@@SagasuRunning It really helps. A suggestion, maybe to add an image with your height/weight and 5/k/10k/HM and M paces. It would make review fully complete.
So in summary, Supernova Rise for comfort and SL2 for speed. But seriously, nobody else in the running world puts as much effort as you do into making such detailed, thorough reviews here on RUclips. That's why you're my current favorite running RUclipsr. You honestly deserve 10 times the views you normally get for each video.
Sure, that is one way to think about what they each really do best. There is more overlap though, but the gist is correct. Thank you for the kind words. I'm definitely working on growth. Slow but steady. 💪🏻
I don't know how other reviewers happen to commit so much time to testing and making videos, but never find the time (or want) to clean their shoes. Kudos to you for giving the hygiene priority.
Nope, I wash my shoes after every run... the OCD is strong, plus I have very limited storage. Even made a video about it all and why (see my other comment).
Very much by design… it’s taken quite a bit to strip my videos down to as basic as they can get. Thank you for noticing. The message is what is important here. 🤙🏻
Finally, the vid to answer my thoughts on these two shoes. Thank you so much. The graphs at the end really answers it. This with Kofuzi’s vid helps me to determine what daily runner for me and Adidas really hits it out of the park with their daily runners this year.
i think you should add a column for "recovery" in your matrix. Rise = Recovery to Easy pace SL2 = Easy to Steady pace Boston/Adios Pro = Steady to Threshold Adios/Takumi = Threshold to Intervals
"recovery" is everything to the right of "easy" 🤣 I don't really distiguish easy from recovery....mostly because easy can have such a range. While 45secs off of marathon pace is so ie 3 minutes...where does recovery begin and end. Recovery is always "run at the pace my body/legs need to loosen up" and that can range drastically depending on what I'm "recovering" from.
I really enjoyed the SL2. Straight out of the box it has been super fun and snappy. The bounce really gets you going. One of the best features I noticed is the shape of the shoe really enables and promotes strengthening of the big toe specifically. I really like the triple density midsole. Almost 4 densities if you count the insole. Best value daily trainer out. Especially if you can get it for $91 like I did. 💚💚💚
I beleive the LS foam in the SL2 is the same above and below the LSP slab. However, the rubber outsole definitely contributes to the ride in this shoe...
I get it now. The SNR is on the far end of easy, slow, long runs, so that's why the SL2 is complimentary. Makes sense and I personally think it's a good idea to have a slow shoe. Add in the TS10 or AP3 for threshold and max effort and you've pretty much got all your bases covered. Damn it, now I'm tempted to pick up the TS10 too! Who knew running could be so dangerous to a man's wallet.😅
Yup…. You got the idea. Adidas has the most full featured lineup of 2024…. And the real stars of 2024 haven’t released yet for them. I’m finding I can do just about everything I need to for 5k training (what I’m doing now) between the SL2 and TS10…. I’m not running particularly long right now, 16k (10mi) max… so don’t need the SNR at the moment. Plus o have so many other shoes to work on for the channel. Once the weather cools down in mid fall I’ll spend more time again in the SNR.
Good comparison. As you say I feel the SL2 is a very different "daily trainer" to the Supernova Rise or likes of other relatively plusher ones like the Pegasus, Vomero, 1080 etc etc. Indeed in my own classifications I put the SL2 as a "tempo" shoe because it is a lot lighter and snappy but lacks support and probably not great for longish runs. Just watching Kofuzi SL2 vid and interesting he sees the Sen 10 as a "tempo" shoe despite it being used to set world road race records in the recent adidas event. And I think adidas should now be paying runners to offload stock of the first SL :)
Thats the beauty of the SL2, is it can be a tempo shoe if thats what you need it for. It's very capable. Infact the SL2, paired with a SNR, thats exactly what it becomes. I get where Kofuzi is coming from with the TS10, as a trainer it is a great tempo shoe...though it's a better workout shoe. You know I prefer to train in race shoes. Agree on the SL1 stock...there is also alot ot Duramo SLs out there as well...I'm already seeing the SL1 on sale at Adidas outlets in the US for $22 or so.
@fredriksvard2603 The SNR is better for long slow running, but the SL2 is very capable. The longest run I did in them was 16k (10mi), I’m not doing a lot of volume right now, but they were very comfortable and I’d have no concerns bringing to our for a 25-30k run.
