Thought I'd look up how to stream on OBS if I ever do so and this video was so dang helpful for someone like me who just tends to get very confused very quickly with what a bunch of settings exactly do. So thank you for explaining it in a really simple way that was easy to understand what each did.

@@ralphjustralph401 Well your CPU and GPU do most of the work while capturing video. RAM matters yes, but in this case if you have an ok CPU & GPU to work with then you're good with 8gb.

I watched dozens of videos and I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. You are quite literally the only person who even brought up the Display recording vs game capture. Every person I ever saw do a setup of OBS never brought that up so I recorded all my gameplay footage for months in display mode because that’s where my elgato was so I thought it was what I had to use. I deleted all my videos and haven’t made one in months, but damn dude this is just what I needed to get motivated and jump back in. Thank you so much man

Thank you a billion times bro. There are so many settings out there for OBS but no one except you explained the CPU usage preset. This was literally the reason why I had laggy recordings (was at medium). Now tested different presets while having task manager open and well well my cpu performs best at very fast because at faster it sometimes hits 99% and gets laggy for a little bit. Now I have lag free recordings and all this just because of you. Thank you bro. have been looking for a solution since a week and nothing really worked.

For those who didnt hear any mic audio when you stopped recording and checked the video. Just place it in an editor and then you will hear and see your video, game audio and Mic audio all separated. :)

Just got OBS Studio and tried a short recording of Subnautica for RUclips (just private upload to check quality) but it looked terrible after uploading (very pixelated even in 1080) so hope these settings will help improve stuff. I used screen recorder and 1080p (my screen is 3440x1440, but set the game to 2560x1440 and only recorded that area) recorded to flv, not MKV, and didn't convert it to anything before uploading to RUclips. Will try again tonight and see if it become better.
You can't, but what you could do is running 2 instanced of obs and recording things separately or you can set up a custom resolution in obs, for example 2500x1080 instead of 1920x1080 that will be wider so you have space to put your gameplay on the right side and then other things like your webcam on the empty space on the left in your editor, you can then play around with this, make separate tracks out of it, so you have a track with your game fullscreen and then a separate track with your webcam but that's pretty advanced

You were saying earlier in the video that you can convert the MKV clips once you're done into MP4, how do you do so..? Pls help, my MKV is over 300MB and Google doesn't recognize MKV files T^T

when i was trying to record genshin this also happened to me, but to fix it i changed genshin to a windowed screen, then i was able to actually see the game. u can switch it back to full screen after and it'll still be there, lmk if this helped!!

Hi there, when recording in Windows capture the smaller the size of the cam the less resolution and it becomes blurry. The ootput and canvas are 720. Cam is a c 922 logi. Tried game capture but the audio had a delay. Thanks for your help 👍

Dude, this video was so helpful. I was using Windows 10 XBOX Game Bar to record Spiderman Remastered on a 2K screen, and it didn't look good at all. Lagging, big drop in quality, I didn't get it. Quick question tho, I can only get audio from my headset mic if it is one the same audio track as the desktop. I was hoping there's a way to fix that with out having to buy a different mic?

I watched another video stating that I should have two mixer tracks for audio but they didn’t explain that you have to designate which track the audio goes to. I tried to record a video last night and my microphone audio was recorded over the gameplay because of this reason. 😭😭

Another good way is to right click the preview and click show preview to off. This makes your computer not have to do so much work

You're a hero. Tried to record an indie game that is almost impossible to record. Recording a window, while cropping did it.
I love your videoes! I have one question tho. Can you record your gameplay and your webcam in different tracks aswell?

Is there a shortened way to record by pressing buttons on your keyboard? FOr example: Alt-z

than go to start recording and add your shortcut key
than add keybinds for stop recording too
you can you have to be in a game and press ALT and F4

11:55 I had the black screen for Forza Horizon 5. In my case, I managed to make it work after I re-opened OBS as Administrator. Great video mate!
