Thanks for the video! I want to add however if anyone is using a Blue Yeti and you can't get it to stop picking up your typing even when moving threshold all the way to the right, try adding Noise Suppression. I put my polar pattern to Cardioid and then went Compressor rattio 2, threshold -16.10, Attack 2ms, Release 100ms, Gain 9.9. Expander is set to 1.6 ratio, threshold 0, attack 2, release 100, gain -4.3, Noise suppression RNNoise. With these settings using a blue yeti. It could be my key switches, I don't remember what switch color mine is, but they're louder than I like and it ends up being really loud on stream and transferring to my mic.

Damn, my mic quality is amazing right now even w/o vst plugin (i tried and it sounds worst instead so i turned it off) Now the question i wanted to ask, how to make this system-wide instead of obs only? Wouldn't it be great after we set everything up and let other apps to have the same quality? Please do a guide for that! That would be sick!
You could use OBS to set your mic up how you like it sounding then copy them over to Equalizer APO since the UIs for all of them will be the same and EQ APO will make it systemwide
@@comkioxd I'm not talking about just base apo though basically any vst you can add in OBS you can use in eq apo aswell, just download a limiter vst and use reacomp if you need a compressor vst too. You can also get reafir in OBS and copy the chunk data for it into the config file on apo to get the exact reafir noise profile setup. If you need further help there's tuts on yt
Raising frequencies below 60hz (especially 20hz) is a complete mistake. Most people use devices (headphones or low-level speakers) that can't even make those sounds heard. Increasing those frequencies without the necessary analysis increases the softness of the voice but lets out the resonances generated by a possible untreated environment. A similar thing occurs with higher frequencies. Most people struggle to perceive frequencies higher than 16000hz. Above 20000hz we touch frequencies that the human being is not really able to perceive.
I followed the older tutorial for SLOBS and I had a problem with the picking up my first and last letters. It didn't sound good. I tried your updated tutorial and I am glad you mentioned the purpose of the "Ratio" for the "Expander". It is absolutely a game changer!! I lowered my value to 1.5 instead of 4 and it sounds clear now. Thank you!
Pretty useful and detailed tutorial. However one thing you got wrong in the noise suppression part is that "Speex" and "RNNoise" are always available, while "NVIDIA Noise Removal" requires an NVIDIA card and only shows up when you have NVIDIA Broadcast SDK installed. Love your contents anyways 😉❤️ ----- Edit: Speex and RNNoise are running on the CPU and not based on AI, while NVIDIA's stuff uses your GPU and is AI-based.
@@gagelol well, you can use rtx voice with GTX cards and Nvidia broadcast with rtx cards (dumb I know) so it might work the same in OBS and you might be able to use Nvidia noise suppression for both GTX and rtx cards. I'm not sure though I have a 3060 🤷
I found a problem where whatever I laugh, my microphone doesn't pick up, and I would put more gain into it, but I also am worried that if I put too much volume it might break out the microphone distorted

I hear no difference with/without filters. I hate how hard and annoying sound is to set up when I have no idea what I'm doing, or hear any difference. I wish there was an easy way...
The bottom line is is that there are software out there that can seriously change one of these cheaper low-end mics into sounding a lot better than when it would initially, but in reality a $400 sm7 bee is a thousand times better than anything you can get out there not only that but pretty much anything over $100 is going to get you close to this guy's my quality mind you majority of this video even the part where he talks about adjusting the my quality he still using the $400 microphone he only ever uses the cheap one for like 4 seconds and this is like every video he does with these cheap microphones he has like six or seven videos saying oh perfect OBS settings to make your mic sound professional and blah blah blah blah blah he's like a thousand clickbait titles in the end like I said before if you just save up 200 bucks and buy you a good dollar microphone you are never going to be disappointed with it you don't have to buy the 400 dollar sm7b but when you start getting into microphones like that where you have three or four $200 microphones the moment when you get something like an sm7b where it's just God like compared to everything else you start to realize oh yeah there is a difference but it is not the difference for the audience it's a difference for you and that's what I've come to realize is that it it doesn't really matter how good you can get your mic sounding as long as you can get sounding good enough at a certain point that no one could complain about it or rather I mean just anybody could just complain about it

Thank you so much! now im waiting for your next video "Make Any WebCam looks Expensive In OBS | Webcam Settings & Filters (2022)" :D
It’s all about the lighting
@@itsjustcj8973 ehh some webcams aren’t good
@@OnKnox true
You can always use your phone as a webcam
Yeah it’s really just about the lighting and how you adjust your settings. I have a video covering the c920 if that would help you, you could consider checking it out
I’ve searched everywhere for a video that will explain to me why I keep hearing a buzzing sound in the background. Your video actually accidentally helped me realize that the the pc fan was was vibrating my mics arm, so I moved the mic arm and re-adjusted my filter settings and no more background buzz. Thanks
so incredibly helpful, thank you for making this and for organizing the video in such a comprehensible way
By far the best video I have seen on how to use the OBS setting to adjust your microphone. Thanks my friend! This was so helpful! 🙏😀
Thank you for going step by step and allowing us to hear the audio differences. Great, informative video
This video is perfect! I actually bought the K669B and was about to return it, after watching this video, i fine tuned the mic, and now sounds perfect. THANKS!
