- Video games do a lot to immerse us in their worlds. Whether it be traversing large open roads or delving into dungeons, there's nothing like getting fully drawn into the environment of a game. One of my favorite ways is by walking around the various streets and thoroughfares of towns and cities. So with this video, I will be mentioning some of my favorite towns and cities in RPGs.
Sorry for the delay on this btw. I lost the ability to record footage for a while, but we back.
Songs used in the video (in order):
Lyrical Amber - The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV
Traverse Town - Kingdom Hearts
Lazy Afternoons - Kingdom Hearts II
Under the Rotting Pizza - Final Fantasy VII
Fisherman's Horizon - Final Fantasy VIII
Altissia - Final Fantasy XV
Heimdallr, the Vermillion Capital - The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel
Afternoon in Crossbell - The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero
Suburban Town of Trista - The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel
A Royal City Engulfed by the Night - Tales of Xillia
About a Flower - Tales of Vesperia
Eternal City Mac Anu - .hack // G.U. Vol. 1: Rebirth
The Streets of Whiterun - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The Presidium - Mass Effect
V - Cyberpunk 2077
To a Glimmering Tomorrow - The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II
Had me at Twilight Town. Insta-subbed.
I also love towns in RPGs, honestly they can be make or break for me in some cases. There are dozens of us! lol. Awesome video.
I get major early normal boots era vibes from your videos. Keep going man i’m here for iy
This is a big compliment. Thank you, kindly
"Honey, get in here, Crepuscular Sky uploaded again!"
Great video my guy! Totally agree with the Midgar pick.
If I could cheat a smidge with a non-RPG, I always say that it feels like I've lived in Delfino Plaza from Mario Sunshine since I've played it so dang much. Love that hub world.
Otherwise, gotta love the countryside of Persona 4, especially when compared to the more urban environments of 3 and 5.
@@VGPreserve Thanks, man. I appreciate it. And yeah Delfino Plaza is a top tier hub area. Also, I FORGOT INABA FROM P4 GODDA-
This is my kind of content. Good stuff
Lindblum from FF9 for sure has to be a top one for me. I also completely agree with the Night City pick. Might be the most finely crafted sci-fi RPG city of all time. It's like Gotham...it's a character unto itself.
Crossbell! HELL YEAH. Hearing about it made Zero and Azure must-plays for me personally. Being a cop in that kinda place just, ugh. Chef's kiss.
Nice list. Whiterun is always a good choice but I'd have to say my favorite Elder Scrolls city isn't even from Skyrim- it's the Imperial City from Oblivion. It just has a towering, majestic quality to it.
The Imperial City is a great pick!
The KH2 intro might be my favorite game intro of all time. Possibly beat by Final Fantasy X or a few other really strong contenders, but Twilight Town is absolutely up there in my top 3 starting towns, no question.
crossbell mentioned !!!!
zero was my first trails and it felt magical
this is a cool video... These towns feel almost nostalgic, but I haven't played some of these games.
Love the Vesperia ones
Clicked on the video for Twilight Town, great pick. The contrast between Traverse -> Twilight towns then at the end of the game transitioning to The World That Never Was, really sets the tone for the themes of the game.
Have to shout-out the first walk into Stormwind city in World of Warcraft.
Some memorable ones for me:
Fletz in Legend of the Dragoon
Rhapala in Breath of Fire 3
Riften in Skyrim
Bowerstone in Fable 2
Great video. Towns in games are really cool think for me the problem is remembering the names, but I always like Wyzyma from first Witcher, Cyseal (divinity original sin), Revachol (Disco Elysium) and Rabanastre (FF12) and Taris (Star Wars: Kotor).
Some of my fondest ones are Ritardando and Tenuto Village from Eternal Sonata, and of course Cassardis from DD
I see Trails I like video. simple as.
Same
Ishgard has been one of my favourites since I first visited it, and there's a reason I got a house there as soon as possible once it opened up.
TImber from Final Fantasy VIII is the first town to come to mind when ever I think of video game locations. I totally agree about Twilight Town been a good one, KH2's best story moments take place there. My fav part of any KH game is the start of KH2. I have finished multiple Legends of Heroes games and I found most of the games to be pretty average with way too much boring dialogue and exposition that I don't personally consider good world building, but If I had to pick one it would be Laura's home town with the big lake with the castle in it. When it comes to Tales of games. I like the fact Graces starts off as kids and so the game's starting town gives you a sense of nostalgia for the place weirdly when your adults. I quit Skyrim out of boredom, all the locations in that game looked the same to me so I couldn't pick a place from it. I finished all the Mass Effect games and I honestly remember very little of them despite enjoying them alot. Cyberpunk is on my currently playing shelf with the disc in my Xbox Series X and I haven't touched it in month or the Xbox.
I'm not sure it counts as an RPG, but Palm Brinks from Dark Cloud 2 is definitely one of my favorite cities. Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2 in general have some good ones.
crossbell
I wish you would put more info on screen on what games they are from so people can actually try the games out.
