Another great video. I just had mine delivered and went to check it just as the video instructed. I was surprised that it was actually set to the correct height and pitch. I also like the easy of the pedal to raise and lower the deck. I was also impressed with how much quieter it was compared to my cub cadet. It was loud-this is much quieter. I am guessed, it is due to the deck construction/design.
Need newer how to videos of the 2023+ Ikon. Have the 42 inch and your videos nor manual show anything regarding leveling, greasing bearings, spindles, replacing belts or belt diagrams. Where is this available if not in manual?
I adjusted mine today with it set at 4.5 inches and got everything set correctly. I then lowered it down to see if it was still correct at 4 inches and it was not level anymore but the pitch was still correct. So I leveled again with it set at 4 inches this time. Got everything good and checked at various lower heights and they all matched up. Level and pitch. It was even good at 4.25 inches. I then raised it back to 4.5 inches and it was not level there. The pitch was fine. Any ideas on why this is happening?
Use a 5" block of wood w/ your desired measurements marked, then bring the blade to the mark without getting up or measuring again. Wrench is ¾" GET A RATCHETER!
I just bought one of these from "the mower shop" in Stow Ohio. Came with one flat tire, deck wasn't leveled and pulled hard to the right. I wasn't home when it was delivered but, obviously they did not prep the machine at all! So these are your dealers? After leveling the deck according to your video it still cuts like total garbage. I had a 2014 john deere x300 rider that gave a perfect cut and I mean perfect. I watched countless videos before purchasing a zero and seen nothing but rave reviews so I went with this mower. NOT HAPPY AT ALL. I mean when I get done mowing it looks like I didn't even mow. I mow at 4" and did with my john deere as well....this deck has ZERO vacuum to stand the grass up! Not to mention when I leveled the deck at 3" according to your video... when I raise the deck to 4" the blade height is only 3.75 but at 3" is measures 3". This has turned out to be a total piece of 3700 dollar shite that a 500 dollar cuts better than! NOT HAPPY AT ALL! The dealer was so horrible I wont even bother contacting them to correct the problem! YOU the manufacturer should make this right.
Update 8/1/21 .. although I don't appreciate the condescending remarks left by the mechanic on the paperwork about checking tire pressure before leveling the deck (no kidding?!?) Ken.. the owner of "the mower shop"reached out to me after hearing from Ariens and picked up my mower to make things right. This mower is completely different now.. cuts like a beast and stripes like my 6k xmark I used to own. According to the notes the RPMS were off by 400... I would say a lot more because this thing cranks now...almost seems like to much but if the dealer adjusted it than fine. The notes also stated that I over inflated the tires but I went off what the tire states. But I guess it's different in the book so make sure you go off that. My deck leveling wasn't to far off according to him but I also questioned it as my concrete wasn't very level. He also put the hitch on that was suppose to be there and included new blades and 2 quarts of oil and a filter for my first oil change for the overcharged price that wasn't quoted to me. I am very happy with the mower now. Ken was very stand up and professional about making things right. Although the manager that ignored my calls and wouldn't return them is no longer with them(according to ken) I would still be hesitant on dealing with anybody but ken when purchasing from "the mower shop" I say this simply because customer service has gone completely out the window with any business. They no longer value you as a customer. They look at you as if...either buy what I have or move on.. with shortages everywhere you really have no choice. So you either get wanked around or keep looking. This is everywhere and with everything not just lawn mowers. It's a sad world we live in today but thank you ken from the mower shop for addressing my issues
I guess this is easy IF you have a lift to get your mower in the air, but is impossible if working on the floor as you cannot see the blade on the opposite side of discharge chute. Also, I saw NO CHANGE when I was adjusting the pitch on the chute side no matter how much I turned the nut.
Thanks for asking! Ikon XD 52-inch models are highly desired models, and while we have inventory, they go fast. If your local Lowe's doesn't keep much inventory on the model you want, you can always try your nearest Ariens dealer: www.ariens.com/en-us/dealer-locator
I just purchased an Ariens Ikon XD 52 last week. I have attempted to level the deck but ran into an issue. 3 of the deck hangar points are correctly leveled (both Front and the Left rear). The Right rear of the deck is high and needs to be adjusted DOWN, but the hangar is already loosened to the point that the deck is not even making contact pulling down on that support. Before I borrow a trailer and take it in, is there anything else you can suggest?