I like these improvement vids, I’ll make sure to adjust these settings more next time I stream.
Thank you so much, I couldn't figure out what to change!❤
This video was really helpfull, it's incredible how filters can improve audio quality to that extent.
The only problem I have is the "Monitor and Output" option. There's always a slight delay when hearing my own voice which bothers me quite a bit.
thats so you can hear everything properly, you dont leave it on
@@Awpenheimer Cool. So it won't affect anything if I turn OBS monitoring back off after testing and opt to just use my interface's direct monitor feature while streaming?
EDIT: Actually, after sending this comment I played around with it and realized I just needed to set it to Monitor Only (Mute Output) after testing.
@@mason3750 yeah turn it off monitoring is just to hear your own voice, it won’t change what you’ve done when you turn it off
I rarely subscribe because i don't wanna subscribe to too many youtuber and second they just talk a bunch of random things to get to the point. But you sir! From start to finish is so informative! It's like cutting every youtubers bits of information in their video and put it into yours. Thank you! Sorry for bad english.
This video is amazing… the amount of detail & the way you described every step was brilliant!
I’ll defo be trying these settings out myself!
This is the most USEFUL video for the MIC configuration. It was so simple and easy to follow.
Loved this video. Really easy to follow along, pause and test my setup. It sounds great in my ears, can't wait to test on my next video. Thanks.
This is BY FAR, the most comprehensive, but simple to understand video on microphone settings and filters. THANK YOU for this video! I will be Subscribing, sharing and praising this video to all my dj forums and groups! Just plain EXCELLANT! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!!
Damn, my mic quality is amazing right now even w/o vst plugin (i tried and it sounds worst instead so i turned it off)
Now the question i wanted to ask, how to make this system-wide instead of obs only? Wouldn't it be great after we set everything up and let other apps to have the same quality?
Please do a guide for that! That would be sick!
You could use OBS to set your mic up how you like it sounding then copy them over to Equalizer APO since the UIs for all of them will be the same and EQ APO will make it systemwide
@@nexcellent apo only lets you change the eq of your mic though, it doesn't have a limiter or a compressor, noise suppression or anything like that
@@comkioxd I'm not talking about just base apo though basically any vst you can add in OBS you can use in eq apo aswell, just download a limiter vst and use reacomp if you need a compressor vst too. You can also get reafir in OBS and copy the chunk data for it into the config file on apo to get the exact reafir noise profile setup. If you need further help there's tuts on yt
As the other guy said, I use Equalizer APO, works very well, you'll have to download a couple VST plugins, but it's worth.
@@dremmyo Can you share your entire process? A step by step guide perhaps?
Have never seen someone go so into detail about all the settings and how to adjust them yourself, thank you!!
Above 20000hz we touch frequencies that the human being is not really able to perceive.
thanke you sooo much for helping me
i started watching your videos a couple days ago and i love it ;)
link for marvel GEQ is not working
I followed the older tutorial for SLOBS and I had a problem with the picking up my first and last letters. It didn't sound good. I tried your updated tutorial and I am glad you mentioned the purpose of the "Ratio" for the "Expander". It is absolutely a game changer!! I lowered my value to 1.5 instead of 4 and it sounds clear now. Thank you!
link to this plugin doesnt work, can you give new one plz?
the most complete guide for obs audio on youtube !!! thank you !!!!
