Yeah I am a Metallica fan and I think their first five albums are their best but I really liked load and reload. I went and saw them in concert a couple times between 1996 in 1998. Them and Pantera are the 2 best Metal bands I ever saw live .
I like where the creativity came from, but the hate (for me) is all the excess makeup, piercings, and the short hair. On St. Anger, the music itself isn’t popular but it’s James’s first time back in the studio and it’s about his emotions

They will get there due in the long run for the reasons you said. This is a great song and both albums are packed with greatness. The loyalty some fans have to pre Black work is due to the fact that back then Metallica wasn't what they are in this clip. In this clip they are the mighty Metallica. The metal band that is at the AMAs. Winning MTV awards. The whole thing. They were the biggest band in the world in most aspects. Friend, they didn't start out that way. They were not on tv. They made no videos. They were not winning awards. Only metal heads really knew what Metallica was and how great they were. It was like they belonged to the metal movement. Man, the more I watch it, the more I love this performance. They seemed to really enjoy the evening and they had so much energy. I always particularly loved James' vocals during Load/Reload era - he was still young and his voice was powerful, but at the same time it was already fully formed and more colorful than on previous albums.
Most AMA VMA etc. Shows are practiced to the point of almost of the Album (studio version) replication that's why regular shows/concerts aren't so close to that album sound for alot of bands

National anthems should be first easy to perform for the general public to perform (AJFA is not easy). Seek and Destroy might be better. It is a fan favorite, and it also is relatively easy to sing. But I have to say Harvester of Sorrow is kick ass song.

@Blake just listened, I have to disagree. A national anthem has to be a little more uplifting. Sorrow is in the title. National anthems should be first easy to perform for the general public to perform (AJFA is not easy).
Seek and Destroy might be better. It is a fan favorite, and it also is relatively easy to sing.
But I have to say Harvester of Sorrow is kick ass song.
