Just a note on GBF Relink, its never actually changed developers. Cygames and Platinum both had messages released about what happened. Basically some Platinum staff was hired to help Cygames in developing a real time combat system (similar situation as Nier Replicant) however Cygames kept expanding the scope of the game - more characters, more enemies etc. - well beyond what they originally hired Platinum to assist with - this caused scheduling conflicts that forced Cygames to have to take the game on entirely by themselves internally since they kind of put Platinum up to more than what they were originally told they were going to do.
You know it's all business when there's no intro haha Thank you for the video! 2024 is going to be absolutely insane for new releases. Gonna be banger after banger. Outside of the popular games, I didn't know that The Girl Who Kicked a Rabbit or Sacrifire were things and my interest was immediately peaked. Definitely paying attention to those as well.
Wow thank you! I know these videos serve as a good resource for people all year long, so I really try to dig for games big and small that people may not have heard of.
I'm definitely double dipping on Megaton Musashi. LAD Infinite wealth may end up being my goty of 2024. I loved the last yakuza game so much. And I can't wait for the rest of those jrpgs
I just can't get enough of the hd-2d art style man it's so good. I usually don't like depth of field in games but the style works so well with it. Glad so many devs are hopping on the trend
Persona 3 Reload is one I'm definitely picking up for next year I just hope it comes to Switch eventually. Luckily I have a PS4 so I can pick it up same with Metaphor ReFantazio.
Dear Gaming Shelf,🥰 Thank you for featuring our game. We will work hard to polish it and, with your support, present the best of the Vonimir continent to everyone. Best regards,Gwendy

Always look forward to these vids every year!, 2024 is gonna be another insane year 😂 everybodys pockets are screaming but it’s beautiful to see for us JRPG fans
This has made me preorder Unicorn Overlord knowing it’s from the people of 13 sentinels AND the idea of marriage system one of my favorite things of fire emblem
Early 2024 is an absolute JRPG bombardment... On top of the rumors that FromSoft might just drop the Elden Ring expansion on it's 2 year anniversary I don't know how I'm going to play all of this.
A few games are going to suffer sales wise. I don't want ANY of them to fail, but I'm curious which ones will. I know Persona is big but I feel like Granblue Fantasy Relink has so many years of built up hype that could make a big dent in Persona 3 Reload's sales.
@@TheGamingShelf I was thinking the same thing, but I have NO idea what Sega Atlus is thinking releasing such massive turn based JRPGs together in such close succession. Infinite Wealth and P3 Reload one week apart!?! I spent like 160 hours on the first Like a Dragon. Even if you binge it for just the story... this looks to be a grind considering it's looking larger than the original... For me: Infinite Wealth ---> ER Expansion(If it does happen) ----> FF7: Rebirth. Persona 3 reload and Granblue Fantasy are getting thrown in the backlog man. I've also been following Granblue for quite some time... and P3 Reload looks gorgeous. Hate to do it
Demon School aesthetic really reminds me of Persona 1 & 2, which has me interested. But nothing here is getting an early purchase until I see reviews and other coverage. And giving every online game is getting a pass cuz I really don't need another one of those (Genshin and Star Rail are MORE than enough).
Nice compilation of games to look forward too. February is a big month to look forward to along with Trails Through DayBreak and Visions of Mana. Ouch says the pocketbook.
I'm most hyped about "Sand Land" and "Visions of Mana". The former is because whatever Akira Toriyama touches tends to turn into pure gold and the latter is because there has been too long since the last Mana game. This gives me hope that maybe Breath of Fire 6 will appear one day ^^
Very nice list, but the fact more than half of the list are non-japanese, F2P games and remakes/remasters makes me a bit sad. Japanese market has indeed shrunk a lot since 00s
I hear you, but I don't think the game not being made in Japan is necessarily a bad thing. JRPG is more of a style of game these days than where the game is made.
@@TheGamingShelf yes, modern TRPGs made outside of Japan are even better, I also liked Shadow Madness from PS1 era. I just used to differentiate JRPGs and, umm, "Japanese style RPGs", even though King's Field and Dragon's Dogma are JRPGs according to this logic lol
Out of all of these my top 5 most hyped RPGs of the year are: Visions of Mana Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door Trails Through Daybreak Suikoden 1&2 Remastered Unicorn Overlord This year is an RPG FEAST and I'm so happy for all of us RPG fanatics cause it seems like everybody gets at least one game they're into :D
Persona 3 Reload, Granblue Fantasy Relink, FF7 Rebirth, Zenless Zone Zero, Eiyuden Chronicles, Unicorn Overlord, and Paper Mario are the only jrpgs on my radar for 2024. I would love to play some of the other jrpgs in this video but the reason they're not on my list is because I got other games on my list, and I just don't see myself picking up all these games. Especially with gaming becoming more and more expensive nowadays.
Sand Land feels like Blue Dragon 2.0 lol Unicorn Overlord is my biggest Hype on the list. I love the idea of the game. (Travelling in a big map, conquering towns and forming a army with logistic) I really love when rpgs have more than "kill the enemy for 50h+". Be it Social encounters, random events, castle construction, Army management, minigames, etc. It makes a game a little less repetitive.
I follow chatter petty closely and a lot of people don't even know what that game is. We're the hardcore of the hardcore here, but the wider gaming audience doesn't have a clue. The title is also horrible lol.
There's been years of hype build up for Relink and I think people are ready to dive in finally. I'm sure both are going to do very well. I'm super curious to see February's sales data though.
GBF Relink and Dragon"s Dogma 2, baybeee! I'm the opposite, Rise of Ronin will have to wait. I'm also like the only person looking forward to Suicide Squad as well. There's some other cool ones in this list I'll have to check out. I hate to say it but... I think I'm burnt out on Yakuza. I played 0-Kiwami 2 and 6 all back to back to back. Then they kept coming with Fist of The North Star, Judgment, 3-5 remastered, Lost Judgmenrt, Yakuza Like A Dragon... I barely got a break.
So much to look forward to next year! GBF Relink definitely has my attention since this will be my entry into the series and Visions of Mana also look so pretty that I can't help but get excited. Megaton Musashi I'm more cautiously excited for as it seems charmingly weird.
I don't know if it's on purpose or not, but I feel like you should precise it when a game in the list is a F2P gacha game. Zenless Zen Zero, Blue Protocol, Project Mugen and probably others I missed aren't your typicals new JRPG release. Thanks for the video.

I'm surprise a about the Sandland Game, i just read the manga and its just 1 Volume, i wonder what they did to make it a Full game