Thanks for asking, Doug. That is odd, but let's check a couple things. First, ensure all tires are inflated to spec. and are equal from side to side. Second, ensure you're taking measurements on a flat, level surface. If that doesn't do the trick, first contact your nearest Ariens servicing dealer before taking it in. They may be able to provide additional suggestions. To find a servicing dealer in your area, follow this link to our dealer locator tool: www.ariens.com/en-us/dealer-locator
@@AriensChannel Thanks for you quick reply. Tire pressures are good. I will start over again tonight with leveling and will also check to make sure 1) ground surface is level, 2) blades are straight, 3) deck is straight by lowering it to the ground and using a level. Other than a twisted deck (this is unlikely, right?) there are 2 deck connection points to the frame with those horizontal rods in the front. Anything to look for with those horizontal support rods? I really don't want to have to borrow a trailer, take it to a dealer, and wait 3 weeks (this is their current backlog) without a mower for what may or may not be an answer on a mower that I purchased less than a week ago.
I did everything all over again. Both front blade tips are at 3.5". Left rear is at 3.75". But Right rear is at 4.25" (1/2" higher) and the hangar is already adjusted so loose it is not making contact with the deck. If I push down on the Right rear it does go down but then the front Left raises up. Unless you have a suggestion on something else to check, I think the deck is twisted or warped. I need some help because I don't think I should have to take a brand new mower to a dealer with a 3 week backlog while I'm without a mower. Help?!
Hi Doug, we apologize for the frustration you're experiencing. At this point, we suggest contacting your nearest Ariens dealer. Our dealers are an extension of our team and will be able to diagnose and resolve the issue. If they determine the issue is a result of a manufacturing defect and your unit is within its three-year warranty period, the repairs and or replacements are covered by our warranty promise. You can use our dealer locator tool linked here to find Ariens servicing dealer options near you: www.ariens.com/en-us/dealer-locator
Any particular reason you set the heights in the middle of its movement "3.5 inches" instead of all the way up at 4.5 inches? I would think it would give u more room to work underneath. Are the settings not as accurate all the way up?
Thanks for asking, Joseph. Setting the height at 3.5 was really just a random selection - you can level and pitch your deck at any cutting height, including at 4.5 inches if it's easier.
Thanks for asking, Jackson. You don't need to be concerned with the center blade. The blades on our units are all on the same plane, so as the deck shell is pitched up or down, or leveled left and right, all blades move together.
You didn’t mention to make sure your tires are all set to the correct air pressure before you measure the blade heights. That will throw the measurements off.
I wish you would do some videos for the Ariens pro zoom 60 in. commercial models 992807. I think this may be a discontinued model but you have never did any before, it will be great if you'll did! FOR SOME LIKE MYSELF WHO ATTEMPTS TO ALL MY SERVICE WORK😤. I'M Trying to level pitch and synchronize the height of cut. Have totally serviced everything else. Anyways awesome mower I love it. Manual is just confusing but aren't they all.
HI! We just got our Ikon52 yesterday. Question: With the difference in height play front to back, uder which conditions, lawn cutting scenarios, might more height difference be better vs. less difference? Keep the vids coming! :D
Congratulations on your purchase, and thanks for being part of the Ariens family! Our recommendation is to set your cutting height to cut no more than 1/3 of your total grass blade length with each cutting. So for example, if your grass blade length is 4 inches, set your cutting height to about 2.75 inches.
thank you so much, sir :}
Is there a video for the Ikon envy deck system since ours does not just hang, it has turnbuckles and pins???
It’s nice that this will work on a flat but not necessarily level surface like most garage floors
Just purchased my Ariens Ikon XD 52 yesterday. I'm happy to see plenty of manufacturer videos on this mower. Thank you!
Welcome to the Ariens family! Glad you like the content 👍
Very useful video! Thank you!
GREAT instructional video, only thing I might add is to check tire pressures before any adjustments are made.
Will there be an update for the 2023 model?
Wondering the same thing Tony
What size wrench are you using??
How can I fix my deck from wobbling when mowing?
What size wrench I need to do this step ?

When the mover is on, I am trying to turn PTO Blades on, and it's Clicking but won't work. What does it mean?
Thanks for the informative videos.
Glad you like them, Philip! There's plenty more to come.
Cut a 2x4 the height you want to set the bade. Much easier than trying to hold a tape measure and read it.

@@dougbrown6756 Hey Doug, I have this exact same issue and I was wondering if you were able to fix it and, if so, what was the solution?

What size nut/ranch is used for the adjustment?
3/4" and a ratcheting wrench will save you a lot of time and frustration.
It's always good to count how many turns that are made, so that way, there's a reference point.
Is it reasonable to measure against the deck rather than the blades? I can’t get underneath mine as easily, even at max height.
I know this is 2 years ago…but I’m Having the same problem. How the heck can you get under there!!!
