both load and reload are for me, metallica at its HEAVIEST. Something about slowing down but not losing your punch. I feel these riffs whereas with Justice and Puppets, I felt the intricacy of the insturments more than the gut punch.
@@reanimated It sounds like it’s in a higher key, but I don’t have a guitar with me at the moment. Here’s what it certainly has - a buildup Intro, a main riff, two verses, two choruses, a solo that begins and ends right where Sandman’s ended and then there’s a middle eight/bridge that launches the song back into the chorus. From there the guitar stands alone for a few bars as the bas and drums reenter in time just like Sandman. They do end differently though. Sandman fades out.
@gamleskalle1 Every album in the 80's was a masterpiece. They were all different artistically but didn't have a bad track on them. No band in history has this many great songs. It's not even close!
I like both albums, but I don't think they are underrated, both albums were very popular in the 90s that is why Metallica still kind of comercial up until this day, because they took that direction in the 90s and succeed
Seeing as you guys did the Guns n Roses trilogy - you definitely gotta do Metallica’s Unforgiven trilogy seeing as these two bands were the biggest rock bands of the 90’s and even toured with each other
Definitely agree that the Unforgiven trilogy is a must! I may be in the minority, but III is my favorite of the 3 as it shows the maturity in James’ life to stop blaming others and look at himself. And it’s just a beautiful song musically
It's easy to point fingers and blame others for your shortcomings, blaming yourself takes real humility but can also be as toxic as blaming others all the time
Fuel by Metallica, the best driving song ever. Also react to their cover of Turn The Page which you need to see the video. Also their cover Whiskey In The Jar video watching a house get trashed by a bunch of drunken women lol
Ya I’m not allowed to listen to either Fuel or the beginning of Wherever I May Roam with my wife in the car. She usually gets sick from the abrupt acceleration and swerving caused by these songs.
They did this really cool stage stunt when this album came out and they were touring. During this song, at the end of the concert, they had towers falling over, pyro sets, and other things to make it look like everything went out of control and wrecked. Some more great Metallica songs: Fuel, Unforgiven 2, Sad But True, House That Jack Built, Turn The Page.
Damn, y'all went all the way in with a deep cut. One of my favorite bands ever. Elton John recently almost made ol' badass James Hetfield cry by calling "Nothing Else Matters" one of the greatest songs ever written.
You know what, I agree with you. I know it's not the popular opinion, but I don't care, I've enjoyed it the most of anything they've ever done. I love (almost) all their music, but Load was the album that really got me through some rough times and the one I listen to the most.
@@ralphfiligenzi6180 yeah I think she heard the “off to never never land” part and grouped them together. Creeping Death j believe they reacted to the live Moscow version and that was in 1991, so I can understand thinking they were around the same eras.
A lot of Metallica fans have and some still do shit on the load/reload era but I think it's mostly because Metallica was a lot different sounding and looking from the classic pre black album era. The truth is that it has a lot of well crafted songs with interesting and deep lyrics and I think it's pretty great
@@justdave9610 I skipped school the day it came out. I didn’t love it then, but over the years it has grown to be one of my most favorite from their catalog. I remember the hate it received, a friend of mine even threw it out the window of his truck. I never hated the album, I was just expecting something else, and being young and naive, didn’t appreciate it right away. I wish Metallica stayed on this path…their last couple albums, are fine, but it sounds like they’re trying to please the „fans“ who hated the Bob rock era, and only want Thrash from them…you’ll never please those people
This was my 25 year old son's favorite song since he was an infant. From 6 months old, when he heard this song, he was happy. King Nothing was one of the first 2 word phrases he spoke. He gets married this October. Bittersweet.
Their song "Fixxxer" is from the same era. Please listen to it, it's awesome! I love that you do so much rock and metal music reactions. Much love to you two
My first Metallica show was in 99 in São Paulo, Brazil. When they played this song, in the solo part (at 5:28), I thought I was going to go deaf, because when Kirk uses wah-wah the sound got too loud!!
My fav Metallica Song, probably more of the lyrics and all that crumbling feeling you can feel when you feel helpless in life at times though you think you have given it all.
"Careful what you wish, Careful what you say, Careful what you wish you may regret it, Careful what you wish you just might get it" Profound thinking. Some think if they can be rich or famous they will be happy - until they are those things and they are still miserable. Great review Brad and Lex! :-)
A little off topic but I attended the May 20th 1997 Seattle WA show of the King Nothing tour, during the song they had someone fully engulfed in flames come up from under the stage, he ran across and out again, the local rock station after the show tried to play it off as a real incident lol
People like to crap on load and re-load but there are some great songs on those albums. Until it Sleeps, Fule, The Memory Remains, Hero of the Day, and Bleeding Me are just a few. I personally really like Fixxxer and Where The Wild Things Are.
Fun fact about this song, Metallica were booked to play this at the MTV Europe awards but apparently they were told no swearing so for a laugh they played two cover songs Last Caress and So What instead. Check them out.
Hey Lex check out an old PanterA song called " stronger than all " - wicked breakdown in it. Thanks brad n Lex for being a part of morning wake up coffee time!
Great track They were meant to play this live at the MTC European Music Awards and instead played So What and Last Caress... Two songs with very very inappropriate lyrics All subsequent screenings had them editing and eventually cut out completely, was incredible React to Fuel
creeping death - 1983 ride the lighting album enter sandman - 1991 self-titled (black) album king nothing - 1996 load album these 3 songs are from relly different eras of the band
The LOAD album is so underrated. It’s like a chunky, bluesy, Metal that just swings. I love that album lol
HERO OF THE DAY...Next
both load and reload are for me, metallica at its HEAVIEST. Something about slowing down but not losing your punch. I feel these riffs whereas with Justice and Puppets, I felt the intricacy of the insturments more than the gut punch.
i think load is one of their best albums that does not get enough love
Definitely recommend Hero Of the Day.
Its my fave album tbh. It just hits different.
I love LOAD too 🤘🤟
Bleeding Me is another great under rated song
Yep.. and some Outlaw Torn action lol
@@walfam9846 definitely, they’re my two favourite songs on the album.
Great song and one of the best post Justice guitar solos.
they need to react to bleeding me & outlaw torn! one of their best songs
Load/reload is way better than Black Album
The "Off to never, never land" was actually a dig at themselves - King Nothing having identical song structure as Enter Sandman.
It is funny how they actually copied themselves. I’ve seen artists who don’t own their music get sued for this 😂
It does have the same structure,
But that's the structure of most standard rock/metal songs.
Now that you say that, I am noticing it more. It's almost like an inverted version of it. But that's basically the same guitar riff, ain't it?
@@reanimated It sounds like it’s in a higher key, but I don’t have a guitar with me at the moment. ‘90s Metallica is fukin’ badass!!
“Holier Than Thou” “The Memory Remains” “My friend of Misery” “Devil’s Dance” and many more!
Of wolf and man, and My friend of Misery are up there: )
Load and Reload were amazing albums. They get hate they don't deserve at ALL.
And 80s even better.
@gamleskalle1 Every album in the 80's was a masterpiece. They were all different artistically but didn't have a bad track on them. No band in history has this many great songs. It's not even close!
Bleeding Me is another good song off this album.
Bleeding me is a good one, its about his battle with alcohol.
great song!
Bleeding Me is, in my opinion, their best song lyrically.
That and Outlaw Torn are the two best songs on the album in my opinion (it’s an album that I actually really, really like).
@@ayanleman I’d say a draw with Outlaw Torn (especially live)
Low Man’s Lyric by Metallica is an awesome song you should react to! Trust me!

