I definitely don't need it but my finger is hovering over that 'Pay Now' button for the Novablast 5. I've always liked the Novablast line and from what I've heard it seems I'll continue to like it. Also like the colourway you have there Edd. Nice comparion reviews. Thanks Edd and have a great day.
On paper, Evo SL is the first reasonably-priced shoe with over-35mm full PEBA-like midsole since Endorphin Speed. I hope it is also a nice shoe as the old ES.
Lovely stuff Edd. I've yet to run in the Evo SL and the Novablast 5, hoping to get out in them this week. Unsurprisingly I wasn't keen on taking them out in the shocking weather we had at the weekend.
Commented on a previous video about the SL2 i seen your post about it and bought it straight away very very good shoe and can't wait to put more miles in them....thanks for the heads up for them being available on sportshoes 🙌
Bought the SL2 from StartFitness during the recent sales, only £79. Haven't run in them yet but they feel great walking round the house so I have that to look forward to. Also got the Puma Velocity Nitro 2 for £54, shame they cane up short and will have to go back - fingers crossed they have enough stock for a size up exchange.
Hi Ed. I did swap the insole out and it was a whole world of difference. Only done two 10ks in it this week, but I think it's going to be a great shoe. I feel like the foam is going to bed in nicely like the AP3. I now use the Rebels for recovery only really - still lots of squash, but agree it doesn't give as much back. Keep up the good, honest work.
Edd - Thanks for your review vs several popular shoes. As far as you possibly putting more rubber on the bottom of the Evo SL, maybe some English Toffee would be more fitting. I give it to you Brits - English Toffee is delicious, and I got a large can of it for Christmas and am really enjoying it.
NB5 for me. Can buy two at 105 US once a month, can’t beat that, even at full price I think it’s a steal for its overall performance and durability currently in the market.
I bought the Novablast 5s today and slipped around some on my very first run. That was on snow and ice though, not convinced anything short of metal studs would've helped. I don't hold it against them, lovely shoes.
Great comparison Edd- giving the people what they want! First run in my Evo SLs today, 11 miles including 3x10 mins @ LT pace straight out the box. Early impressions are similar to yours, not sure these live up to the hype at all. Felt ok at faster paces but also somewhat unstable and slightly 'wild' (not in a good way!) Initial thought is the Lightstrike Pro foam needs some kind of stabilising element, either rods or a firmer carrier foam, to propel you forward rather than give uncontrolled bounce. Could see these causing me hip or IT band problems if I run too much in them. Laces and tongue are terrible too, gave me a nasty case of lace-bite towards the end of the run. Still, for the £110 I paid they seem like they'll fulfill the role I had in mind, if I can sort that out: a 'do-it-all' shoe for occasional workouts. Given the RRP, I guess in hindsight we shouldn't have expected too much. They won't even have a future as a "lifestyle" shoe given the canal towpath I ran on today has soiled that gleaming white upper already! 🤣 🤣
Always wondered Edd where do u sell your 'unwanted' trainers? I always like to garb a few bargains of the used variety and our size feet seem to never pop up. Keep up the quality vids 🎉
Fair comparisons. What’s wrong with the insole on the EVO SL and SL2? Seems similar to other Adizero shoes to me, so wondering if it’s too thick, too thin, or just a different material?
Didn't keept it because i got the mach x2 but for what i got the pegasus plus (around 110€) it seemed very good and as Ed says, the fit was wonderful. Almost sock like
i have the pegasus plus and they gave me massive blisters after 30km (1000km with the 40 and never had a problem) i bought the novablast 5 and no problem so far... Pegasus are a bit harder and closer to the ground, the Novablast are more cushoned and a bit higher.
Hi, Can you please guide me, I need your opinion I am planning to run my first ever marathon in this shoe, Do you recommend this EVO SL keeping in mind its my first marathon I am not a fast runner hoping to get it done in 4.5 to 5 hrs. I have never used Adidas shoes before and I am only considering this shoe because of its budget friendly price and I hear it is a nice shoe and if not this one can you suggest me some other shoe in this price range. Thanks a bunch in advance for your valuable input it will means a lot to me.
Hi ed I like wider shoe so adidas are a no no from me.. I LOVE the novablast 4..am enjoying mizuno rebellion 2.. Also the Mach 4 an amazing shoe.. I think Mac, and Novablast are my shoes.. I’m now used to rebellion 2 and I’m LOVING them(got them CHEAP😀) Thanks buddy
The ls pro is the same as all the other Adizero shoes. Denser but soft with more return. The ff blast max is very cushioned but not needing the break in miles
@@EDDBUD would it work if i use novablast 4 for long runs and tempo runs at the same time, i just started on running and so far i use the zoom fly 6 for tempos and races and the winflo 11 for easy runs and long runs but when i run long in the winflo, it is somewhat very uncomfortable, i want to find a budget shoe to replace zoom fly 6 for tempo runs and save zoom fly for races only while also replacing winflo for long runs, do you think novablast 4 is a good choice for that?
Tried all except Nike Pegasus. Rebel v4 and SL2 abit tight so would say half size up. Evo SL foam is good but wish it was thicker Lightstrike Pro foam. Very nimble
Between the NB5 and Evo SL which would you recommend if I dont plan on running any marathons but just improve my 5k and 10k runs. I run just to be in shape and not to do races or anything like that.
No surprises in your analysis. I have to agree with you although I don’t own a pair of the Evo SL’s as yet. I want a pair of them just for casual wear because I think they look good in the white and black colors. I’ve really lowered my expectations for the EVO SL after watching many different reviews. Not to say it’s a bad shoe but it appears to be less than the hype would lead us to believe. I do love me some Lightstrike Pro however.
The nb5 isn't a super trainer, just a bog standard daily trainer now. Mach 6 would be an interesting comparison, I see it more like what the novablast used to be.
@southboy18 i saw it as a daily trainer which was also versatile enough to do faster stuff, although the 4 didn't really meet that criteria and the 5 is softer still, so I won't be buying it. Personal choice, everyone is different.
I really don't think the Evo Sl is in any different category than the Rebel, novablast, Pegasus plus, or Mach 6 really. Light weight up tempo daily trainers. Definitely not super trainers

