No do not do that. You are making them more likely to get contamination. Even though they are "sealed" bearings, grease will seep into the bearings when pushed in through the zerk fittings as they are not truly 100% sealed.
A much easier idea is just disassemble the spindle clean up the housing and parts, spray everything down good with LPS3 and reassemble. The parts will not rust with LPS3 on them.
I really don't see that getting the grease into the bearings. No pressure to drive the grease in. I would repack them by hand or just put new ones in. No need to fill the cavity. My opinion.....
The cost of bearings is relatively low, and the process of changing them is straightforward. Therefore, the addition of grease may seem unnecessary and potentially messy.
What a shame Arien's chose to use cheap Chinese bearings on such an expensive machine??? If mine ever fail I'm going to replace them with good quality sealed bearings😁
Well..... I "GUESS" That's not a BAD IDEA, 🤷♂, However those are SEALED BEARINGS from the Factory. I suppose it'll work, but again, Sealed Bearing's are Just That, and they are Made for the Application, If anything I would Cross reference those Bearing's with a Better Part # / Brand and Just Replace the Bearings if you are gonna go that Far to Tear it Apart like that. Then, what I would Do rather than FILL That whole Cavity with Expensive Grease???? Buy yourself some FLUID FILM, Or WOOL WAX and Spray the Inside Cavity with it before you Replace the Bearing and Put it back together and for OVER KILL SPRAY the NEW Bearings before you Install them. It'll Keep the RUST Away and you want be waisting your Hard earned MONEY On GREASE Needlessly. Just my "OPINION". But a Good Video on Installation of a ZERK FITTING. And I Like your Grease Fitting on the end of your Grease Gun...... Is that a LOCK N LUBE???? Nice...
You do not ever open up a sealed bearing and install it like that. You are making them more likely to get contamination in them. Even though they are "sealed" bearings, grease will seep into the bearings when pushed in through the zerk fittings as they are not truly 100% sealed.
The older models came with grease inserts and and then they switched to sealed bearings and no inserts . Now you have unsealed the bearings and added grease inserts. 🤦 SMH
Sealed bearings still allow grease to penetrate. When you use a grease gun it is under immense pressure and will get inside the bearing. There are videos on RUclips that clearly demonstrate this fact.
@@trevormiller2017nah- I have this mower and was thinking of installing zerks - but after seeing the bearings are sealed and easily swapped out -I will just order a new set of sealed bearings IF they cause a problem...no need to put half a tube of grease in each caster cavity...
Very helpful video. I will be doing this over the weekend. Thanks!
It looks like their sealed bearings, so if you remove the seal off both sides of the bearings the grease will be able to get in them.
Correct, they don't need grease.

These are sealed bearings. A grease fitting will NOT grease the bearing. You have to pop the cover off the bearing and re-pack them.
Yes it will. "Sealed" bearings are not 100% sealed. Grease pushed in through a zerk fitting will seep into a sealed bearing.

Great video. Thanks a bunch doing this as well
smart and well done , will do the same!
Remove the inner bearing seals before reinstalling
Had to drill holes to install the zerts on them because they lock up and don’t turn
Cheap brand 😢😢😢
A great Idea. IMO. I Will do it on my Mower. 👍

Good job!
Thanks!!!
It’s the customer place to redo them in to good condition 😢😢😢
Nice

💯
thank you
They are sealed bearings and putting grease in there wont help.
They are sealed but seal was removed to allow grease in
The older models came with grease inserts and and then they switched to sealed bearings and no inserts . Now you have unsealed the bearings and added grease inserts. 🤦 SMH
Bearing is sealed so it does not help in any way
Seal is taken out to allow grease to flow into bearing.
Apparently you didn’t even watch the fn video

These are meant to be dry bearings . 70 years of mechanical repair here and this is superfluous.
They come from the factory packed with grease. It dried up over time. This will make them last 10x longer.
