To be honest, passenger missions seem like a pretty good source of income. I pretty much loop between six systems and every station I stop at is "transport this VIP in one jump for 3mill" or "transport 12 business men for 900k", etc. That shit is really good for money, especially if you want to try and stack them.
I used an Orca pre-2.3 for a Colonia mission. I think that qualified me for an intervention. But hey, when I got interdicted a bunch of times because I still had junk in my cargo hold as a mission reward, I was able to boost away, so... yeah, in my current Beluga, I miss that 400+ top boost speed.
Yep....hit the landing gear and reverse thrusters and stop on a dime.....of course playing on the Xbox (as I do) boost is a tap of the button that you hold in combo with the D-pad to extend landing gear....oops
I'd rather keep the available one touch for things in combat and i've not made the boost / landing gear mistake since I got used to the elite controller where I can use the underside levers rather than the normal buttons where I get occasional problems due to a dodgy wrist giving me a shaky thumb
I can never hear the word interdict the same way since it was autocorrected in a text I sent. I typed "an FDL just tried to interdict me" and autocorrect typed "an FDL just tried to enter a d*ck to me". Seems appropriate somehow when reviewing the orca. Nice guest appearance btw.
I just bought an Orca the other day to replace my AspX as a dedicated miner. I love it. It's fast, turns well and has plenty of storage. The large windows make spotting glowing rocks nice and easy.
I had an Orca since the start of the game and I used it for trying everything in the game, except passenger missions as at this time, there was not. I've done trading, mining, combat (BH and even Huge Conflict Zones) exploration (and i'm not talking 1k ly exploration, i'm talking about the real shit), so I soon felt in love with that ship and I only left it few month ago when I bought a Beluga. My next mission with would be Beagle Point (if I can find a way).

I love my Orca, easily my favourite and most profitable ship in my hangar. I bought one a couple of years ago and have made billions just taking it into the black doing exploration. Occasionally I pop womble back to the bubble but it's just to do something different until I feel the whale song calling me again and I abandon civilisation for months. I can get >60 LY jump range with full fuel and carry everything I need to be safe and self-reliant, fuel scooping is fast (unlike in the Beluga), and the view is fantastic. Plus I love the TNG cockpit (but agree that the gaping empty space behind the chairs is a huge missed opportunity, and that some cockpit customisation would be awesome).
just a point... those 'winglets' are Canards. Made to act like wings at high speed, so this ship could enter atmosphere and land... not as slowly as the Beluga could manage, but it could land.
This got me my python, highly profitable doing passenger or rescue missions from damaged stations. Later I'll definitely get a beluga so I can be in the top 1% of all liners.

Didn't do much of Rinzler style ramming in it yet, combat rating it is next on my list, but I used it for gold transportation to get Cheung and for mining. Now its a 46ly explorca in the Silly Ships 2 expedition. No regurts
Suggestion, if you outfit this thing with a good FTL and fair passenger cabins, you can run multiple 30 million credit missions out to a similarly remote point of the galaxy

I had one back then too....fast cargo runs and a tiny bit of smuggling.....through the slot at 400 and jam the brakes on :-)

there is one thing to buy it for. Just like its real-life mammalian counterpart, it (supposedly) has a decent ram, thanks to both mass and speed.

2 pulse lasers, 300Mj shields, amfu, srv, ads and dss, 96t cargo capacity, 50ly jump range and 350ly tank range. It makes a very decent explorer.

I use this as my exploration ship fast easy to fly lots of modules and does 61ly range so it's not bad for jumping around lol
