Have far to many on my backlog so skipping most but Unicorn Overlord may be the one I pick up. Im not sold yet but I always love Vanillawares art and while I have been a bit up mixed on their previous titles 13 Sentinels left a hugely positive impression on me. I do have FFVII remake for day 1 as someone has kindly bought it for me for my birthday but ive still not summoned the enthusiasm to play intermission yet so it will probably just sit there for a few months or years. I will play through the original again in the next few months like I do every year despite the backlog. On Octopath Traveler 2 atm (like it a lot so far) and after that it is Dragon Quest 5.

Metaphor looks amazing and the battle system looks super interesting. - I never played dq3, I've only played DQ11 and 5 actually. But I'll play the HD 2d remake - I've only played persona 4 golden which I loved and I'm going to play 5 Royal this year. I might buy persona 3 reload azure edition when it comes out. You know it's coming eventually. - Suikoden is one of the favorite series of all time and I cannot wait to play the HD remakes of 1 and 2. I still have my original copies of both for the psx. - I'm on sky 3rd so will be awhile until I play daybreak - I just bought like a dragon to play because everyone raves about it. Then if I enjoy it I'll be grabbing infinite wealth - FF7 is my 4th or 5th favorite final fantasy so The remakes haven't been something I need to play right away. I'll wait until the entire thing is out and then I'll probably buy the first one cheap and start through them. Ah sounds like you are doing the same. - granblue isn't really one that I badly want to play. I'll probably wait for reviews and maybe for the price to come down if I play it at all. Something about how long it took to come out and how hyped everyone is for it and the 20 hour main story just has new turned off - visions of mana looks hopeful. Just sad that square didn't build mana into a series skin to the tales series - Eiyuden Chronicles is the game I'm most excited about this year. Cannot wait for it. This is your first video I've seen.. Very good one. Like your takes. Subscribed.
Thanks! I only own a PC, a Switch, and a PS3 so pretty much everything I'll be talking about in depth on my channel will be games available on those platforms.
Nice video. DQ3 & Suikoden II are my favorite all-time games, so those are easy day 1 buys for me. Eiyuden Chronicle and any Trails game(s) are also pre-order / day 1. After that, I'll likely be waiting for sales on many you've included in your video. We're smack dab in the middle of another JRPG golden age, and I'm loving it.
The Biggest one here on this list that I'm excited for was Dragon's Dogma 2 just becuase I spent a lot of time playing and replaying it compared to other known franchises on these list.
Nice! When I played Dragon's Dogma for the first time a month ago I was mindblown. I usually don't miss really awesome games in the RPG and action RPG realm, but I somehow completely overlooked the game when it released in 2012.