I've been eyeing on this supernova because I'm a heel striker and I'm having a hard time deciding what shoe will I get as a beginner runner, but your review helped me a lot. Thank you.
I just did my first run in the SL2 and I found it to have surprising step-in comfort as well as not a hint of bottoming out in the forefoot. I'm a light, slow runner so I don't really get much bounce unless I really pick up the pace. So, in a sense, it's just a shoe but a really comfortable one that is probably all I need, and I have much higher stack, more rockered shoes. First impressions, just a really great value daily trainer.
I think you nailed it. As a lighter runner the LS2.0 foam is going to flex and be soft enough that you can foot engage and flex the LSP core. Additionally, since the LSP core is fairly thin, around 1cm in thickness, it will be something you can actually flex and make work as a lighter runner. Lighter runners often struggle with giant slabs of LSP as it can be firmer and takes a lot to impact.
@@kuriosites You made the right call. The B12 took alot to break in…. Once it did though it was a very good shoe. But the SL2 really does most of what it did…
Just tried both in Adidas shop. Adizero had a great midsole feel but gave me this hit on my left ankle similar to both Pegasus. Upper not great. SNR was a huge surprise first time I fell in love with a low stacked shoe. I think I’ll go with this one for daily trainer instead of Novablast 5 which I can buy later, especially at the price of 80$ that SNR retails! After trying it I watched again your excellent review (I remember that you liked it back then) for a second opinion and admired the technologies and innovation applied. Thanks! 🙏
The SNR is a great shoe, I'm still a big fan. Tons of great engineering in that one. I prefer it more for easy/cruising, it doesn't have the real top end to be a true daily trainer for me (by design) but it does everything else very well. Enjoy them!
@@SagasuRunning I have a few shoes to cover the threshold /max efforts, but for easy runs only the Nimbus 25; I was intrigued by the technology and the low stack height of this one. Plus it feels great on foot and it's suitable for travelling. On sale for 80$!
the Sl2 took 2 runs to grow on me. the first run felt a little stiff. second run felt amazing. for me this is the best non plated shoe of the year so far, superblast 2 incoming, where i had thought the Rebel V4 would be. The Rebel V4 at around mile 70 or so you can feel the bounce is gone and i think that speaks to how great lightstrike pro is. it is probably the most durable compound out there vs the rest of the market and does not get the praise because it has a slight break in period i don't think most reviewers have time for.
Agree fully on LSP, it’s just so consistently good in any application it’s in and over a long life of a shoe. It took me a while to warm up to it, but now I do think I consider it my favorite foam. Also the SL2, like all LSP shoes, does take some break-in. I found it needed about 25k to loosen up and feel natural. Much shorter than a typical LSP shoe, then again there isn’t as much LSP in it as normal. Once it does loosen up though…. It is just so very good! Definitely in the running for “best of 2024” for me. Many more ml the for me to decide but it has a very strong start.
Love your videos. I have been running in both of these shoes, and I agree on most points you discussed. My quest for a perfect, do it all, daily traininer with a modern non-EVA foam continues but SL2 comes very close, I will just not use it for long runs but anything upto 60 to 90 minutes should be fine.
Long runs, especially long slow runs, are ideal for the SNR...so I would agree not what I'd use the SL2 for, unless I had no other option (which I have plenty). The majority of running I'm doing in the summer, rarely goes over 90mins, but the SL2 feels great for that and also feels as if it can go longer if I needed it too.
Got Rise today 20 % off. First run was solid not very used to 10mm drop so it felt different for sure. Looking forward to using it more now that my mileage is ramping up.
Yup…. It does that. After 20-25k the shoe feels total broken in and conformed to you foot and VERY natural as well. Adidas really has something special here.
This: SL2 as a 1.everydday 2.fast 3.daily trainer. This is the feel I remember from SL20. I read some Adidas release back then with this philosophy. Wish I could find it ... Great comparison Chris! And aye, Boston 12 ain't no max cushion running shoe 😅 Kofuzi got some grudge with what Adidas did to the Boston line from 10 ...
To be fair...I have some grudge with Adidas for what they did to the Boston 10/11...thankfully the redeemed the line with the Boston 12....but those of us who spent alot of time in the Boston 9 will never forget (or forgive).
