Love your videos, keep them coming.
Thank you, super useful review, much appreciated!
Definitely be interested in more in depth info. Keep putting out great content.
Always interesting and pertinent comments. Excellent RUclips channel . Keep up the excellent work Mr. Dovey.
great meeting you at vidsummit great video!
JEVEN is an incredible guy i love watching his videos
Great content that is very relevant. There's way too many reviews of exotic things, so well done for shinning the light on more affordable gear.
I like that! Thank you. 😃👍
Thanks!
Great video.
Well done sir!👍😃👍
Very much appreciated, love your explanations super clear i'm not good at English, but i understand you so well, thank you so much . Yes, please tell us more about Cine EI, thank you in advance 😍
Yes Final Cut listen up with the gyro feature!
Hello, Jeven thank you for this review. Yes we can use view finders like at the beginning when we start using DSLR for video (and Zacutto is working on a viewfinder for smartphones). . Regarding the FX3 I didn't find that the image was so nice especially in slow mo that I found blurry . In comparison I found the image way better when you used the A7 S3 . The FX3 has some features ( breathe compensation.. ) that we started to see on the alpha 7 IV but there is no update for alpha one, A7 s3, and FX3 . Why ? The reason might be that that there soon will be update (alpha one mark II...) of these cameras.
Nice I was just looking at cameras
As a Sony FS7 owner the FX30 is *EXACTLY* what I want to see for a B Cam! So I don't need to change over all my lenses away from Super 35
The perfect small time RUclipsr camera! once you have monetize your channel and wanted something better to up the production level yet the prices of full frame lenses can be intimidating sometimes!
Does it come with a top handle too?
Edit: I asked the question before even watching the video. I guess you addressed in the video.
Hi do you have any videos where you solely used the f30?
I might have to replace my a6400 with this. What is the plug in for catalyst browse for premiere ?
Thanks for the review Jeven.
I gotta say, this camera does not convince me a bit although I'm a Sony Fanboy.
is there a speed booster to use full frame lenses and get a wider field of view available?
To get expose outside with the FX30 would a grey card be best or what would you prefer?
nice one brroh
Thanks for this great video... Is there a way to learn about that Premiere stabilization plugin you mentioned, that uses gyro data instead of the warp stabilizer?
I would also be interested in this!
Would also love to know! 😮
Is the Sony ecm-b1m microphone compatible with the fx30?
As always, great review.
I would also like to know if you can record your content on SSD drives.
Also if there are aspect ratio guidelines on screen.
Finally, I would like to know if the touchscreen works fully 100% and if there's also focus peeking,
Thank you very much for your reply (in advance).
Hey Mario, did you ever find out a way to save direct from fx30 to an SSD?
Cheers!
Awesome video! The problem is, i want to buy everything ;). But I will consider buying this camera as a 2nd.
do you have the ability to test the the stability of this vs the sony a6600?
Do you need to buy a lense? Does it come with one?
does it have an anamorphic mode not having to take a monitor would be great
Can you shoot sports videos with the FX30
How good would this camera be for timelapse ?
hello,! can we use this camera with external flash for photo? thanks in advance
Jevon, sorry not video, but most recent.
Was following Justin B McB on and he intro’d me to “The Story till Now”. His drone shots… wow, while driving and doing trails kills me.
Plus I have been watching him Hindi trails that looks like folks haven’t traveled in at least 5-… 10(?) years.
His based in west Canada but also travels Wash and Oreg.
And his edits, music and coloring… dude is so chill and just does his thing. Lol, I honestly don’t know how good he is making video content. My wife just said it’s like watching a Nat Geo or Discovery video.
Gotta watch his Oregon, first Rubicon or the crazy huuuh… McKensie trail!
I extremely enjoy your videos and learn do dang much from them so I’m hoping you can help me. I’m looking for a pocket zoom camera that’s not an SLR for ease of hiking and traveling. I thought you might have one that you’ve used and can recommend. Thank you so much.
For some odd reason I’m thinking that’s not actually you.
SONY ZV-1
@@Richcaptures thank you so much
Is this a good b camera to go with the fx3 as main cam. Mostly use s cicerone
Jeven this was a great review as always, I'm a big fan of all of the great and super valuable content you share. Thanks! Would this camera be a good option for those of us that daydreamed about the A7SIII? What would you say is the biggest trade off between choosing the FX30 vs the A7SIII in terms of low light performance?
The FX30 is much better in low light than most of us need, and the FX30 is so good at low light that a few years ago many of us would have swapped their kidney for a FX30! So don't stress about low light in the FX30.
The FX30 has so many other extra features vs the a7Smk3, and the FX30 is so much better suited for filmmaking, plus is cheaper too, that the FX30 feels like a no brainer for me!
@@SoundSpeeding I appreciate your input!
