I think James' and Jason's voices were made for each other
Fuck yeah !
AGREED
Absolutely!
Now if only they could get along for more than a few nights
%10000000
The Return of the King.
I understand that reference
Indeed
for sure
Man those backing vocals are something that really made Jason one of a kind, irreplaceable.
pettypettywoodchuck2 ikr
Scott Hufford
He can growl for sure, he has a good rasp. But here he’s not growling, he’s harmonizing, but it still sounds badass 😎
Miss Jason's vocals, Rob can't sing.
@@nobodyimportant69 Rob's been getting better with his singing in my opinion, but he's still nowhere near Jason though.
Yup. James fked up
I think they invited Jason so they can turn his volume down one last time.
Pau Nuns But not the Backing Vocals ...
You beat me to this comment
Rob’s bass sound was still louder...bullshit. Jason helped write this fuckin song. 🤬
You're right😠
@@VanAnon51 No man his db's are loud enough ...rare thing for Jason tho ..I can hear his picking
you can tell how happy Kirk was with Jason back, he couldnt stop smiling all the time
Yeah but Kirk and Rob have known each other since high school, and are even in a cover band on the side together. Kirk just loves everyone.
You have 3 founding members of maybe the greatest band ever but people are enamored to see a former BASS player? Thats speaks volumes. Jason was the fans connection to Metallica because he was a fan. He was us. I love that guy.
Jason is , to me...THE Metallica Bass player!
I agree. Cliff had the skill. But Jason had the presence. He fit in the most. And rob, I don't really like rob.
Rob is cool 2, but Jason left and cliff died so they had no bass player? So for the scenario i think rob is doing a good job?
Rob does a decent job. Its better than having someone who cant play worth a shit. If James and the rest of the guys had never mistreated Jason, Jason would still be in the band.
Jason Brand
totally agree. Cliff was almost a one man band. But Jason fitted just right in. there is so much energy when he plays with them and it shines through on these metclub shows. He has a huge live pressence and I think hes the best bassplayer they had.
Exactly. Cliff kickstarted it. Jason picked up and finished what cliff had left. And rob is just happy as hell to be there.
...Rob’s bass was still louder than Jason’s...without Jason the band has never been the same. Rob is a talented bassist, but Jason had an attitude, presence, style, and vocal ability that can’t be matched.
Make sure to check out Jason and chophouse band. He is coming back to music from Art with some new original compositions.
after watching the videos and listening carefully, rob bass sounds more punchy than Jason because rob uses a precission bass which has punchy characteristics than jason jazz bass configuration
I've always said that cliff was the teacher, Rob is the most talented (dude plays flamingo guitar for crying out loud) but Jason was the energy that drove them. Especially at shows
@@clintdickerson887Cliff played classical guitar and piano too, the intro to fight fire with fire is all cliff no one else.
@@clintdickerson887 *flamenco*
Fucking Jason for fucking ever!!!!! With him metallica is THE Metallica!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Metallica is with Cliff...
MrTheMark21 Exactly
Why can't Metallica have two bassists
Thank you
...too bassic
Because Jason doesn't want to be James' bitch anymore.
@@tommyvercetti5802 he never was... Jason was a grown ass man he wasn’t bout to let another grown ass man bully him everyday lol.
OK just let the crab man play the songs he played on and jason plays cliffs songs and the songs he played on.
It always makes me smile when I see Jason playing with Metallica. 🤟
i wish they would play more Load and ReLoad songs live....
Jason was like the bassist frontman of metallica...his energy made em.look good on stage
Do you realize you can just put your watermark in the corner of the video or something else other than having it ON THE ENTIRE SCREEN!?
yeah thats a bone headed move
Best Metallica channel is metfan4l...by far
Anywhere but a small one in the lower right is just stupid. The eye is naturally least drawn towards the lower right since we read from left to right and from top to bottom. So watermarks, logos, etc. Should always be in the lower right corner with no exceptions, it outta be a law!
it is a little dumb, but i dont see it as a huge issue.
1:19 "Someones metal in this band"..yeah and he is standing to your right, his name is Jason Newsted!
Metallica would never be the same without Jason...
Jason = Werewolf
Metallica feat. Robert Trujillio
Hahahahah agreed. Jase owns this. I love Rob but I never really saw him as a real member. I miss Jason. He kills!
In point man, in point!
True
100% agree
Rob is the bass player that has more years in metallica
I really enjoyed the watermark the ENTIRE FUCKING VIDEO.
Jason Newsted and Cliff Burton are just a couple of reasons why I wanted to bass and still continue to play
jason newsted rules...
In 2019 I still say that Jason is the 2nd bassist of Metallica. I know Ron was there, Cliff was a genius, and Rob is a great replacement. But Jason is the bassist of Metallica. Forever.
Fcking period !
Jason was the best. Cliff was a better songwriter and Rob is a better bass player, but Jason had the personality and vocal talent that is lacking with the new Metallica.