@@SagasuRunning I feel that generally... lots of B9 fans abandoned Boston line and tried other shoes .... and that's okay... I know I'm not the average opinion in this issue because I found good use to my B11, off what Boston 9 used to be. Who knows if people will forgive Boston 12+ and reclaim that status ...
Great video, I was looking for this comparison, because I’m looking for a daily trainer/shoes for easy runs 45 min max. I just switched my rotation from the Endorphin line to Adizero line but was missing a non plated shoe, I’m leaning towards the supernova rise after this video since I have boston 12 in my rotation thanks for sharing this it helped a lot on this decision.
I like the Boston 12 very much, and part of it is because of the spacious toebox. As a forefoot striker like yourself, I am very sensitive about how important it is to keep the big toe mobile when it comes to gait and balance. And how it can shorten your stride if it doesn't have some room to move. The narrower toebox of the SL2 does worry me a bit. But that's not why I'm passing on it. It's because I missed out on the Asics Superblast 1, and Superblast 2 is coming out soon, and I'm not going to be swayed this time because of its high price. It's way more expensive than the SL2, but it's way more vesatile, which means buying fewer shoes, so maybe I'll be able to live with the price. How does the Superblast perform when it comes to transition for someone who lands on the ball of their foot?
I don't know about the SB2 being more versatile. I will be covering it but have some reservations on what I've been reading about it. Even if it is as good as the SB1...it's still way too much shoe for workouts and all out running. The SL2 is a great blend of many things. Agree on toe mobility, it's very important, but I'm not finding the toe box of the SL2 to be overly constricting. It's definitely more roomy than the toe box on the SB1 (which I liked, but it's closer to a race fit). Let's see what comes with the SB2, but it's a very different class from this shoe. However the B12 and SB1 are interchangable.
Sure, it will do that well....but between the two shoes you have the ES4 may be the better option, especially for a full marathon. While the foams are better in the SL2, you'll likely appreciate the support of the plate (even as flexible as it is) later in the race.
I bought the Supernova Rise, but had to return them. My forefoot is weird. It's not wide, but the shape must be strange because the SR felt confining and uncomfortable to the top of my foot, especially my left one. I felt the exact same confinement with the Hoka Clifton 9. I had the SL before and it felt ok, even though you mention the SL is more restrictive. Brooks feel the best to me. I just ordered the Hyperion Max 2.
Interesting. Sounds like you have a very high volume left foot. I also have high volume feet and found the SNR upper very accommodating and generous. Much more the the SL1. It makes sense that Brooks work for you. They design their shoes with a very straight last and extremely voluminous uppers in order to accommodate any type of orthotic or custom insole. Sounds like they are ideal for your left foot and hopefully they feel ok on your right foot.
Hi! Thank you for the review I run 2 times per week 5-15km each run. My pace is 4:50 to 5:30min/km. Which do you think is better for me? I just want to add that I've had some ankle sprains, but never running.
The Supernova series. You may even want to look at the Supernova Solution, it has a little more cushion and stability. Will protect those ankles a little bit more.
I use Boston 12 for my easy and long runs, Takumi Sen 8/9/10 for threshold and intervals and AP3 for race day. I think that in my rotation SL2 is redundant and I should go for SNR…
Very suitable for non-carbon runners like me for daily beater. I've seen a video of Ethiopian runners doing 20 miler long runs in shoes like the Pegasus 35 and other non carbon shoes like these and it motivate me like hell 😂.
Professional review as always 👌🏽. Maybe it is possible to share a large scale heat map (“the sagasu scale”) with all of the shoes? It can also divided into 3 rotation categories like: upper table is for upper plate race shoe, lower section for low plate and mid section compatible for both?
MetaEndurance does this now for different classes. Check their instagram. I've considered something like this, maybe at year end with the "best of" content.
yes!! just what needed. as i was set on the supernova when u compared vs the peg 41. but ur SL2 revieW sort of confused me. guess u read my mind. lets get it
The Peg41 is the classic feel, the SL2 is a performance feel, the SNR is a plush and smooth feel...it depends on what you are looking for in a trainer.
