When James said in one of their concerts: 'Jason you're too metal man...Too Metal for your own good'...I dont think he realized how meaningful that was. Jason is indeed too fucking metal for his own good. Not only does he kick butt on stage but it actually made him quit the band as he was trying to stand by his principles. He didnt care about the money or the fame or anything else. All he wanted was to make music and he wasnt allowed to. So he quit. THAT is what you call a Metal attitude.

Metallica is a different band when Jason is playing with them. Their attitude and energy is elevated.
I think that's just Jason. I saw an interview with him after he played one song and his hands were shaking because he was so jacked on adrenaline. He almost unmatched when it comes to onstage energy and presence.
I still miss Jason. With all respect to RT, Jason was irreplaceable to me.
Jason is a god. None of the other bassists brought what he brought to the table live.
Saw them three times back in the nineties...and Jason killed every time...I always tried to get to his side of the stage

I love Jason. He's my favorite of the 3. But he left the band and they got Rob. I loveRob too, but he's almost too good for Metallica. Just a different sound. It works for their new sound. But give Trujillo a break. He's now been in the band just as long as Jason was (how crazy is that?!?!).

In an interview, Jason said that he wanted some of the fastest songs. He wanted to play Motorbreath but Lars said that Motorbreath was already taken. So he said "alright we're gonna do Whiplash".

I haven't heard these songs in years, right about when jason left. Robert has balls and is no way a slacker he does kick ass. But as I see in other posts and I think the same, jason just brings fire to metallica. He "fits" better. I do not want him to come back though. Metallica has lost it's edge and they treated him like shit. Rock on jason keep fighting the good fight.

Metallica lost so much heaviness with Jason, not that rob cant jam the bass, but Jason's backing vocals and stage presence are unsurpassed by anyone

i didn't realized how good Jason was until he step away and comes back n just how extreme he can gives wow. plus use to think that Kirk suck on solo but wow you can't never replaced such a unique guitarist wow. so glad to live the life of METALLICA thank you for continuing this journey with us all. thank you METELLICA
The coolest part about this is that Jason wasn't at his full "beast mode". Look at the versions he made of Whiplash in 2013 with his band. Fuck, they're like 'tallica in the early 90's. I'll always miss Jason, Metallica is good, but without Jason is like a beer with no booze.

cliff ruled. jason picked right up and continued to dominate. by the time rob got there i was not into their new stuff but all 3 are great bass players. jason & kirk fucking own this though. this is why i will always love this band.

Anybody else notice they are playinging this faster then normal? Lars set the tempo way quicker then usual right off the bat. I think a lot of these people are right about jason bringing an energy to the band. Hes even got old lars pushing tempos lol