We need to hear this song more...
Jason’s tone is amazing.
Bring Jason back !
hearing jason and james sing tgther is the match needed
Jason brings that punch to the live performances that they've been missing literally since Rob's first concert. Sorry Rob but you don't compare where it matters most.
Yeah, it's a bit annoying considering Lars is tightening up, and is at his best since 94, and James' vocals and energy are better, but they lack that punch that Jason had
Rob doesn’t have the same energy because he’s literally a fanboy in the band who’s getting to live his dream and can’t hide his excitement, which would be most of us but Jason could hid it in and keep the energy as aggressive
Jason excellent as always
Jason is the man.
The members of Metallica never accepted Jason as true member of Metallica but the fans did, on the other hand the fans will never accept Robert as a true member but James Lars and kirk do!
Correct! 🤣👍👏🤘
👏
Why are you talking for all the Metallica fans?
@@cletuspoirier2562 So you don't like Jason?
@@nataszasuarez6243 as far as I know, I didn't say that in my last comment. I'm refering that I like Robert, and there's plenty of Metallica fans who accepted him
Jason backing vocals and bass and energy miss so much can't beat
Jason and his heavy presence is felt in metallica.
metallica plus Jason = METALLICA!
I love Jasons Background vocals and these headbanging
Jason.... I love you man. Thanks for your back vocal, fun, energy and every drop of your sweat.
Jason makes them sound so much better live its unreal.
JASON! JASON! JASON!
Jason awesome as always
"where the fuck's your crown?" - that's how you do it, James
I love Robs bass sound more and but i like Jasons vocals more than Robs.
Metallica just ain't the same without Jason. Rob your great I don't want to take anything from you. Jason is and always will be a part and the hardness of Metallica.
Eric Storks Kanye
Great clip! I think this is why they shy away from playing Load era songs since Jason quit. So many of them kind of hinge on Jason's backing vocals to enhance the vibe.
I love you Jason you are my fav bassists Metallica ❤️❤️❤️🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
jason on back up vocals was a great addition for the band.
God...James' voice was on life support here
Fuk ya!!takes me back to when I was 13 first song I heard 37 now turned metal head been every since!!
Amazing sound quality for it coming off a camera :D
+Adrian Perez No the audio in this video is from the Metallica website. You can buy it in HQ. They just replaced the cam audio with that.
+Jason86906 rip
If only they dropped the hazing act on Jason he'd still be in the band. He got more validation and acceptance from Metallica in the 3 nights of these anniversary shows than he did in 15 years.
It went deeper than hazing, James threatened Jason when he was working on his side project EchoBrain.
@@TheRoadhammer379 Yeah that seemed to be the last straw for Jason and he knew he had to get out of there.
Ahh god this sounds bloody awesome with the two basses ah god its amazing
Couldn’t Rob be like, “I’m just going to sit this one out and enjoy.”
He should have done that
i heard that jason insisted that he play.. idk
jason is turbo fuel and ball in this band he and james , real rock metal only with jason
YEESSSSSS!!!!! nice to Jason doing a song with them again. i wish he would have stayed, no one could play a bass with a pick like him. also the backing vocals sound just right. (probably because he did them in the recording of the song)
Jason where he belongs! If only it was for good. He seriously needs to be back in Metallica... No disrespect to Rob.. but I've never been able to fully accept him as a member of Metallica... I miss Jason far too much.... :(
some one i can agree with! Jason was boss. especially in ...And Justice For All.
Where you couldn't hear him at all...
really? you must listen to music really quiet. he is there, if you listen to guitar and drum tracks, it sounds bad.
Rob is a really great bassist and plays more like Cliff than Jason ever really did but Jason played and helped write most of their music and his backing vocals are better and he fits in better than Rob. Still really like rob though.
David Elford Jason never helped write most of their music. That was James and Lars.
Jason and Rob on one stage playing at the same time? Amazing! But this is not that double bass what we asked for! :D
I'm not sure why people have to make comments like "he's not the best, but...". Who is the best bassist/drummer/guitarist/singer in the world, you know? It's all subjective. But to me, Jason was the coolest Metallica bassist.
This song is a beast... So is Newsted
Jason fantastycznie sprawdza się w rockowo/metalowej formule jaką tworzy Metallica !!
No a jego WOKAL !?! Niesamowicie brzmi wraz z James'em :):) Jest MOC !!
Jason come back to Metallica !!!!
el mejor bajista de metallicaa ohhh yehaaaaaa
Great duet voice James and Jason !!! :D
King nothing is an underrated song
Holy shit this sounds so awesome with Jason on the vocals. Love it!
such a shame they didn't play aint my bitch off the load record...that was like one of my fav song from them...
Jason rules...
Never heard about this! So awesome that Jason and the guys are cool again. Metallica is not the same without him.