@@SagasuRunning thx. ive decided on both SL2 and SNR. SIDE THOUGHT. IM FROM AFRICA (ZAMBIA) WHEN I DECIDED TO TAKE RUNNING SERIOUS, I NEVER KNEW THE FOOTWARE WOULD BE THIS EXPENSIVE. ANYWAY, THIS CONFIRMS I ACTUALLY LOVE RUNNING! LOL
Nope, it a tighter fit for my foot. Definitely a narrower last than the AP3 and A8 (and B12 for my foot, it for me the same as the bother two). Overall the SL2 has a better fit than the B12. But different than the A8 and AP3.
Nice comparison! So I was wondering... maybe, consedireng a range from 4:30 to 5:10/km for base and long runs, leaving out tempo, threshold and repetitions, the SL2 could be better for 4:30 to 4:45 and the Rise for 4:45 and slower paces? Or maybe in this case the SL2 doesn't make sense and just make all the base and long runs in the Rise?
My easy/long range is about 4:50/km to 5:20/km currently (and slower is a jog due to heat or dead legs). The SL2 feels VERY good and locked in around 5:00/km and the SNR feels the same around 5:15/km. So I think your ranges are spot on.
Great comparison review! I’m doing alot of walking recently with my SL1. Comparing SL2 and Rise, which one of these better for 11-12” pace incline walking? Thank you…
Honestly, the Supernova series…. Possibly not even the Rise. Take a look at the Supernova Stride, which is the entry level/budget shoe in the Supernova family…. But it is a firmer shoe with a puck of Dreamstrike+ in the forefoot, similar in feel to the SL1 but with a better upper, wider contact patch and better fit. It’s not a great runner…. But it is an excellent walking shoe. The Supernova Solution, the mild stability option in the Supernova family might also be a good option for walking as it is some built into guidance that will benefit a heel to toe walking stride.
Thank you for the detailed review, It must be challenging to run outdoor in Taipei these days due to the heat, same here in Hong Kong :) How you compare the SL2 and the Boston12? Seems they have lot of features in common except the rods in Boston 12
The SL2 and B12 do similar things and have alot of overlap. Obviously one is played and the other is not. I’d say the SL2 does easy running better and the B12 does longer runs + marathon pace better (I though the SL2 is no slouch). As I said, now in 2024, with the SL2 in the market, the vast majority of use cases people where using the B12 for last year are better suited in the SL2. Yes, Taipei summer running is rough…. Though I think HK is a little hotter still.
I find myself in a bit of a dilemma, I am going to start running, so my coach recommends me the SNR , I just found a veery good price on the SL2, and idk, I mean I would love both, but I can't afford the two of them Do you think would it be a good fit in the end to go straight for the SL2? THANKS!! So glad that I found this account! greeting from Spain
I only just noticed this but your performance matrix bars extend off to the right beyond 'slow'. Is that intentional, indicating the shoes' suitability as casual/lifestyle shoes?
Vomero 17 и Supernova Rise делают похожие вещи, поэтому я бы сказал, что Adizero SL2 для более быстрого ежедневного трианкера, чем тот, что у вас есть. Если только вы не пронатируете.
Good evening. Thanks for your reply I would like to expand a bit on your question and your advice. She started running more actively and experimenting with sneakers. I'm training for a half marathon. I have a Vomero 17, a Nimbus 25 and today I bought and tested an Adizero SL2. Vomero 17 - soft, stable, I like them for easy runs. At first I was excited about the Nimbus 25, but now they seem bulky and very slow. SL2 is excellent: today the pace has improved, and the speed and heart rate have not increased. My question is, should I replace the Nimbus 25 with something else for slow recovery? Are they not needed at all with the Vomero 17? And to wrap things up, what sneakers would you recommend for my collection? I will be very grateful.
The V17 is a great recovery shoe. I don’t think you need another. The SL2 is also soft enough for easy recovery runs. Between those two you are covered.
What would be best for a person who is obese, weighing 114kg? I'm going to start exercising now, I was sedentary and for now I can only walk for weight reasons. So I wanted a sneaker that could help me at the beginning of my walk and have good cushioning and then when I can run it would also be good. Which would you recommend for my case?
Honestly, nether of these. I’d look at Brooks. Specially the Ghost Max 2 or Glycerine Max. Both will support your and your foot much better and help you transition into a more active lifestyle.
