    Excellent tutorial video. Watched a few times before giving my mower its first oil change and also grabbed a $6 transfer pump from harbor freight. Total mess saver and game changer. Great suggestion! Thank you for the help.

    Thanks a million. I tried just draining it using the tube and nothing came out. With the pump it emptied in three minutes. Great idea.

      Thanks Dave. I have actually been looking into some oil extractors. They have a hand one that holds 2.3 gallons for $94. You can change the oil through the dipstick. Also works on antifreeze, etc. Too bad I’d still have to crawl underneath for the filter

    I ordered an ikon xd52 and it’s getting delivered this Saturday. I am super excited. It’s my first ever zero turn. I had an old yt3000 riding lawnmower it gave out on me last season. I have two acres of land to mow. So the ikon should do the trick lol. I enjoy y’all’s videos they are very informative!! Keep up the great work

      Also I'm sure you probably know this but I found out you can buy a hose extension that you can connect to the drain plug and it will extend it out far enough for easier access. It also prevents the leaking that occurs for many people around the plug when the plastic heats up and cools off.

    The supplied oil tube is suppose to go straight down behind the right wheel motor to drain properly - not straight out over the wheel.

    • @BuildALotAcres
      @BuildALotAcres  Год назад

      Perhaps, but there’s a pulley directly under it. I doubt it would have flowed out any better, despite being warm oil. I maintain that it’s a crappy setup. Thanks for the information though. Appreciate the comment 🙏

    I use a small electric oil pump and I just place another hose into the top part and suck all the oil out. No need to use the drain plug.

    • @BuildALotAcres
      @BuildALotAcres  Год назад +1

      You should do a “break-in” oil change after the first few hours of use. This gets all the small metal bits out and impurities. Without knowing if the PO did it, I’d assume they did not and do it to be safe. After that every 50 hours or once a year.
