slightly related: I’m going to dive into the Trails series for the first time this year and I’m so excited! I definitely won’t get around to Daybreak this year lol but I’m seeing myself play through the Sky trilogy at the very least!
The only game I would add to your list would be Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth. 100 Heroes is one of my most anticipated games of the year, but if there's one reason why it's a bit farther down my own list, it's because it's a spiritual successor to a game I never played. I don't have the nostalgia for the Suikoden series, unlike a lot of other people, so it's harder for me to buy-in. That being said, Trails through Daybreak is my #1, but I know I'll play 100 heroes at some point this year and be able to judge for myself.
It's gonna be a good year. Like A Dragon seems hype but I haven't played any of the games in the series and probably wouldn't start with Infinite Wealth if I do play it this year.
@@CommRio Start with Yakuza Like a Dragon. I just finished it a month ago, and it's excellent. It's this gripping tale of crime and the seedy underbelly of the Japanese Mafia, but the entire game works on Dragon Quest logic!
I'll be mostly getting through my backlog this year, but i gotta at least get Trails Through Daybreak and FF7 Rebirth. I mostly get games when they reduce in price so that FOMO doesnt get to me (although that changes from time to time)
I'm mostly excited for Hades II and a few other indies that I'm not sure will come out in 2024. But I am also excited to check out games in my backlog/pick up a few games I've missed on sales like Sunday Gold, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, Hi-Fi Rush, Jusant, Shadow Gambit. Oh also, if anyone likes turn based strategy games please PLEASE pick up Marvel's Midnight Suns either on a sale or through Humble Choice for this month January 2024. It's an amazing game.
I'm not a huge Marvel fan but I heard about Midnight Suns and the gameplay looks really fun. I love strategy and card-based combat. But I'm just a bit hesitant because a lot of people hate the dialogue... How was that part for you?
@@mewichigo3410 Personally I really liked the writing and dialogue. It's endearingly comic book-y and kitsch. It's partially just what you would expect comic book character dialog to be, and the more you play the more some characters will end up growing on you. What kept me coming back is how much I ended up caring about the characters and my relationships with them; and the addictive gameplay loop of "hanging out/talking with characters > exploring your base > combat".
@@SparksV Thanks for the detailed response. The gameplay loop sounds right up my alley! I think I can withstand the cheesy dialogue if I just imagine I'm reading a comic book. 😅
Hi-Fi Rush is a game that I think starts out a little too slow for its own good but once you get the ability to parry it immediately became so much better. Some of the stages are long but overall I'd say it is deserving of all the praise it gets
Oh I completely forgot about the Princess Peach game! It looked really fun with the whole "theater" aesthetic. Add that to my list I guess 😅 Probably won't be able to even get to half of the games I want to this year alone. Still haven't played Hades (I know) but those kind of games are my jam. Enter the Gungeon, Moonlighter, Dead Cells, Vampire Survivors, and a few others. I need to rectify that soon 😂 The Daybreak hype is real, and yes as someone who's played the game already it deserves that hype and then some. Van is an amazing protag and the story of Daybreak starts off strong and just gets better as you progress, with a few twists and turns that were genuinely shocking and that will send the theory crafters into overdrive. Easily the best game in a new arc, and I don't say that lightly. Can't wait to see everyone get their hands on this gem during Summer. Ah man... Eiyuden Chronicle. The game I knew nothing about until I was recommended Kali Q's channel. He singlehandedly sold me on the game and from the trailers I can definitely say it's a top 3 pick for me as far as most anticipated. Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth is number one for me. Been a Yakuza fan for a long time now. 2024 is really looking stacked for rpg fans. Awesome list man, hope these games exceed all expectations for ya👍
For me. like everyone else and what I have been doing these past few years, I will be continuing going through my backlog of games before I can transition to any of new ones. But if Konomi decides to release there ds Castlevania games towards modern console this year, then all bets are off and will be focusing on those instead.
I'm not really hyped for anything, tbh. Maybe P3 Reload and that new SMT looking game, But I'm not really going to buy them. Trails through daybreak does look interesting, So Maybe I'll look some things on it. I do know that there is one mechanic that can fix one of my problems with Trails... Though, I shall refrain from speaking on it. I want you to exprience it yourself.
I think it's kind of pretentious that you've actively went out of your way to never play a single Final Fantasy. It's like people who go out of their way to brag about how they've never seen Star Wars. You don't need to play the whole series, but at least play one of them to expand your horizons & refine your tastes. I recommend 9, 6, 10, and 7, probably in that order, but pick what you think looks interesting.
It was meant as just a joke about the fact that I do talk about playing other JRPG series and it’s hard to fit them into the schedule with Final Fantasy as a particularly notorious one for me. I do intend to play them someday but I’m in no rush. There are so many amazing games out there

Yeah! Enjoy the ride! It's quite the journey, and I hope you enjoy it
I've finished sc and 3rd ch today and now im on zero I'm loving it so far

That's completely fair and definitely the more cost-conscious way to go about things

As an XCOM fan Midnight Suns have of course been on my radar for a while but just never made the jump up to definitely should play. Maybe one day