Love your contents anyways 😉❤️
-----
Edit:
Speex and RNNoise are running on the CPU and not based on AI, while NVIDIA's stuff uses your GPU and is AI-based.
don't think any nvidia card but rather an rtx card
@@gagelol well, you can use rtx voice with GTX cards and Nvidia broadcast with rtx cards (dumb I know) so it might work the same in OBS and you might be able to use Nvidia noise suppression for both GTX and rtx cards. I'm not sure though I have a 3060 🤷
This is hands down the BEST mic guide out there, it explains every filter to perfection. I've tried a few. Love it! Tysm! Keep up the great work.
I found a problem where whatever I laugh, my microphone doesn't pick up, and I would put more gain into it, but I also am worried that if I put too much volume it might break out the microphone distorted
This video just blew my mind with the amount of knowledge in it. Just picked up the T669 and couldn’t find a video actually explaining the setup but this video did wonders and was perfect
I hear no difference with/without filters. I hate how hard and annoying sound is to set up when I have no idea what I'm doing, or hear any difference. I wish there was an easy way...
The bottom line is is that there are software out there that can seriously change one of these cheaper low-end mics into sounding a lot better than when it would initially, but in reality a $400 sm7 bee is a thousand times better than anything you can get out there not only that but pretty much anything over $100 is going to get you close to this guy's my quality mind you majority of this video even the part where he talks about adjusting the my quality he still using the $400 microphone he only ever uses the cheap one for like 4 seconds and this is like every video he does with these cheap microphones he has like six or seven videos saying oh perfect OBS settings to make your mic sound professional and blah blah blah blah blah he's like a thousand clickbait titles in the end like I said before if you just save up 200 bucks and buy you a good dollar microphone you are never going to be disappointed with it you don't have to buy the 400 dollar sm7b but when you start getting into microphones like that where you have three or four $200 microphones the moment when you get something like an sm7b where it's just God like compared to everything else you start to realize oh yeah there is a difference but it is not the difference for the audience it's a difference for you and that's what I've come to realize is that it it doesn't really matter how good you can get your mic sounding as long as you can get sounding good enough at a certain point that no one could complain about it or rather I mean just anybody could just complain about it
@@E.S.R.OG_ecoli my mic cost $30 and with his settings it actually help
By far the best video for mic settings I have ever seen! Thanks sooooo much!
people commenting that the vid is really cool, even tho there wasnt enough time to watch it completely :haha:
i started watching your videos when you had 60k subs. I see you have grown alot within the last year. I just want to say God bless you and congratulations my friend.
‘How to make any mic sound expensive’ has a Shure SM7B 😂
His tutorials really helped my 20 dollar mic sound good, I'm very surprised how well it sounds
whats wrong with shure sm7b?
he has shure sm7b so you can hear him better you can't make every mic sound like a good mic
I watched like 6 videos on the Fifine mic I got today. After your video I finally got it tuned in. This helped me a lot and now hopefully my channel will grow a little. Thank you keep up the good work
Hands down the best Mic video on RUclips. Better than the 2023 version of it as well.
Cheers!
I'm gonna come back to this vid everytime I need to recalibrate my mic, your understanding, easy to follow, and you help your fans produce great great results!
this is the best video on mic filtering ive ever seen. Explaining what each filter is for and also showing examples of what each slider in the filter changes helped me understand how to tweak my settings to exactly how i need them. thank you for this video!
I use a blue yeti mic, and even though this mic is "studio" and high quality, this video improved it tenfold! So no matter the quality or price of your mic, this will help A LOT.
I was going to try your settings for my new Blue Yeti but I first decided to use them on my cheap G331 headset mic I have been using to make videos for months now. The improvement over my old settings is night and day. The quality is clearer, voice louder and even managed to get rid of esses that bugged me to no end. Thank you very much man! You the GOAT!
And BTW I've seen dozens of these videos and you're the first one I've seen that shows exactly how the compressor actually works
Holy hell I've been looking on how to reduce the reverb echoey effect on my mic for ages and you're the first dude to point out I could've put my mic wrong 😭
Gotta say. Best video I've watched so far on how to use OBS filters
A TON of quality info presented here. TYVM! I bought a cheap mic via Amazon, TONOR TC30, and while it sounded OK, it now sounds MUCH "richer" and fuller.
Ive had this mic for 5 months and wasnt talking on the right side. When I 1st got it I thought sounded horrible but talking on the right side makes it sound beautiful. Havnt even finished vid and its sounds better.
this video is what a guide should be. really grateful.