Hi i will buy a camera,,i like a7iv but with that overheat issues...mmm....I liked the cooler system of fx30 but no having mecanic shutter and i readed i may cause some artifacts on photos with electronic shutter,,its that true? thanks
I am definitely interested in this one purely because its a budget priced cine camera with great auto-focus - however does it have option to switch from shutter-speed to cine-style shutter-angle?
I believe you can't do that
B10 supports FX30? It is not on Sony's compatibility list
how u got the camera ? everywhere pre order
Hi, anyone knows if it has inbuilt timelapse feature?
Think the Fuji xh2 will be a better investment for a similar cost
Klasse gemacht gefällt mir außerordentlich gut Best Regards from Germany MfG Peter Preis Dinslaken
Bro, could I have the name of the song at 00:30, appreciated your answer. Thank you.
Please explain cine E.I.
I have a Fuji XS10, nice as well, what would be the main differences for Vlogging??
I have the XS10 as well. The FX30 has the better video shooter ergonomics. There's a record button at the front that you can hit without reaching for the record button at the top. Also Sony has a bluetooth grip that allow you to start/stop record from a distance. FX30 has much more dynamic range with 10-bit color. The older brother (FX3) is Netflix certified. Also, XS10 IBIS is a bit jerky while Sony has always have a more natural looking stabilization. I think the main difference if you would like to switch as a casual user, would be the lens line up and autofocus performace. If you've never used sony, AF is extremely reliable. I have the ZV1 and when I tell you I dont even have to check focus is insane... the XS10 still needs checking. For vlogging run-n-gun type, the FX30 is multiple times more reliable with its AF and TONS of wide angle lens options. Fuji system is still quite limited with its video first lenses.
*I was going to get the A7C but NOW with this Cinema Camera at the same price I might just get this because My End game WAS to get the A7Siii and I don't shoot in in Low Light ever. But I don't think My Sigma 16mm f2.8 will be enough although I prefer an F2.8 Lens *
Hey Jeven, I was just about to buy the Lumix s5 probably second hand and now see this camera and I am not sure anymore. Even though I don’t really want to buy a Sony. That do you think?
Either are great cameras!
I suggest thinking more about the long term and the wider ecosystem, would you want to use a FX9 or even VENICE in the future? If so, get the FX30
If not, get a secondhand Panasonic S5
I hope I could afford a mirrorless camera someday 🙏
SONY FX30 - A Cinema Camera For Beginners & Pros!
Is it me or the fx30 has a really bad resolution? When he is shooting with a7siii it’s really noticeable better
Forgive my ignorance: What would be the difference to record video with this compared to a Sony A7IV?
Ergonomics - aka the single most important thing on any camera. This is made for video, so video usability will be far better than A7iv. Tally lights alone worth it
Also overheating, I’ve haven’t used the FX30 but the a7IV does overheat pretty easily in 4k 50fp or 4k 25fp
It is super interesting - all the RUclipsrs that have totally been "full frame or nothing!!!!" for the last few years are now all like "Sony Super 35 is totally rad and you should buy it...with my affiliate link, of course!!" So...take it with a grain of salt. If I am being honest, my Canon C100 Mk2 with a Super 35 sensor arguably looks better at 1080p, and the same RUclipsrs would all consider it archaic...mostly because there is no affiliate link available. Not saying 4k doesn't have advantages (it does - cropping in is clutch, and I love my Sony FX6) - just research thoroughly based on your needs before clicking...
Come on Final Cut - gyro stabalisation plugin please 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank You for this great video. I am a bee filmer. Which camera do I have to choose? FX30 or A 7 IV? Best regards, Kai from Kiel
Depends on your needs. If you are video only then FX30 is a great camera because its setup for video but if you want more of a hybrid then the A7IV is better. Also do you need Full Frame or will you be happy with APS-C. Those questions will help you make a decision.
@@JevenDovey thank You so much. :)
get the FX30
there is a slide crop in 4k/60 :)
I worked with that camera, and it's really cool to work with 😁
Would this be good for music videos or client work in general?
I have a canon Rp but I want to get into video and this seems like a nice option
As it doesn't shoot raw on external SSD , I am not interested .You can attach some cheap viewfinder and it;"s not an issue at all...I don't need pictures profiles or some log files .we need raw files straight out of the camera.
I’m new to everything Sony and the fx30 is grabbing my attention. What lenses can be used with this? I have a 28-105mm on my crop censor Canon M50 and I want to try to get a setup close to that but with the fx30
Get yourself a Tamron 17-70mm f2.8 for only $799, is an amazing lens to pair with a FX30!
@@SoundSpeeding thank u so much for the recommendation! I’ll be sure to look into it
@@aaalexorozco Sigma has some nice f1.4 primes as well which are cheap! (16mm, 30mm, 65mm)
Get the Tamron zoom for general purpose shooting, your "do everything" lens.
Then pull out the primes if/when you need an ultra fast lens.