The SNR is an excellent long run shoe, possibly one of the best of 2024, its not really only a daily trainer. As long as you aren't trying to race a marathon fast, I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Hey Chris, thank you for your videos. It is always interesting to hear your perspective on shoes and in particular on adidas shoes since I am admittedly somewhat of a adidas runner. But I am having difficulty coming to grasp with one thing you said last video and maybe you could help clarify it for me: you said that you would not recommed the Boston 12 as a daily trainer because it has a plate. However, my thinking is that the Boston 12 has glassfibre rods and not a carbonfibre plate and the shoe is rather flexible through the length and also torsion-wise and also way more flexible than the adizero sl that I own. So if not the flexibility what would cause the hesitation on your part to use the Boston 12 as a daily trainer. Sorry for the rather long comment but this question really stuck with me and I would love to hear your thoughts to what I might have misunderstood or neglected to consider. Looking forward to hearing your response.
I’ve actually talked about this quite a bit on this channel. I’m never going to subscribe to daily training in a plated shoe, of any type, daily. In my mind (and experience) you loose too foot strength building base mechanics that you will never get in a plated shoe. Flexibility in a daily shoe, torsional and over the length of your foot is vital to development strong feet. Strong feet are the core of your running mechanics. This is also why I don’t recommend running in max stack and overly cushioned shoes daily either…. Combine both and it’s event worst. This isn’t to say I don’t recommend training in a plated shoe or a max cushion shoe in addition to a non plated and flexible daily trainer…. I do often…. But in that 80/20 mindset of training I’m going to make sure 80% of my running is in a non-plated, flexible, neutral and low(er) stack shoe to maximize the training effect of all the effort. I’ll pull out a plated shoe for key workouts and a max cushioned shoe when my legs need a little more TLC. My larger point in my SL2 initial impressions video was that due to the SL1 not being that great last year, the Boston 12 became the default “daily trainer” in the Adizero range. The additional “super trainer” hype only added to it. The SL2 is a MUCH better shoe than the SL1 (which was fine but not up to par for Adizero) and much more flexible overall. So a lot of what people did in the B12 last season, would be better done now on the SL2, reserving the B12 for tempo or threshold workouts (which actually the SL2 does very well now). I’m a fan of the B12, but it’s not a daily shoe nor did Adidas intend it to be used as such.
@@SagasuRunning wow thank you for your fast reply! so I don't want to come across as wanting to split hairs, but I really don't follow that logic: First of all the Boston 12 in particular is more flexible than a lot of "designated daily trainers", so the range of motion that your feet go through cannot be a problem? Secondly, if you say that because of the glass fibre rods the shoe bends back too strongly causing your feet to require less strength and therefore stimulating less strength gains in your feet, I find the problematic too because who says that you don't just run a little faster evening out that effect subconciously? As an anology since you have a background as a cyclist, I think you can't say that only because your bike is lighter (because maybe it has carbonfibre material in it) you work out less hard because you then probably just ride faster right? Just because the shoe has glass fibre rods in it and the energy return is higher, doesn't mean that in training I put less force into that shoe by running a bit faster? So in essence, if the plate or rods alter your mechanics or range of motion I clearly see the issue if you use it as a daily trainer, but if it is just the higher energy return, the rods are not the specifically the problem but rather that the shoe is "too fast", which I fail to see as a problem. Sorry but I really just want to pinpoint the problem, before I ditch my favourite shoe as a daily trainer ;D