a very underrated song
Awesome tune🎶😁👌
Totally agree. Its a must !
Along with "Mama Said"
Load is such a underrated album ( as is reload)
I like both albums, but I don't think they are underrated, both albums were very popular in the 90s that is why Metallica still kind of comercial up until this day, because they took that direction in the 90s and succeed
No
Load is the better of the two. In my opinion Reload has a fair amount of filler on it.
@@samcourt6228 ReLoad sounds much more like Metallica, than Load. At least to me...
The single greatest regression in rock history.

If I'm right the unforgiven trilogy is a story of James' fight with addition and overcoming it
I think Brad's right. There's nobody to blame but yourself when you fall short of your expectations.

Sometimes there is but most times I’d say that’s likely true.

Fuel is just a fun, basic, adrenaline filled hard rock song. My favorite from the Load/ReLoad era of Metallica!
Was never a big fan of Fuel, but that Turn the Page cover is just excellent. Whiskey in the Jar is a very fun song as well.

Very
It's not that underrated, it was on the radio as much as enter sandman when it was released, its only cause its attached to load and reload
It's one of their most played songs.

This and Until It Sleeps were the first singles from the new 90s Metallica. It wasn't a bad sound, but it was concerning for longtime fans.
We wanted Metallica to take a stand against the alternative bullshit shoved down our throats, but instead, they were catering to it.
One of my fav Metallica songs
Still gotta get to Hero of the Day, Holier Than Thou, and Stone Cold Crazy
Brad, you nailed the interpretation. This time, you were right. That line about pointing fingers is about looking for someone else to blame.