Man you are a genius i love you so much you changed my life
Hands down the best way I’ve heard this topic explained 10/10 ⭐️
Made my Razer Seirin Mini sound way better when compared with its raw form. Thank you so much for the help!
Probably the best tutorial I've found about OBS and mic out there. Thank you!
I am very excited to stream again after watching your video. My sound was absolute garbage. I didn't buy another mic, I just followed each direction you gave, and now my sound is fantastic!! Thank you so very much!!
Thanks for this video. It transformed my recording quality from "low budget garage studio" to "expensive professional sound studio" with just a few clicks and adjustments. Remarkable.
Thank you! These tips helped me adjust my super cheap earbud mic to sound much better! Much more balanced volume, much less static, etc. I really didn't think it would make this drastic of a difference, especially with a mic this cheap.
Edit (6 months later): I now have the hyperx cloud core headset and the mic quality is drastically improved with this guide!
I've been avoiding messing with mic filters because it didn't make sense to me and I could never figure them out. This made it sooooooooooooo simple and easy!! Thank you!!! T-T
Just wanna say out of every OBS mic tutorial yours is the best by far!
ive been needing something like this tutorial forever. i havent been streaming because my mic sound was complete garbage but now actually knowing this stuff and seeing them in action finally helps me understand. googling and reading never helped since i havent found a video like this one yet and i am the kind of learner that without seeing it in action myself first i wont be able to understand it
I get that I to have to see it to understand it to.
If there were still star rankings, I'd have given you 500 stars for this tutorial. So crisp and effective. Just wow. Thanks a lot!
As he mentioned, his settings are only meant to get you CLOSE. When I matched his, it was rough. Playing around after though, sounds AMAZING! Great video!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!! I came from your Streamlabs audio settings tutorial, which helped me a year ago, now I'm switching to Streamelements with more confidence thanks to you!!! 🥰🥰🙏🙏
I didn't know about the expander, but after I started using it, I don't really see the need for a noise suppression anymore. Great video!
You're an absolute legend dude, I was trying to get my Blue Yeti sounding good for ages and you sorted it, thank you so much.
You are my hero. along with your tutorial my sound quality is incomparably better ! The best tutorial on RUclips for adjusting and improving voice recording quality ! Thank you !
This advice has drastically helped my audio sound better on my Let's Plays. You just earned another sub, my dude!
A huge thank you for this video, wish I had this 2 years ago when I first got started with OBS! Love the step-by-step instructions that are clear and easy to follow
I can't tell you how informative this video is. I hope it get onto the page of everyone who's looking for a bit better sounding mic.
Thank you! This vid was a lifesaver for helping to understand how much tweaking can be done to make audio sound good in OBS with any mic. I have a Blue Yeti but the Ghub software for it has been seriously letting me down, now I've disabled Blue Voice and am just going with the OBS filters alone and it's significantly better!
Really can't thank you enough for this! You are extremely easy to understand, even for someone very new to all of this. Often, I feel overwhelmed by the many options available and my content suffers because of it, but I am happily binging your videos and feeling like I'm learning so much. Thank you!
This was a wonderful video. I’ve been bugged about how my K690 sounds and this video at the very least explained the first set of filters more than most did. I’m working on the equalizer now. Great work.
I tried a couple of different videos to set up my yeti and this one worked the best by far. 🙏
bro, this is the most in depth video i found. great job, you went above and behond
Thank you very much for this video! I have been struggling with filters in OBS for a while because no one went into the detail that you did explaining what all those darn sliders actually did! Very informative and now my mic sounds immensely better!
This video is golden! Extremely helpful and delivers just what it promises!! My mic got so much better after this.
Just got into not using my headsets mic and got a Wave 1 and this was so helpful, not in just how to use OBS but what each of the plugins do and how they work! BIG thanks!
DUDE! YOU SAVED ME BIG TIME! i have the fifine mic and its perfect quality for me but the sensitivity has always been an issue. The expander and the compressor changed my quality big time
Simply brilliant. Followed all the steps, limited the panic modes, boosted my cheap mike to almost broadcast levels. Many thanks!
I found that the 3-band equaliser on OBS managed to achieve a better sound than the plug in recommended, but that's just me, in case anyone had issues with the plugin! Seriously though this video was the most helpful vid on mic sound I've seen thus far, thank you so much!!
Yes it is a new addition. I’m working on an update for this video :)
not gonna lie... i really needed this video lmao. my mic is pretty dialed in but this will make it better, AND now i know how to deafen my keyboard strokes
