  • Do you love flying the Airbus in Microsoft Flight Simulator or X-plane 11? Maybe even the FS Labs in P3d? Well As a real world Airbus captain I sure do. However, over the years finding the right sidestick to emulate the real Airbus control stick just never showed up...until NOW. Short of spending a LOT of money on actual sidesticks that cost over $1000 USD there never has been a perfect option. Flying an Airbus simulator without a proper Airbus Sidestick is not flying an Airbus. The subtle quirks of the stick and control pressures required to manipulate the aircraft are a major player in actually flying an Airbus. I am here to try and help you enjoy those exact feelings/sensations it takes to fly a real Airbus on your home PC with the perfect flight control setup.
    www.fsprojects.eu/
    At $157 USD Enter the Flight Sim Projects A320 series Sidestick. Compatible with the Thrustmaster Warthog base, and Virpil (check website for exact compatible models) bases.
    I have tried numerous different sticks on the market ranging from Saitek, Thrustmaster TCA, winwing, VKB and logitech, and none have given me the 100% satisfaction feeling as does the fsprojects sidestick mounted on a Thrustmaster Warthog base. Dont be saddened if you are a Virpil user however, it still will feel really really good. Ill go over this part in detail on video.

    Thank you so much!!! This is exactly what I was looking for! I was leaning towards a different base than the thrust master warthog since it has a ball and cup design, but you sold me on it since it is more similar feeling to the real thing, I will just have to take your word for it. Its not like its going to be for fighter jets ike my center mounted hotas, Im hoping the wear will be significantly less consering it wont be jerked around very much since it wont be seeing any combat lol. Hopfully some sort of grease or lube can prolong its life! Im so excited to try this one out, I appreciate you!

    Completely agree about the base discussion. I have both Virpil and Warthog bases and I actually moved my Warthog to a Virpil base because I feel the Thrustmaster base is "sloppy" and less precise, especially around center. But at the same time the feeling under load is far better, 100% agree. Sad that it's such a tradeoff.

    Thank you very much, your analysis on these joysticks is very interesting, the thing that makes me hesitate to acquire it is the problem of your peripheral vision without a Chinese hat and no buttons to zoom in/out... You have a VR headset for vision or use the mouse, or others...?

    • @sundar999
      @sundar999 5 месяцев назад

      You need monitors or projectors giving you at least a 180 degrees field of vision, the only way to operate an aircraft simulator realistically, your eyesight is operating partly sideways even when looking straight ahead, there are no chinese hats in Airbus.

  • @NanaHoshi35
    @NanaHoshi35 2 года назад +2

    Thanks for making a review from a REAL PILOT's perspective. Although I have the Oldhog base, I'm really not a fan of its obsolete centering mechanism...so I want to give it a try in the future on "THE other brand" which I happen to have as well. Do you think a lighter spring, dampening from the dry clutch(I have the heavier model from the "THE other brand" that has a dry clutch system like the VKB), a shorter stick extension(not 100% sure but it appears to me that the real thing has a longer arm than any of the desktop joysticks), or any combination of the above could potentially save those cam&spring-gimbaled joysticks a bit? Also I was wondering what kind of material the fsprojects' product is using, is it metal as well? Thanks in advance!

    • @V1Sim
      @V1Sim  2 года назад +3

      For sure, I think with the right tuning you can definitely get the feeling right "in motion." My problem was that on my setup when I went to the heavier springs, and I think on my VKB i doubled up with like a heavy and light spring, when I held the stick "under load" at or near its limits I could tell that there were springs fighting me back. While yes the warthog base tech is obsolete when compared to Vkb virpil etc having that giant ball socket and single heavy spring in the base really camouflage what is going on when under load. As far as range of motion or arm the real airbus is not all that much different than the warthog really! Id have to measure it somehow to be exact but again, remember in normal day to day operations we seldom move the stick in full deflection (other than flight control checks). Keep tuning it, strive for the resistance of the warthog, without a super quick snap back to center feeling and you will be very close!
      The material seems to be a very high quality resin, which I believe the real stick is made out of as well.

    • @V1Sim

      What do you mean by tight? Stuff in motion? This could depend on mounting location, it’s critical to have the right angle/arm support to have proper leverage. And I suppose could depend on the base, perhaps spring tensions may not be 100% uniform across mass distribution. But personally I don’t feel it is too heavy at all

    Oh man. In October I sold my warthog and bought the winwing. I fly lefty and the warthog wasn’t comfortable. The winding has been great but v1 is the man as far as the A320. Oh well. I need the hat switch but this one looks good and would if been cheaper.

    You need Thrustmaster HOTAS Magnetic Base and Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog in order to have this working?

    • @V1Sim
      @V1Sim  2 года назад +1

      No, just the magnetic base. Thrustmaster branded the “thrustmaster warthog” originally as a grip AND base package. They have since re branded to “thrustmaster magnetic base” in order to just purchase the base without the stick. So if you don’t have anything yet, all you need is thrustmaster magnetic base only and the grip from fsproject

      @@V1Sim I’m in two minds about this setup or the winwing libra base and a3xx side stick. In the video you said you tried other sticks did you happen to try the winwing combo? The option hat-switch accessory is attracting me..

    • @V1Sim

      @@OzzySafa yes I have, the wingwing setup is also very good, however remember I don’t want a hat on mine. I understand fully for those who want a hatswitch tho. Also for me personally I prefer the warthog base over the Libra, however the grip is very well made and is in fact a rendition of a more “modern” 320 stick. Just my personal experience and preference is with the FSP/Thrustmaster combo. Also u may want to check, I heard FSP will be offering a hatswitch option in the future too, so if u are not set on the libra base and would consider the thrustmaster or Virpil it may be worth the wait. At the end of the day I think you will be happy with which ever option you take

      I will probably use the yoke roll as tiller now. Or perhaps stick with rudder pedal as NWS. But yes I can see if you don’t have rudder pedals or a yoke it may be more of a challenge. However Toliss offers NWS with roll command as well so theoretically you will still have a way to taxi on ground.

    What desk mount are you using to fix the base?

    • @V1Sim
      @V1Sim  2 года назад +1

      I am using the gen1 J-Pein mount. I think they have a new version now which I have not tried. However any mount should suffice, as long as you can mount the stick in a proper location as I mentioned at end of video.