I’m m honestly not sure why people say the B12 is flexible. It’s one of the least flexible shoes, that’s not carbon plated, the I own. The Endorphin Speed 4 is a flexible plated shoe, even that is still not recommend as a daily shoe. Sue here glass fiber rods are not carbon fiber…. Even also to split hairs…. Rods are not a plate. One of the benefits of the rod design (and it has drawbacks too) is you benefit from the longitudinal stiffness but allow some torsional flex. That gives the Adizero shoes a unique ride that is hard to match in a plated shoe. Even in the AP3…. If a plated shoe subconsciously helps you run faster, great… I want that AND the mechanical advantage of a plate for racing and key workouts. But I don’t want it daily. I want to build foot and leg strength. I don’t follow the cycling analogy. I know form first hand experience of if I train too much in a plated or rodded shoe…. I loose foot strength, toe flexibility l, Achilles flexibility and feel Plantar Fasciitis coming on. Back in NYC I ran with multiple people who coach who also dealt with their athletes struggling with the same thing in the early days of plated shoes… when everyone wanted to run in them all the time. Also…. To qualify a “flexible” shoe…. I consider the Nike Streakfly, Adidas Supernova Rise and the Nike Pegasus 41 all “flexible”. If running in a plated shoe daily is your thing… cool. I’ll never recommend it to anyone who asks and will always comment on how people should train in non plated shoes more often. As an example. Pick a no plated shoe of your choice, the the SL2 will be the best option here, and run in it for a month…. Swapping it out for you B12. After hat month…. Tell me you don’t notice a massive change in your running…. And then also tell me about how your feet and lower legs suffered about 10 days into the experiment as your body learned to compensate for the lack of strength form all the plated shoe running. I’m confident you’ll feel that. - I actually went back through your comment and have a few more points. We agree on range of motion…. But the B12 is a very stiff shoe (compared to a Supernova Rise or the SL2). It’s definitely giving (and limiting) more propulsion. It’s likely why you don’t like running in a non plated shoe anymore. Another example….I did 1k of 4:14/k pace in the SL2 yesterday…. Which was SIGNIFICANTLY harder than the 1k of 4:14/k pace I did in the TS10 this morning. My bpm was 12 higher in the SL2, my watts were 14w lower in the SL2 and my LOE was 2-3 levels higher. The TS10 has the same rods as the B12 AND is more flexible due to the lower stack height and lack of the EVA layer to stiffen the shoe…. There is m obvious difference between the shoes that I can see in the data AND feel. Do I enjoy training in the TS10…. Yup. But I know I’m working harder and getting more benefit from training in the SL2…. Which makes when I put on the TS10 all that much more fun. I’m actually working on a video about this (for the end of July). More running efficiency in plated shoes…. But my “control” shoe will be the SL2… so I’ll get into this more then.
Thanks for Tim and Sagasu reply. I recall that I like the SL1 relatively stable feel initially when I tried and so decided to buy them. I have Adios 6 and Takumi Sen 8 and want to add a daily trainer in the middle.
Not true actually. Adidas has just relabeled it as Lightstrike. It’s the same foam as whats I. the heel of the Boston 12. Adidas is going through a foam renaming thing currently…
Love the heatmap graphs. Really helps visualize where each shoe leans.
Graphics for life! 📈
@@SagasuRunning It really helps. A suggestion, maybe to add an image with your height/weight and 5/k/10k/HM and M paces. It would make review fully complete.
Noted… I do try to include this in data videos. I’ll have one of those in July so I’ll incorporate this suggestion in some form.

How to Wash Running Shoes. ruclips.net/video/Nrf_zSt4BVI/видео.html
👍🏻
Nope, I wash my shoes after every run... the OCD is strong, plus I have very limited storage. Even made a video about it all and why (see my other comment).
💪🏻
The Supernova Prima and SL2 combo as my daily trainer rotation is working out very well for me highly recommend it as a bigger forefoot striker
Prima is the way to go in this use case. One of the key use cases it was designed for.
Your videos are plain jane, no fancy lighing or anything but the info and the graphs for the use of the shoes are top tier. I do enjoy your reviews.
I'm glad this helped. I fully agree, Adidas is really nailing the trainer space right now. They have all of the options at the moment.
i think you should add a column for "recovery" in your matrix.
Rise = Recovery to Easy pace
SL2 = Easy to Steady pace
Boston/Adios Pro = Steady to Threshold
Adios/Takumi = Threshold to Intervals
"recovery" is everything to the right of "easy" 🤣
I don't really distiguish easy from recovery....mostly because easy can have such a range.
Man, this review is superb! Thank you so much
Thank you for watching. 🤙🏻
TS10 as a tempo run is for superhuman racers lol
What is a Short distante racer if TS10 ain't? Gotta do a Takumi Evo then lol
The TS10 is great for tempo running. I wouldn't have said that about the TS8/9 though. The TS10 is a better workout shoe though...max effort paces.
I expect the sl2 to be great for long runs. I get mine tomorrow, we'll see.
@fredriksvard2603 The SNR is better for long slow running, but the SL2 is very capable. The longest run I did in them was 16k (10mi), I’m not doing a lot of volume right now, but they were very comfortable and I’d have no concerns bringing to our for a 25-30k run.
