Great video and love the casual feedback on the ride. If you ever have a chance it would be great to do a highway comparison between the Tacoma, 4 Runner and Landcruiser. Super interested in the ride and particularly noise level.
I would love to see you dig into ground clearance, it seems really low based on specs, but perhaps that’s just some body work hanging down. Then look at cost and complexity of mods to add clearance through larger tires. Finally, is there room for a larger gas tank? I hate being in the middle of the desert watching the gauge drop from 1/2 to 1/4…😅 Look forward to seeing what you do with the new vehicles!
For nearly the same price point I would take the lexus. Passing is essential for me and the twin turbo 6 gets up and goes. How is that hybrid for passing power 50-70 (90)? I just don't know how useful the electric setup is for higher speeds?
Hi Jon, I went to Toyota's website and did a dimensions comparison of the 2023 4Runner to the 2024 Land Cruiser. According to the numbers, the 2024 Land Cruiser interior passenger space is smaller than the 5th Gen 4Runner. In terms of headroom, legroom, shoulder room, the 5th Gen 4Runner is bigger. Did you get a sense or feel that the interior passenger space is smaller in the new LC compared to the 5th Gen 4Runner?
ima go with 4th Gen Tacoma for all. I personally enjoy driving a truck off road more than an SUV. Also the power the new 2.4L powertrain is a bit more enjoyable on road as well. Just me personally.
LC looks great and beautiful, but i still don't understand why is so expensive? I know it meant for last long. And hows it different from 6gem 4runner? Fingercross that 6gen 4 runner wont skyrocket the price
Jon please help me my local dealer has first edition Land Cruiser and one normal Land Cruiser. Which is better trim ? One has round retro lights am I missing something ? Trying out deposit down.
Options wise they are close, especially if the Land Cruiser is a premium. Check Toyotas site for the build configurator. You can get every single option selected there to tell the differences. First editon has some extra bits too for branding.
I would go for the 1st Edition since they will hold value better and I like the round headlights better. I really like the Ventilated Seats and the 1958 trim doesn’t have the seats but the round headlights.
Long term LC will probably hold value better since I can’t see it lasting long being sandwiched between 4Runner (value) and GX (looks) in its current configuration. It needs something more distinguishable like removable tops, 2 door version, engine options or manual for it to make sense imho.
Look, I have no doubt that the LC and 4Runner will be great and reliable as their previous gen, but I feel that the LC has lost its identity with the 4Runner. The GX is the way to go, still standing out separately from the other two.
How would it be with passing deep deep water with the electric motor pretty suerte @Toyota though it out but still got electricity going all around LC never know be that lucky person in the middle of the outdoor hybrid chose take a dump makes you wanna think that twin turbo V6 will be better choice🤔🤔🤔🤷🏽♂️guessing... really like that 4runner but worse case scenario make you want choice that Twin turbo V6🤤🤙🏽🤙🏽🥶🥶
It’s a mechanical hybrid system in between the engine and transmission. So that doesn’t matter. But regardless I wouldn’t take any vehicle in high water
Untamed was right, Toyota pays for 5 star hotels and feeds you guy well to say great things about their vehicles-4 cylinder turbo motors and batteries and sky high prices ,Toyota is losing some of their loyal customers. Making their vehicles cheaper and charging more money for them its sad
8.7" of ground clearance is not enough for any serious off-roading. Should have minimum of 10" in. my opinion. Wish Toyota provided an option from the factory for this.
THIS IS THE PRADO SO IT IS NOT A PROPER LANDCRUISER. THIS HAS BEEN INTRODUCED TO EUROPE ALREADY AND IT IS LANDCRUISER PRADO. THE 6TH GEN 4RUNNER SHOLD BE IDENTICAL TO THIS IN MANY WAYS. WONDER WHAT THE PRICE OF A 6TH GEN 4RUNNER IS.
8.7 inches of ground clearance that equals every Subaru unless you’re talking a wilderness edition & that’s 9.5 inches of clearance but yet this is geared towards off roading, ummm 🤔
@@TRDJon What’s going to happen is the 2025 4Runner TRD & Trailhunter will leave the Land Cruiser in the dust in sales. You can’t have an off worthy SUV that is beat by a Subaru. The Land Cruiser is all looks unlike the new upcoming 4Runner

@@TRDJon no. They gave us a Prado except took that part of the name off. It’s light duty compared to a 200/300 series. They didn’t magically make a new version of the Land Cruiser 30k cheaper. I get what you’re saying that it’s what replaced the 200, but they shouldn’t have called it a Land Cruiser without Prado at the end of the name. Toyota just thinks we’re stupid Americans who will buy it. And they’re right, it will probably sell very well.

As I told Kirk yesterday, I have wanted you two to colab. Your priorities are different, but you work well together.
Love that! I'm glad we could do it for ya!
Awesome video. I think I like the LC interior the most out of the 4unner and Tacoma.
For sure I agree. It is my favorite of them all for sure. Even over GX too
Great info listening to the two of you comparing different models.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Jon, you have to share that video of the turbo flutter on the Trail Hunter. I need to hear that. 😂
I will! It’s glorious! Will share all on the 23rd!

honestly surprisingly good. I have an on road video coming too.
My LC has power. Super easy to pass vehicles at higher speeds. Zero effort. This is my first hybrid and I'm blown away with it all.
probably waiting for the 4runner, best of both worlds.
You're getting one!? that's awesome!! Tacoma and land cruiser content will be great
Great job on the video Jon! Thanks for making it. Nice TRD Shades!
My pleasure!
Does the Land Cruiser have a full size spare tire that matches the other 4 tires?
wow that looks like a really fun trip with a great suv
Great time for sure
I'm excited to see what you do with yours as I'm leaving towards replacing my 3rd gen in a year or two with the LCLC

I want to know how comfortable the seats are after 8-10 hours of straight driving. Great Video!
In time I will let you know
When do you think companies will have mods available for the Land Cruiser? Love to see some Armor.

So it’s confirmed no auxiliary switches on the LC?
I haven't seen any
Jon when will you be sharing tacoma hybrid drive?
On the 23rd
Did you try the sway bar disconnect?
I did not no
does this ride more like an fj or 4runner Jon
If given those two, I’d say and very plush 4Runner
Is the roof rack on the First Edition easily removable?
I hope so

So the question will come down to Land Cruiser vs 4Runner

I don't think be any different, have same engine, same chasis, same features so both should do the same thing