Agreed Jason's back up vocals are awesome, I love the load album. I can't wait to see them again, new album soon means at least one U.S. Your. #metallicarules
JASON ROCKS!!!!!
King Jason 👑👑👑👑
Absolutely the best song from Load/ReLoad. And oh.......JASON FUCKING ROCKS!!!!!!!!
One thing people have to realize when they say things like "Rob is a better bassist than Jason", is that while yes, Rob plays with his fingers like Cliff, Jason is not only capable of finger picking (he just prefers to use a pick), but for many, MANY years, he also played ALL of Cliff's parts, to a "T", with a pick, instead of his fingers. If THAT doesn't take talent, I don't know what does.
They shoulda let Jason play it by himself. And yes, Jason's background vocals OWN
I'm 32, grew up with Newstead. Rob is great but Jason just fits for me.
Tip: You can hear the bass with headphones on
Until It Sleeps, King Nothing and Bleeding Me should be played on every fucking Metallica concert
Jason Newsted Forever !!!!.
I am absolutely floored that James can remember all those songs. Well all the guys really but as a singer that shreds guitar that is just amazing.
wow those four men created and justice for all the black album and load amazing
This is so good and genuine to watch
Man old James came back with Jason there "where the fucks your crown"
Wish I may, wish I might
Have this I wish tonight
Are you satisfied?
Dig for gold, dig for fame
You dig to make your name
Are you pacified?
All the wants you waste
All the things you’ve chased
Then it all crashes down
And you break your crown
And you point your finger
But there’s no one around
Just want one thing
Just to play the king
But the castle’s crumbled
And you’re left with just a name
Where’s your crown,
King Nothing?
Where’s your crown?
Hot and cold, bought and sold
A heart as hard as gold
Are you satisfied?
Wish I might, wish I may
You wish your life away
Are you pacified?
All the wants you waste
All the things you’ve chased
Then it all crashes down
And you break your crown
And you point your finger
But there’s no one around
Just want one thing
Just to play the king
But the castle’s crumbled
And you’re left with just a name
Where’s your crown, King Nothing?
Where’s your crown?
I wish I may, I wish I might
Have this wish I wish tonight
I want that star, I want it now
I want it all and I don’t care how
Careful what you wish
Careful what you say
Careful what you wish, you may regret it
Careful what you wish, you just might get it
Then it all crashes down
And you break your crown
And you point your finger
But there’s no one around
Just want one thing
Just to play the king
But the castle’s crumbled
And you’re left with just a name
Where’s your crown, King Nothing?
Nothing
You’re just nothing
Where’s your crown, King Nothing?
You’re just nothing
Absolutely nothing
Off to never-never land
The sound of 2 basses in my ears just gives me a orgasmic feeling I can't describe
I love Jason!
Jason is more metal than all those guys combined.
God I miss Jason! !!!
I have to say, lately I'm listening only to the Newsted albums, I always liked Load and Reload but lately they are my favourite ones, damn!!
Jason Newsted:
Normal: He's a good guy.
Singing: He's a beast.
I miss Jason Newsted
I don't understand why that crew member with the long hair keeps stealing Jason's bass guitars and playing with them.
+Andos2325 LOL
Sorry peeps, but Rob plays circles around Jason. Hard for me to admit bc Jason is my favorite of all 3 bass players. Cliff was the song writer, Jason was the live guy and energy, Rob is the talent.
Secret Warrior not really rob has never done anything close to what jason has done. Rob was a guy who was at the right place at the right time.
Jesse Deleon When it comes to being the perfect fit and bess man for the job, i completely agree, which is why i say Jason was by far my favorite of the three (even above Cliff), but Rob is a far superior musician than Jason, I'm sorry to say. But that doesn't really matter at this stage. Jason brought more to the table than Rob 100%
Secret Warrior I never understood how rob is a better bass player. Jason will always be better to me. I wasn't trying to be snarky so I apologize.
James forgot the fucking lyrics haahhahahaah!!
miss this guy much...
I love this song!
*reunites with former bass player*
*bass player who left for being treated poorly*
*such as the time he was turned down on a whole album*
*TURNS HIM DOWN DURING REUNION*
Wow, thanks!
Jason newsted ist der beste headbanger auf der Welt ❤😂
Now this is what we need for metallica mondays
Highly underrated song
I think it was meant to resemble Sandman. In the studio version, he even says "off to never never land" at the end.
And on a personal note, I'm glad they did "Black" and Load and Re-Load, and Garage Inc., and S&M. Those were great years in the late 90s, a new Metallica album or song of some sort every year for 5 years straight (including "I Disappear in 2000). And while so many bitched and moaned about how they changed, I personally spent the 90s loving BOTH their old 80s shit AND their new 90s shit. It was, and is, all good to me. I think the "Loads" filled out their catalogue perfectly.
When did Roman Reigns become a part of Metallica?
at times when he dont wrestle haha
Rob really does look like Roman with the beard
7 years huh? I still remember those shows like yesterday.