Thank you for sharing your experience, I think I will buy both!
This is the way. Enjoy them both. 🤙🏻
I've been eyeing on this supernova because I'm a heel striker and I'm having a hard time deciding what shoe will I get as a beginner runner, but your review helped me a lot. Thank you.
I’m glad it helped and I hope they work out for you. Excellent shoes! 🤙🏻
@@SagasuRunningOne of the reasons I passed on the Boston 12. SL2 is really comfortable though.
Enjoy them!
@@SagasuRunning Truly daily trainer? You mean more suitable towards threshold spectrum?
No, it’s more suitable to easy and steady…. It’s near perfection for that. It falls off fast in Threshold and max effort.
@@SagasuRunning I have a few shoes to cover the threshold /max efforts, but for easy runs only the Nimbus 25; I was intrigued by the technology and the low stack height of this one. Plus it feels great on foot and it's suitable for travelling. On sale for 80$!
@yiann1sk Then you got the perfect shoe. It’s really great. The foam is something special too. Outstanding price as well!
the Sl2 took 2 runs to grow on me. the first run felt a little stiff. second run felt amazing. for me this is the best non plated shoe of the year so far, superblast 2 incoming, where i had thought the Rebel V4 would be.
Adidas SL2 weight 232 both shoes! Size UK 8.5. Great quality.
Adidas definitely does quality control well. They have been putting out alot of quality lately!
Great review very informative
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching. 🤙🏻
Super insightful as always. Thanks for the video
Thank you for watching! 🤙🏻
Thanks to your video, I bought a Sl2 for long distance easy running. really looking forward to it 😂
Enjoy them. They are a great shoe! 🤙🏻
While I rarely notice a 10mm drop as an issue, I will say that as the SNR breaks in and molds to your foot, it does feel less and less.
@@SagasuRunning i cant even explain how good my 2nd run felt. Felt like the foam conformed to my foot.
And aye, Boston 12 ain't no max cushion running shoe 😅
Kofuzi got some grudge with what Adidas did to the Boston line from 10 ...
To be fair...I have some grudge with Adidas for what they did to the Boston 10/11...thankfully the redeemed the line with the Boston 12....but those of us who spent alot of time in the Boston 9 will never forget (or forgive).
I think SL2 is like the real Boston 10 😮😮
@hfurbano not a good comparison…. Not at all. Nothing should ever be compared to the B10. The B10 is one of the worst shoes made in the past 10 years…
@@SagasuRunning I feel that generally... lots of B9 fans abandoned Boston line and tried other shoes .... and that's okay...
I know I'm not the average opinion in this issue because I found good use to my B11, off what Boston 9 used to be.
Who knows if people will forgive Boston 12+ and reclaim that status ...
The B12 redeemed the line. But that still doesn’t justify what they did to the B10. 🤬
What a great video mate!
Thank you for watching! 🤙🏻
Excellent video sir, it's as if you're a sports scientist of sorts
Thank you. I’m just a product designer who can deconstruct design and engineering choices and why….
If it's solely for easy runs, then yes...Supernova Rise all the way. Paired with the B12 for tempo/fast and a AP3 for race you have it covered.
@@SagasuRunning amazing! Great work on your videos, they are truly helpful!
@talesdemileto9399 I’m happy to hear this!
Another epic shoe(t) out, sir.
This one really gets in the weeds. Alot to cover here!
@@SagasuRunning But it's in the weeds where we learn the details.
@Wings_nut There are many here
I like the Boston 12 very much, and part of it is because of the spacious toebox.
Can I use SL2 , marathon pace 1km/5:30? I’m 165/57 kg runner. I find my first full course mate. I have sl2, endorphin speed4.
Perfect.
And if we put aside the ankle sprains?
Supernova Rise….
Ok! Thank you for your help!
I use Boston 12 for my easy and long runs, Takumi Sen 8/9/10 for threshold and intervals and AP3 for race day. I think that in my rotation SL2 is redundant and I should go for SNR…
I would agree. You need a shoe for easy running… that is the SNR.
@@SagasuRunning my last easy running specific shoe was Invincible 1 and I finished hating it. 😩
@hfurbano to be fair the I1 was fun for about 30k then the charm wore off and it was a slog after that….