Maybe get a Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 for your UWA zoom, or the even cheaper Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 AF / Viltrox AF 13mm f/1.4 / Sony 11mm f1.8 if you want to go ultra wide and fast with a prime
When you add in the cost of "required CF express type A cards for 4K 60/120 and HD 240 it's not inexpensive save your money for a A7SIII
I really can't tell the difference between a well done 4K action cam or phone video on RUclips and a FX 30. If all someone is going to use it for is RUclips save your money. Sony is marketing this as a "beginners" film making camera. Sorry Sony. GoPro, DJI, and the Insta360 people have some pretty good story telling video software included. You're good guy Jeven. Sony's marketing not so much.
Now they need an A7S30. With a EVF.
🤣🤣🤣 Mann every review you do makes me want to by the camera.. 😂😂
Does anyone know if the fx30 takes the same battery as the FX3??
Yes same battery
This gyro stabilisation plug-in you mentioned for premiere pro…
Where do I find it? Need it, atrociously!
I believe the gyro stabilization is in DaVinci Resolve no?
@@jammingdodger1632 I thought so too but he says premiere in the video so I’m curious now
Warp stabilizer
@@Rayvizual w mans
I thought it was a 26mp sensor?
found that info in Sony website!
20 for video
I just placed my order... They are currently out of stock... arghhhhhh
What town did you shoot this in ??
Laguna Beach
CINE IE please
👌👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏
Привет!
I like the form factor (especially the mounting points), and the specs in general. But I wouldn’t call it a camera for beginners - by the time I priced out a full kit, it was well north of $4,000. Cheaper than a lot of other kits, but it’s still a serious investment.
I'm not a pixel peeper nerd, but when you show the intersected A7s3 images, they look much crisper and sharper. the FX30 looks "soft". sorry. but not impressed. i do accept the fact that its geared more towards people that don't pixel peep into image quality.
Thank you for the nice video. It is possible to know this location please.
Regarding the camera and comparison with a full frame, need to bear in mind that full frame lenses are very expensive, but in low light they obviously perform better. I use the 6400 and 6300 and for low light i rely on the Sigma trio.
No, in low light a "full frame lenses" doesn't perform "better".
I have a couple of Sony cameras one of them with a flip out screen that is useless in bright light. Sony needs to be producing screens that are at least 800 nits or more. I fly my DJI drones with a controller with a 1,000 nit screen. Still camera manufacturers need to up their game instead of selling cameras with junk screens.
The Pricepoint here in Germany is 2300 Euros, what makes it pretty much not worth considering....
You get an A7IV for that price so i'm pretty much disappointed 😞
Type A CF express card "required" for 4K 60/120 & HD 240 = Deal breaker
Isn't it 26 megapixels and not 20 like you said?
26 for photo but the 16x9 for video is only 20mp
@@JevenDovey ah okay thanks for the clarification, was confused since I heard all other reviews say 26.
Still waiting for photo samples for now I sleep 😴
1:10 The sensor is 26MP, not 20.1MP.
It’s 20 for video.
@@JevenDovey alright thanks.
Dang man, you sound like you got hit with Long COVID like I did. Hope you're doing okay man.
every youtuber repeats the same mantra: "6K downsampled to 4K is so crisp and even more detailed than other full frame cameras" - dude, look at your video, it's muddy; it's all bla bla about the specs and features that you might never use, people look at the result...
👍👍👍👍
CAN YOU PLEASE PROVIDE LINKS FOR THE PRODUCTS THAT YOU DISCUSS ON YOUR VIDEOS? IT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL AND YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO DO MUCH MORE WORK. TAKING THAT LITTLE MORE EFFORT JUST SHOWS THAT YOU ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR SUBSCRIBERS ENOUGH TO SEARCH FOR AND PROVIDE THE LINKS FOR WHAT YOU'RE DISCUSSING. I SEE IT AS CARING ABOUT YOUR SUBSCRIBERS ANYWAYS. 🤦🏼 THANKS FOR TAKING THE EFFORT
0:09 this camera is ONLY $1799 💰💸🐒
Rubbish as a complete begginner i wouldn't have a clue, its far to complicated for a complete newbie
i was pretty excited about the price at first, but let's face it, fx3 wasnt really a cinema camera either, and fx30 quite less so. no anamorphic, no dci4k, no open gate, no vector scope, no waveform, no false color, no shutter angle, no internal nd, no noise control so that it doesnt automaticallly fixes it in-camera, pretty abismal dynamic range for a cinema (11.4 at best? vs 12.9 on a7iv), pretty bad rolling shutter for a "cinema" camera (even a7iv in apsc mode has 13ms vs this 15ms+), not so good in low light, no prores internally, no raw internally, 120fps heavily cropped, even 60fps is cropped although slightly, and on top of everything it hardly usable as a photo camera because of no mechanical shutter (on a sensor that isnt either global nor stacked) and single mode photo only. i mean, its probably overpriced for what it actually delivers. its kinda exciting just if considering that this sensor will be used in an a7000 or similar series, otherwise i incline to think the hype is quite inflated
It’s $1,799…
Cheaper lol