SL2 is an absolute bargain! Saw it for £65 recently.
"Pulse Ultra - Build your cages" during a park run this time a year really sets the mood.

That weekend was terrible. Though managed a good 16 miles so can complain!
Banger of a comparison. Ed covers everything on 4 shoes in 1 Complete Review!
Much appreciated!

SL2 all the way. Did the long run in them today and they disappeared on foot, which is as big a compliment you can give a shoe
A real banger and for such a good price

Great shoe review!
That Olympic SL2 colourway is so rare to find. Wish they remanufacture it before the next iteration comes out. Doubt it though ...
Great vid Ed
Glad you enjoyed it
I have all except the Evo SL and like them all. Still waiting to get my hands on the Evo SL to do my own comparison. Keep up the great work
I have a pair of Rebel 4s and they are not bad, but if New Balance offered me a swap for a new pair of Rebel 2s I wouldn’t hesitate in changing them.
Dankeschön! I am still happy with my SL 2 🙂
Have the Adidas adizero adios pro 4 are releast in the uk 🇬🇧?
Because in Mexico is releast in the ekiden colorway.
January I believe
Ok
Everyone has always complained about grip on the Novablast line, I have 710km on my NB3’s and have never slipped in any conditions.

Thin and slippery top to the insole. Not ideal

What insole recommendations do people have for the sl2?
Used one from an earlier Adios model. Seems to work

Bit soft and lacking stability for me for a marathon distance. The zoom fly 6 might be a good shout or the novablast

I don't notice the weight on the Pegasus Plus at all. It feels quite nimble to me.
Would the Novablast 5 work for a 56km road ultra?
Don’t see why not
Could you talk more about the foams between FF Blast Max vs Light strike Pro please. Such as softness, rebounce, the ride ect...
The ls pro is the same as all the other Adizero shoes. Denser but soft with more return. The ff blast max is very cushioned but not needing the break in miles
@EDDBUD sounds like the LST is a better foam, but interestingly you picked the Novablast 5 over the Evo SL...
Does this mean the demise of the Adios as a budget shoe ? As I like the adios for midweek run club
The Adios update is incoming
Adidas should make a "eddbud edition" with better laces and more rubber. Better than the Pharrell collab 😂
🤣👍🏼
A cadburys cream egg comparison is insane 😂 😂
Really fancy one of those right now

It’s a draw only here. All the stock is gone already