Very suitable for non-carbon runners like me for daily beater. I've seen a video of Ethiopian runners doing 20 miler long runs in shoes like the Pegasus 35 and other non carbon shoes like these and it motivate me like hell 😂.
Yup, the SL2 is a great basic performance option. I’m a Peg 41 runner myself…. But yes, basic is best often for training.
Briefly described my concept is clear
?
LOL
Running certainly CAN be expensive…. But be happy you don’t pick up cycling. It makes running look very very cheap.
Please tell me that the midfoot in the SL2 is wider than the Boston 12? I love the fit of my Pro 3 and Adios 8.
Nope, it a tighter fit for my foot. Definitely a narrower last than the AP3 and A8 (and B12 for my foot, it for me the same as the bother two). Overall the SL2 has a better fit than the B12. But different than the A8 and AP3.
@i.p.2088 Is that the wide version of the Adios 8 as surprised the regular width one works for you given your usual comments about having a wide foot.
I find the mid foot of the SL2 more narrow than the Boston 12… SL2 mid foot is super narrow.
I find the Adios 8 wide.. Actually went down half a size.. Maybe I bought the wide without knowing it..? @@TimGrose
@i.p2088 the A8 did use the wider last that the AP3 has… it was a wide shoe, not just for Adidas.
Thank you for the detailed review, It must be challenging to run outdoor in Taipei these days due to the heat, same here in Hong Kong :)
How you compare the SL2 and the Boston12? Seems they have lot of features in common except the rods in Boston 12
The SL2 and B12 do similar things and have alot of overlap. Obviously one is played and the other is not. I’d say the SL2 does easy running better and the B12 does longer runs + marathon pace better (I though the SL2 is no slouch).
As I said, now in 2024, with the SL2 in the market, the vast majority of use cases people where using the B12 for last year are better suited in the SL2.
Yes, Taipei summer running is rough…. Though I think HK is a little hotter still.
I find myself in a bit of a dilemma, I am going to start running, so my coach recommends me the SNR , I just found a veery good price on the SL2, and idk, I mean I would love both, but I can't afford the two of them
Do you think would it be a good fit in the end to go straight for the SL2? THANKS!!
So glad that I found this account! greeting from Spain
Listen to your coach and stick with the SNR. It's actually a great shoe to start running in.
I only just noticed this but your performance matrix bars extend off to the right beyond 'slow'. Is that intentional, indicating the shoes' suitability as casual/lifestyle shoes?
No, it means it does easy running well and/or can be used for recovery runs. Nothing casual.
Both will support your and your foot much better and help you transition into a more active lifestyle.
can you use the supernova rise in half marathon or even a marathon ? or its just a daily trainer and not advisable for long runs.
@@SagasuRunning wow thank you for your fast reply! so I don't want to come across as wanting to split hairs, but I really don't follow that logic:
First of all the Boston 12 in particular is more flexible than a lot of "designated daily trainers", so the range of motion that your feet go through cannot be a problem?
-
I actually went back through your comment and have a few more points.
But my “control” shoe will be the SL2… so I’ll get into this more then.
my fav part is here: 20:45

Is supernova rise good for standing all day at work
It would be for me...not sure for you. It is a soft foam but low stack compared to many other shoes.
Just bought SL1 at $58 in Amazon right 1 week before SL2 is released and now I have some regret. Can anyone share SL1’s pro points compared to SL2 ? 😢
it is a lot firmer and so felt more "stable"
It's durable like a tank as well.
Agree with this.
Thanks for Tim and Sagasu reply. I recall that I like the SL1 relatively stable feel initially when I tried and so decided to buy them. I have Adios 6 and Takumi Sen 8 and want to add a daily trainer in the middle.

No contest. SNR… All. The. Way.
Can you run more than 18 miles per week on Adizero SL 2?
Definitely…
@@SagasuRunning How did your feet feel after running longer than 13 miles using these shoes?
I’m not sure I follow you…. This shoe will be fine for hundreds of miles. It won’t change much after an initial break-in period of 20-30miles.
Adidas adizero sl or adidas supernova rise, for fast and comfort
SL2 for fast… Supernova Rise for cruising comfort.
SL2 only have LightStrike and not 2.0
Not true actually. Adidas has just relabeled it as Lightstrike. It’s the same foam as whats I. the heel of the Boston 12. Adidas is going through a foam renaming thing currently…
