etc. This eliminates trial and error or math mistakes. I have had mine for years.
I have lots of scraps and want to make some mosaic signs. This will work great for me. Both jigs are going to be super useful. But the first one… that really got me. I like how you put the strip across to hold things down. I always get nervous that small pieces like that will come out. And that’s a great sheild.
Nice explanation of the process! I'll be trying it out this week. Thank you.
Doing these geometric designs as an inlay would be really cool.
Stumbled across this today - excellent explanations. Now I have a way to use my scrap.
Thank you for showing us how to make the jig!
I love the designs with only using the few different pieces. You can make some beautiful work.
Thank you Skyler. I love your diamond jig and the additional safety flap to block the potential kickback. I will need to save this video so that I can make this jig for my next geometric cutting board. I really appreciate your guidance!
Thank you. Have fun and make some awesome things. If you find a great way to glue the pieces, come back and share with us
Gorgeous!!!
Excellent video. Thanks so much for demonstrating this step in wood working.
Excellent presentation.
Show......faço muito esses peças com cortes em ângulos. Adorei seu jeitinho para deixar as peças pequenas fixas na serra sem voar quando cortadas. Uma simples fita de tabua fixada nos dois apoios. 13:00 thanks!!!!
أحسنتي الابتكار..والنتيجه جميله جدا.. سلمت يداك...
Excellent tutorial.
Really cool stuff! You do a great job of explaining and demonstrating. I'm more of a metal worker but enjoy a little wood working.
:) thank you Rick
Wow, just wow! 👍
You are really Excellent More Tesselation designs ! I am inspired by your attention to a wonderful Method!
Great job. Thank you 😊
Thank You Skyler, I do enjoy well done content that is usable for me.
Glad to hear it!
This was great. Clearly stated and very useful. Thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
Love the shape that your working on. The 3D affect is amazing! I would just like to point out that the pattern top right side, about 2 o'clock is not quite right. Its not the same as the other side. Hopefully you picked it up prior to glue up, unless you planed it that way, Your work is fantastic Regards Nick.
Very cool, tank you
Nice but simple jig. I've watched other videos about making jigs. Yours is one of if not the best video. I've cut 90 and 45 degree angles using a circular saw and often they didn't come out as accurate as I liked so a jig makes good sense for making multiple cuts.
I'm so excited; needed some great Christmas ideas; I'm gonna make this jigs and also the trivets!
Happy holidays!
great tips!
Pretty cool but a lot of work. Beautiful job 😊
It crazy that a simple jig can create so many stunning patterns
So true!
Brilliant explanation and stunning outcomes with just three shapes.
Many thanks!
well that was great i've seen videos and it seemed way out of my league so never tried it thank you and all the stuff you doing looks GREAT if i can get as close to what you are doing
thats really good,,i have never seen anyone do this,,,,gotta try and do it,,,
Great video thanks for sharing
Cool jigs. Thanks, Skyler
Glad you like them! Thank you
I really try to concentrate on these great shapes.
Great work. Very helpful. I will adapt this for the tracksaw.
Lol 😂
Amazingly clear explanation! I'm a beginner and I understood it!😊
Glad it was helpful!
Love the work you are doing. Awesome.!!! When using the stop block, move it up parallel to the blade and then measure the one inch or what ever the width of the board is. Then move it back, clamp it as you did, move the wood up to the block, then cut it.
Hi , greetings from Colchester, England, just a note to say how much i enjoy your videos but this one in particular really got my attention and has provided inspiration to me, the geometric pattern you have there is totally stunning, please keep up the good work and thank you 😀
Awesome, thank you so much Stan
I have seen 1 or two of your videos and this one tops the list many thanks Keith ❤
I love the quiet and calm approach, it makes it easy for beginners to follow along and understand what is happening. 👌
Often RUclipsrs go way too hard on it with high-end machines and way too fast review as if you already know everything you are trying to learn.
And the boobs
Totally awesome, thank you for making the video.
My pleasure! Glad you like it
Easy jig, nice boards. Thanks.
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching
Wow, yeah great. Thank you :)
An excellent video Skyler. Simple and precise. Yes I subscribed!!!
Thanks for the sub! And welcome
Love this video! Thank you for sharing One way I measure using a stop block on fence is to move block to the blade measure then slide block behind blade.
That's a great idea!
That's a great little jig, very simple too.
Thank you. Glad you like it
Very helpful information. Thanks so much.
You are so welcome!
Very cool video. Thank you for easy and great explanation of the process how to make a jig.
Glad it was helpful!
Love your channel and what you create! I think I figured out your 2 jig problem. I made the diamond jig and was thinking about how to improve to the other shapes jig. Then it hit me, how to use the diamond jig for both. All you have to do is put a piece of your shaped stock between the blade and the fence to get the width, lock your fence and take out the stock. Now you can make the other patterns and take them out just like the diamonds. Also you do not have to guess at width.
That’s awesome. Will try it
I loved this video. Stunning shapes! Could make a jig that sits on the table saw to direct the pieces away.
:)
Great stuff. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it Pete
Fantastic tutorial 👌
Thank you
Thanks, that was a nice simple jig.
Glad you liked it!
This is absolutely beautiful
Thank you
Gorgeous designs! Thank you for sharing abd teaching. I will be a new sub because you are straight forward and your creations are beautiful.
Amazing. Very well done.
Thank you very much!
I do something similar for making segmented rings for turning on the lathe, I can see doing things like this for turning as well. One thing I do that could be usefull for you to add is on the saw blade cover I have an angled piece on the off cut side of the blade, so that when the piece is cut off it drops down the slope away from the blade and the small parts are blocked from getting back to the blade, it allows me to cut qite a few pieces before I need to stop the saw to gather them up. I also use a much wider block on the fence, like what you are using, this gives me more space for the cut off pieces. This is the first of your videos for me to see, I shall take some time and watch your others, it looks like you do some very nice work.