That's a classic I rarely hear anything about these days! I remember renting that one at Blockbuster and playing through it on a weekend way too many years ago.
Nice list video. Out of that list, the only real big day one purchase for me is Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, although Eiyuden and Dragon's Dogma 2 will also probably be day one. Most of these other titles look fantastic, but I'm waiting for some steep sales. Most notably there is P3R, because it coming out so soon after Infinite Wealth means I have no reason to rush out to get it when I'll be playing Infinite Wealth already. I still wantd to get Octopath 2, but that's another one where I'm going to wait to buy it when it's on sale and I also don't really have a big game I'm playing.
Yeah, when great games release so close to each other something has to give. For me it's almost always the games I've already played (the remasters and remakes) unless they have significant changes to the story or gameplay. And most games are going to drop significantly in price over time so it doesn't make sense to buy them if you aren't even going to have the time to play them immediately. It just comes down to personal taste as to what takes priority.
I don't know if I'm going to buy any of these games day one, simply because funds may not allow. I am, however, interested in the SaGa game, Infinite Wealth, Izuna, Eiyuden, Unicorn Overlord, Metaphor, and Dragon Quest III. Especially Dragon Quest III because that's one of my favorites in the entire series. I'll forever stan the GBC port, but I do like the HD-2D style and think it'll work fantastically for that game. The rest of them are either definite no's or maybe if they go on sale and the reviews are good.
I remember playing through Dragon Quest III for the first time on the NES when my friend let me borrow it and I enjoyed the game a lot. I never got a chance to play the later iterations like the GBC version myself. So I'm really excited to get the HD-2D remake and relive the fun I had over 3 decades ago.
@@GaiusIsidoro The GBC port of Dragon Quest III is my go-to because that was the first version I played. I'm shocked that as a big fan of the original FF7 from back in the days, between Goblin Slayer and FF7 R coming out on the same day... I'll probably get Goblin Slayer, haha ^^;
I get you. I mean, I don't have a PS5 so Goblin Slayer is an easy choice for me. If I'm being honest though I'm not as excited for the FF7 Remake trilogy as I was for the original game. Kinda hard to take recommendations from someone who wont even play the games themselves or play them for the wrong reasons imo, i dont play these types of games just for the story, story is important but its the gameplay and progression mechanics that get me excited and keep me playing, ive played persona 3, persona 3 fes, persona 3 portable and now will definitely play persona 3 reload, excited to see the new battle system, progression mechanics and reimagined world of persona 3, heck i only buy remasters for games ive already played
That's an interesting take and I can respect that. The one thing that remasters have over brand new IP, sequels, and full blown remakes is the fact that they're pretty much guaranteed to be great games if you've already played and loved the originals because the changes made to the game are more like updates to bring the game up to modern standards than brand new experiences -- that's one of the reasons I included them on my list. They're already good games worth a day 1 buy to the right people.
Persona can be a hard one to take, based on the themes. The third one specifically deals a LOT with suicidal tendencies; so it's hard to recommend based on that point alone. Especially if you're already feeling down, or have family or friends that do. I bought the PSP remaster on Xbox one, but I've not gotten very far into it because EVERYONE has probably dealt with those kinds of thoughts at some point - I have myself, and I don't like that they basically "kill off" the MC for all the work you do to get the best results. Neit, Nien. Na da.
That's a really good point about Persona 3. Even when the game released in 2008 a lot of people thought the game's really heavy suicide themes would get it in trouble when it was finally localized and released in the west. Like you say its story beats can hit especially hard if you're in a really depressed mood. I take every opportunity to plug SaGa games when I can because I love most of them. But the series is definitely a lot more complex than your average turn based RPG, and kinda difficult to recommend as a simple pick up and play type game.
I included characters from 4 games. The focused characters going left to right: Marisa from Eiyuden Chronicle, Gallica from Metaphor, and Berengaria from Unicorn Overlord. The game I use for the background is an in-game screenshot from SaGa Emerald Beyond.
If visions of mana plays like trials of mana then I will skip it. I regret buying that. Basically each character is just a different person but ALL THE SAME skill with different animation.
Disagree. Persona 3 FES is the definitive Persona 3 experience. Reloaded leaving out half of the story makes it an easy skip for me. Also not happy that they recast most of characters. The cast has been this cast has been through all three iterations of P3 and a bunch of spinoffs.
I didn't like the additional content in FES myself. One thing I will say I do miss from Persona 3 Reload however is the choice to play the entire game as a female protagonist that we had in P3P.
Thanks for the reminder tho, definitely will pickup GBF Relink first, as its one of the earlier release, hopefully will reach end game before the big ones like FFVII Rebirth, Dragons Dogma 2 & Eiyuden Chronicle hits then proceed accordingly
I'm so on the fence with Granblue, but my friend is gushing about the game and it's multiplayer so I'm leaning hard to buying it. I'll probably wait a few days and get my friend's impression of the game before I go all in. People's impressions from the demo seem to be pretty good too overall.
Legend of Mana was the last game I liked in the Mana series (just not as much as Secret of Mana and Trials of Mana). It was what came after it that I wasn't so crazy about -- Children of Mana, Friends of Mana, Dawn of Mana, Heroes of Mana, Circle of Mana, and Rise of Mana. But I loved the Trials of Mana Remake that released most recently and that's why I'm excited for Visions of Mana. Just my opinion though -- I'm not trying to start a war in my comments section.
@@Finxc I personally haven't played the most recent remake of Legend of Mana, but I did like the original game. I don't think it would be a bad entry point into the series, but it might be better to get the opinion of someone who has actually played the remake. My personal favorite games in the series are Secret of Mana and both versions of Trials of Mana (the original 1995 release and the 2020 remake).
Dude.... You did not just say that about persona 3 reload.... Forget everything about the story. It's the experience. PLAY THE DAMN GAME WHEN IT COMES OUT.
I've already experienced the original though, not once but three times with P3 FES and P3P (and honestly, once was enough, lol)! There's too many other games that I've never experienced that are just begging me to play them. I've gotta stretch my wings and experience brand new things! There are JRPGs other than Persona 3 to enjoy in 2024.
It's sad how much this generation has promised us in terms of hardware capability & all we get are these cheap horrible pixel hd remake 30 year old crap games & even NEW games are deliberately made to look like 30 year old garbage.
Unfortunately there’s tons of next gen graphic games that offer very little innovation and failed to deliver compelling stories and retain memorability compared to the rpg classics. So you can keep your eye candy games, i’ll stick to a great story, memorable characters, and dated graphics.

U didn't like legend of mana???
I’ve been wanting to get into the mana series for a while now, would you say legend is a good place to start?
Naw dude sorry but you can't play Dragons Dogma 2 since you've played the first one. It's the same story after all. Just like persona 3 and reload. 🙄
Dude.... You did not just say that about persona 3 reload.... Forget everything about the story. It's the experience. PLAY THE DAMN GAME WHEN IT COMES OUT.
It's just a mid weeb trash rpg
I've already experienced the original though, not once but three times with P3 FES and P3P (and honestly, once was enough, lol)! There's too many other games that I've never experienced that are just begging me to play them. I've gotta stretch my wings and experience brand new things! There are JRPGs other than Persona 3 to enjoy in 2024.
Persona sucks
It's sad how much this generation has promised us in terms of hardware capability & all we get are these cheap horrible pixel hd remake 30 year old crap games & even NEW games are deliberately made to look like 30 year old garbage.
Unfortunately there’s tons of next gen graphic games that offer very little innovation and failed to deliver compelling stories and retain memorability compared to the rpg classics. So you can keep your eye candy games, i’ll stick to a great story, memorable characters, and dated graphics.
