@@jdrmanmusiqking Basically, it comes from the days when wrestling was a carny thing. A "mark" was the term back then for a person who had fallen for a scam, since they'd be "marked" as someone you or your buddies could potentially scam further. In terms of wrestling, it means someone who's falling for the "scam" of wrestling--meaning, someone who thinks that pro wrestling is real. Since that's not very common these days, it's usually used to refer to people who are just really deep, unironic fanboys of wrestling and love the whole thing. This is often contrasted with "smarks" (smart marks) who know the business and that it's all fake, but still show up to watch wrestling anyway because they think it looks cool.

I don’t understand people saying, “oh I didn’t play this game because I don’t know what Tatsunoko is,” that shouldn’t matter, at least it didn’t matter to me, the characters looked so cool and vibrant on the Tatsunoko side that I didn’t care and was super interested in learning about them, that’s what makes it a great fighting game.

Doronjo's a pretty interesting character, by the way. The story behind her is that she and her gang were meant to be the villains of Yatterman, but they were just so wacky and likeable that they ended up being the most iconic part of it instead. It got to the point that they did a recent sequel series and had it be from the POV of their descendants. And if you watch anime aimed at kids, you see that same archetype of a gang of endearing comedy-relief villainous henchmen crop up a lot--Team Rocket in particular stole a LOT of their shtick from the Doronbo gang.

The mechs in Lost Planet are named VS, an abbreviation for Vital Suit. So, the "perfectly balanced" thing in question who is being commented about was the mech, not the game (who could be a 4th wall breaking dialog).

Good catch; this would be perfect for Capcom Fighting Collection 3. They acknowledged Rival Schools/Project Justice and Power Stone with that new collection they announced, so I’m convinced anything is possible. Couple that with the Marvel and SNK collabs returning, if the stars were ever to align, it would be now. A game like this one doesn’t deserve to be lost to the past.

I'm still watching the video so I don't know if you mention it anywhere but 90% of the Tatsunoko characters in the roster had their designs done by Yoshitaka Amano, the artist for Front Mission, Vampire Hunter D and the first 6 Final Fantasy games. These were done as his first ever gigs in the industry and a lot of it is inspired by the art of DC Comics, particularly that of Neal Adams whose a personal favourite of Amano.
Amano did an art exhibit sometime ago in my city and there were tons of Tatsunoko art on display, mostly those of Gatchaman and Casshern, and it blows my mind to know that there's a Capcom game with ties to him.

Putting a fighting game with largely unknown characters, on a console that was geared towards casuals was a recipe for disaster, and I hated that decision to not bring it to PS and Xbox so much back in the day. If they re-released this game with updated graphics it would be as big as a new fighting game, because 99% of people never got a chance to play it; hopefully it happens one day.

There is something very interesting about how, for TvC they picked the ORIGINAL Space Knight Tekkaman, the slower of the two protagonist Tekkamen of the franchise; pretty interesting choice too, since I imagine a proper Tekkaman Blade should be speedy as fuck. like, the one line he has about Tekkamen in the show is simple: "Never Underestimate The Speed of a Tekkaman!"
with special moves and finishers that emphasize going fast as fuck - like the CRASH INTRUDE!
Edit: He was infact in there for the second release! Glorious. AS A FUN FACT, His Cinematic Super move isn't just a Voltekka, it's the BLASTEEER VOLTEKKAAAAAAAAAA - I.E the Ultimate Voltekka of an evolved Tekkaman. Hurts especially because i grew up watching Tekkaman blade or "Teknoman" on TV and would later go on to play hundreds of hours of project justice with friends as a Batsu main, so my team is already set lol. Hopefully these upcoming capcom fighting collections will see enough success to warrant them to release this as well. TVC is absolutely underrated. Speaking of other underrated FGs, a favorite FG of mine that is super underrated is Gundam Battle Assault 2. It feels clunky if you don’t know how to play, but it speeds up when you know what you’re doing. There are also 4 giant characters. Since it was PS1, it has no online, so not a lot of people played it. TVC had SF4 as its big rival, which is huge, but GBA2 came out during the Capcom dark ages or over saturation of fighting games. It is not a tag fighter, but it is the only Gundam FG that features mobile suits from G-Gundam. It also has the real English voice actors. Definitely check it out if you’re a fan of Gundams, giant characters, or just underrated FGs.

One of my favorite fighting games ever. I still have the official TvC fightstick (which only works if you plug it into a Wiimote lol)
    Great video!

Yoo great video! TvC is one of my favourite video games, so much so that I got the TvC arcade fighting stick despite not being that serious of a fighting game player. The only thing I never understood about TvC though is that Capcom didn’t include Amaterasu in the game, especially since Yami is TvC’s final boss. Also, Oki, another Okami character, would’ve been such a great Capcom ‘rival’ to Tatsunoko’s Karas.

Tatsunoko has been around a very long time. If youve watched Samurai Pizza Cats, Battle of the Planets (G-Force / Gatchaman) or even Speed Racer then you know Tatsunoko to some degree

Saki was actually a Marvel Vs. Capcom Support character in the first game, like the others she was selected at random, but it was nice to see her in this game, and also having her old support move in her move set

Bro I was there in full time when TVC dropped. You had guys just swallowing their own tongues about buying a Wii when they realized how good and fast it was catching on. It was great. I myself already had a Wii since I actually had a life outside of traditional fighting games and liked playing Smash/Party/Kart with my friends. TVC was such a great time, admittedly it got eclipsed over time when MVC3 came out but if you were there in the beginning, you had a nice appreciation for where the basis of MVC3 came from. Also it was the first time we got to really see Morrigan in a new model since the meme about her was that Capcom just ported her DS/VS sprite into anything they could.

Not gonna lie, I would actually want a crossover game between Tatsunoko, Marvel, and Capcom. The cultural difference between super heroes from both the U.S. and Japan is what makes it interesting and would be awesome if it happened.

The majority of the Tatsunoko series did air in America. Gatchaman even got two different dubs. I remember seeing a handful of these in the late ‘80s when I was really little, and the. A bit in the early ‘90s I think on TBS or something. Then a little later in the ‘90s Sci-Fi Channel would play some of the OVA’s that got made of Tatsunoko characters. But if you’re a certain age, it’s not unlikely that you watched a few of these on TV along with Speed Racer and Superbook.

This game was really something special, very few games feel this good just to push buttons in. Just immediately fun from the word go.
They really said that they were going to take all these spandex clad superhero types, and without a shred of irony, they were going to be the coolest cast they could be.