Thank you so much!! You are going to blow up here on youtube!!
Could only hope :)
Wow really great video. Thank you!
You're very welcome!
wow that was an amazing tutorial, thank you so much, I will be making this
Have fun!
Great explanation. Enjoyed watching.
Awesome, thank you!
you are a good teacher
Thank you
Nice video ! I sometimes have to cut hundreds of very small pieces. I use an empty shop vac that sucks up the cuts and all you do is empty the vac and separate the pieces from the saw dust. No stopping necessary. Works like a charm. Subscribed!!!
thats a great idea
Beautiful work!! Thanks for taking the time to share and explain so well. You really inspire me to try things I might not do if I hadn't.t watched this video. P.S. I also share your same passion...photography! I've viewed those videos too. Keep doing what you"re doing. You add so much pleasure to us all.
Thank you ma'am love you video and the explaining I appreciate been wanting to do this 3d design .
You’re welcome 😊
Thank you for your nice explanation.😀
You're welcome 😊
Great video Skyler.
If you secure a shop vac hose near where the pieces come off the blade they will be sucked up and you wouldn’t have to stop. I use it for cutting very small pieces on my miter saw as well.
Sorry didn’t realize that I already commented.
Loved them. Keep up the nice work.
Thanks, will do!
Thank you. If only you had shown how to combine blocks into a completed unit and how many of each colour... No, I am not asking you to come to Australia and assemble it for me. Anyhow, thanks, you are fantastic and an inspiration.
You're welcome!
Hi Skyler, great demonstration! The only change I would recommend is to measure that 1” to the stop block. The prices for wood at my local Woodcraft store have really shot up over the past 6 mos, sometimes doubled. Trying for less waste 🤔
great idea
And, using a stop block reduces the chances of kickback. It would attach to the fence and the fence would have to be moved the same amount equal to the width of the stop block.
RESPECT 😎
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Always great tips!!
Glad you think so!
@@woodworkingwithSkyler great viewing too
Very interesting indeed, this has given me a few ideas, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Nicely done young lady! Now the champfers? I want to see your setup for them. I love geodesic board!
I used my spindle dander with table set at 45 degrees
Excellent
Thank you
Amazing work..learnt a lot...loved it..❤️
Thank you so much 😀
I want this for my kitchen countertops.
That would take a lot of pieces!!
Very nice and a good description.
Thank you very much!
very good explanation tank you
You are welcome
❤ Hello Good Evening my Favorite Wood Creator ❤ glad to see your new video ❤ Hi from South Texas
Hello there!
@@woodworkingwithSkyler you are very talented 👍 you always have great ideas
What a fantastically simple jig. I very rarely make jigs from youtube, but i shall be making this one. Thank you. New subscriber, also. Edit. could you please make a video of the glue up of the one you have on the workbench.
Thanks for the sub! Welcome aboard
Hals Wood Shop Very good explanation, you kept it clear and on track. at 71 I could do this. As a retired elementary teacher, I can say you gave an on track lessson. Can you later mention where you take classes? Some of the majoy Wood Chain stores offer those and subscribers might appreciate hearing that referral, as much as learning from utube. Thanks.
Thank you. I took the class at my local Rockler store
Hi SKyler. I loved this video. You said it was simple and indeed it was! Really effective! The hexagon piqued my interest. I have been wanting to make a soccer ball out of wood. I would require hexagons and pentagons. Have you ever seen anyone make a pentagon? Perhaps you've even done it? That would get me a step closer. Again, thanks for such a great video!

That's fantastic! Thank you. I don't know how I missed that one with all my searching. 😏@@woodworkingwithSkyler
Oh that's a clever little jig.
Glad you like it
Thank you for sharing this with us. Everyone stay safe, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
@@norm5785thanks norm
That is so cool i will have to try thanks for sharing. Just wondering how you glue them up?
Good question! Still working on finding a better way to glue them
Great jigs. Now do a video showing how you glue that trivet together, please.
Will do
Good Job. Thanks for sharing. ;-)
Thanks for watching!
Nicely done.
Jigs go a long way to make safety a priority nd insure consistancy.
Absolutely
Could you do one for larger pieces to make barnyard quilts?
Skyler, just curious how you safely added the chamfer to such small pieces? Do you show it in another video?
Hmmmm, I can’t find one thing to correct you on, there is always a better way to do anything, keep up the good work, I’ll keep on watching, thanks for sharing
I'm writing to you from India.
Hello there
❤
Hi This was an excellent and well elaborated presentation. This a work of art. I will definitely try to copy your instructions. After I get the pieces how do I attach them together? Do I glue them? I like to copy your other finished item on your left. It would be nice if you show how you make the final work. If I learn how to put them together like you did , I like to pour epoxy on them. What do you think ? I appreciate your in put. I must say you are an artist.
Let’s go to the miter “sauw”🤙🏾
❤❤
great jig and instructions for building one....thank you so much for paying this forward..... just wondering how do you put a chamfer on all those small pieces?
Thank you. I used my spindle sander with table at 45degree
that's a great idea!@@woodworkingwithSkyler
What method do you use to assemble them? Template, clamp or something else so that the shape remains unchanged during gluing?
Thank you, I hope you made this jig video just for me! lol!
You bet! Hope you liked it:)
NO no . . no she made it just for me , she was looking right ME the whole time
Instructions ok for DIY learners. Wider sled with 30 degrees stop set to length of shape no need to guess lengh.
:)
